Letter bomb in Uttarakhand! Congress attacks Dhami government, questions raised on real and fake

0

The rhetoric has once again intensified in the politics of Uttarakhand. This time the root of the controversy has become a viral letter, due to which Congress and BJP have come face to face. But the interesting thing is that the truth of the letter on the basis of which Congress is cornering the government has not been made clear till now.

Congress State President Ganesh Godiyal held a press conference at the party headquarters on Friday (May 1) and made many serious allegations against the Dhami government. He raised questions on the presence of police officers in a bar located on Rajpur Road and also raised the issue of not being able to meet the Governor.

New arrangement for madrassas in Uttarakhand, institutions from class 1 to 8 will be affiliated to the district committee.

The biggest issue was an alleged letter viral on social media, which is being linked to the name of Arvind Pandey. In this letter, questions have reportedly been raised on the working style of the Chief Minister.

Big question on the authenticity of the viral letter

The most important question amid the entire controversy is whether this letter is genuine? Neither has it been officially confirmed yet nor is it clear who actually wrote it.

Political experts say that making allegations on the basis of any document without verification raises many questions in itself. If this letter is true, what was the way to make it public? And if it is wrong, then who made it viral?

Questions were also raised on the role of Congress

The role of Congress in this matter has also come under question. It is being said that this letter could be a part of the internal communication of BJP. In such a situation, the question arises that how did it reach Congress?

There is discussion in political circles that Congress is trying to take political advantage by giving more importance to this issue. Some analysts even said that this has become a situation like “Abdullah going crazy in a foreign marriage”.

Arvind Pandey’s silence increased the suspense

Till now no clear response has come from the MLA in whose name this letter is going viral, i.e. Arvind Pandey. His silence has made this entire matter more mysterious. If the letter is genuine, it may point to internal differences in the BJP. But if it is fake, then it could also be part of a bigger conspiracy.

In the press conference, Ganesh Godiyal has demanded a SIT investigation into this matter. But the question is also arising whether this demand is for an impartial investigation or a strategy to put pressure on the government. Because demanding investigation on the basis of a letter without authenticity is also being considered a political move.

BJP’s silence increased the stir

Till now no official statement has come from Pushkar Singh Dhami or BJP in this entire matter. This is the reason why the market of speculation has become more heated. Political experts believe that in the coming days, BJP will clarify its stand on this issue, after which the situation may become more clear.

You will not have to worry about the scorching heat, Uttarakhand gets 150 MW additional electricity from the Centre.

At present, this issue has completely dominated the politics of Uttarakhand. Amidst the allegations and counter-allegations, questions are being raised in the minds of common people as to what is the truth. Until the authenticity of this viral letter is revealed, it would not be wrong to say that the truth seems to be left behind in this noise of politics.

US warns shippers against paying Strait of Hormuz tolls, ‘donations’ | US-Israel war on Iran News

0

Latest warning comes as Iranian state media reports Tehran has presented new peace proposal to US.

The United States has warned that any shippers paying tolls or other fees to Iran for passage through the Strait of Hormuz risk being sanctioned.

The warning on Friday comes as a US naval blockade of the strait continued for its third week, amid stalled US-Iran ceasefire talks. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called the ongoing siege on the country’s ports “intolerable”.

Iran’s influence over, and ability to effectively close, the Strait of Hormuz emerged as a key point of leverage shortly after the US and Israel began launching attacks on Iran on February 28.

About one-fifth of the global crude oil and liquefied natural gas maritime shipments pass through the arterial waterway.

In its past proposals to end the war, Iran has proposed charging fees or tolls for vessels seeking to pass through the state. Washington has repeatedly rejected the prospect.

The advisory from the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control said Iran may offer shippers fiat currency, digital assets, offsets, informal swaps, or other in-kind payments.

It said those also included payments framed as charitable donations, including to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Bonyad Mostazafan, or Iranian embassy accounts.

“OFAC is issuing ‌this alert to warn US and non-US persons about the sanctions risks of making these payments to, or soliciting ‌guarantees ‌from, the Iranian regime for safe passage,” it said.

“These risks exist regardless of payment method,” it said.

Both the government of Iran and the International Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) remain under US sanctions.

The advisory on Friday came as Iranian state media reported that Tehran had sent a new proposal for a lasting ceasefire to the Trump administration.

A White House spokesperson said it does not “detail private diplomatic conversations”, declining to confirm receipt of the proposal.

The spokesperson, Anna Kelly, added that “Trump has been clear that Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon, and negotiations continue to ensure the short- and long-term national security of the United States”.

Both sides have largely halted attacks since reaching a tentative agreement to pause fighting on April 7. Trump has repeatedly threatened to resume attacks amid the stalled negotiations.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Friday that Tehran remains open to diplomacy with the US if Washington alters its “expansionist approach” and “threatening rhetoric”.

Meryl Streep gushes over Robert Redford in ‘Out of Africa’ hair-washing scene

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Meryl Streep hinted at her undeniable spark with Robert Redford while revisiting one of her most iconic on-screen romances.

Decades after “Out of Africa” captivated audiences, Streep still remembers one scene with Redford as something more than scripted.

Streep starred as a Danish baroness who falls in love with a big-game hunter, played by Redford, while running a coffee plantation in colonial Kenya in the epic romantic drama. During a memorable scene from the film, Redford tenderly washes Streep’s hair by a river while reciting lines from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.”

“Was he the most divine man in the world?” Streep gushed during a rewatch of some of her most famous movies with Vanity Fair.

“It’s not a sex scene. It’s a love scene … He was really amazing,” she recalled. “It was a great … I didn’t want that scene to end. It felt so good.”

Streep has long been fond of her film and this particular scene with Redford. She touched on the iconic moment back in 2024, the year before Redford’s death, at the Cannes Film Festival, according to Variety.

“It’s a sex scene in a way, because it’s so intimate,” she said at the time. “We’ve seen so many scenes of people f—–g, but we don’t see that loving touch, that care.”

The “Devil Wears Prada” star revealed filming the scene wasn’t very pleasant. She claimed the two were warned by production to be wary of potentially dangerous wild animals nearby.

“We had lions, but they were imported from California, and they were supposedly fine — tame. They were not,” she said at Cannes, according to Metro.

“And the second thing we were told is the animal that kills the most people in Africa is the hippopotamus, if you get between the hippopotamus and the water,” she added. “So we were shooting in the river and the hippopotamus were right above it. I don’t know if they show that in the movie, I can’t remember, but I was aware of it!”

Redford, worried about safety, was having a hard time washing Streep’s hair until longtime hairstylist and makeup artist Roy Hellund jumped in and demonstrated how he typically washed the actress’ hair.

“Redford took the lesson, and he just really got into it, and he was great,” Streep recalled. “By take five I was so in love! I didn’t want it to end that day, even in spite of the hippos.”

Redford was already a major Hollywood force by the time he took on the role of Denys Finch Hatton. He rose to fame in the late 1960s and ’70s with films like “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “The Sting.” Meanwhile, Streep had already earned acclaim for “The Deer Hunter and “Kramer vs. Kramer” when she took on the role of Karen Blixen.

Out of Africa,” directed by Sydney Pollack, followed Blixen’s life running a coffee plantation in Kenya and her complicated romance with Redford’s Finch Hatton. The film won seven Academy Awards, including best picture and best director, and is often cited among the standout achievements for both actors.

Bihar: Politics intensified in Bihar due to Samrat Chaudhary’s statement about garlanding him, what did RJD and other parties say?

0

A new debate has started in the politics of Bihar on the issue of ‘good governance’ and ‘crime’. Former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had made ‘Rule of Law’ his biggest USP, now the new Chief Minister of the state Samrat Choudhary seems to be moving forward on the same path in a slightly different and aggressive manner. There is a political turmoil in Bihar after the CM’s open instructions to ‘garland’ (hint towards encounter) the criminals who misbehave with girls.

The main opposition party RJD has expressed strong objection to this ‘free hand’ given to the police by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary in the meeting with DGP, DM and SP. RJD’s chief spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari asked a direct question to JDU, “Is Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s instruction to garland criminals a Yogi model or a Nitish model? Will this now be the new policy of zero tolerance towards crime?”

JDU counterattacks – bullets will be answered with bullets

On these questions of the opposition, NDA’s main constituent JDU has strongly defended CM Samrat Chaudhary. JDU spokesperson Abhishek Jha said, “Nitish Kumar ji has established the rule of law in Bihar. CM Samrat Chaudhary is doing a very good job and his instructions are within the ambit of the law.” Responding to the opposition, he clarified, “Police is not meant to entertain criminals. Our police is fully capable of breaking the morale of criminals. Now the bullets of criminals will be answered with bullets only.”

BJP’s claim- criminals have entered the bill

Former minister and BJP MLA Ramkripal Yadav has also supported the Chief Minister’s statement. He said, “The first priority of the government is to maintain law and order. CM Samrat Chaudhary We are adopting the same ‘zero tolerance’ policy which was made by former CM Nitish Kumar. Whoever tries to disturb peace will be given a befitting reply.”

On Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav calling criminals ’emperors’, Ramkripal Yadav took a sharp dig and said, “The Chief Minister himself is the emperor and due to his fear the criminals have now entered the bill.”

These big questions are being raised in political circles

After becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar from BJP quota, now the question is being raised whether the NDA government of Bihar will still be in control. Nitish Kumar Do you have a hold on it, or has the entire command of power come into the hands of BJP? The biggest question is that in a state where criminals used to go to jail under the law, is the talk of giving leeway to the police like ‘encounter’, the beginning of a ‘new political and policing era’ in Bihar?

Pentagon keeps Anthropic barred despite Mythos interest • The Register

Pentagon CTO Emil Michael pushed back on reports of a thaw in the department’s relationship with Anthropic: The two are not getting back together, even as Mythos draws interest from government agencies.

The DoD CTO told CNBC’s Becky Quick on Friday that, as far as his department is concerned, Anthropic is still a supply chain risk that it doesn’t want in its systems. He didn’t appear to believe things were any different with regard to Anthropic elsewhere in the federal government, but confirmed recent reports that some agencies have accessed Mythos for evaluation purposes rather than operational deployment.

“The Mythos issue … is a separate national security moment,” Michael said. “We have to make sure our networks are hardened up because that model has capabilities that are particular to finding cyber vulnerabilities and patching them.”

Rumors that the administration’s stance toward Anthropic, following an acceptable use dispute with the Pentagon, was softening have been swirling since mid-April, when it was reported that the National Security Agency was using Mythos. That, in turn, fueled speculation that the government might move toward broader adoption of the model, reinforced by CEO Dario Amodei’s visit to the White House last month, but Michael insists that’s not the case.

“With Anthropic, they’re a supply chain risk,” Michael said in the interview on Squawk Box.

“From a national security standpoint, you always have to look at those things. The NSA and Commerce evaluates all frontier models, including Chinese frontier models, to see what the capabilities are at the edge.”

In other words, the official line from the administration at this point seems to be that any use of Mythos at a federal agency is just model analysis, and thus business as usual.

That doesn’t mean the government isn’t seeking to make use of any similarly capable models that might arise, like ChatGPT 5.5-Cyber, as AI leaders from multiple firms were reportedly planning to meet at the White House soon to discuss Mythos and the cybersecurity risks posed by emerging AI models.

“We think about the first drop being Mythos, but there’s going to be others,” Michael said on CNBC. “The government’s looking for how to work with all of these companies in the coming year so that their capabilities are understood by us first so that we can fix any issues we have in the private and the public sectors.”

Neither the Pentagon nor Anthropic responded to questions for this story. ®

Kumar Vishwas and AAP leaders ordered to appear in court, what is the matter?

0

The Special MP/MLA Court of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh has summoned former ministers of Delhi government, including former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and poet Kumar Vishwas, on May 15 in a case of Model Code of Conduct violation. Special government lawyer Kalika Prasad Mishra said that the court on Friday, taking a strict stance in this case related to the year 2014, has issued summons to all the accused.

Kumar Vishwas was AAP’s candidate from Amethi.

Kalika Prasad Mishra told that this matter is of May 6, 2014, when Kumar Vishwas was the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. It is alleged that during the election campaign, the then Kotwal Mohammad Hameed had instructed him and his supporters to leave the area, as they were not voters of that area.

Police had registered a case of violation of code of conduct

According to the rules of the Election Commission, outsiders are prohibited from staying in the constituency 48 hours before voting. The police had registered a case of code of conduct violation against Kumar Vishwas, then minister Satyendar Jain, Somnath Bharti and their supporters for not leaving the area despite repeated instructions from the administration.

Akhilesh Yadav’s big allegation, ‘The same process was completely implemented in West Bengal which…’

The lawyer said that earlier this case was under consideration in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, which has recently been transferred to the court of Special MP/MLA Court Magistrate Shubham Verma.

The next hearing of the case will be on May 15.

Taking cognizance of the case, the court has issued summons against all the accused and has scheduled the next hearing on May 15, in which all the accused have been directed to appear in person.

The prominent people who have been summoned include Kumar Vishwas (then candidate), Satyendra Jain (former minister of Delhi government) and Somnath Bharti (former minister and MLA).

’60 Minutes’ correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi lambasts ‘corporate meddling’ at CBS

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

“60 Minutes” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi offered scathing criticism of CBS leadership and speculated about her potential firing from the network while accepting an award Thursday night.

Alfonsi was the recipient of the Courage Prize from the Ridenhour Prizes in Washington, D.C. According to its website, the awards, named after investigative journalist Ron Ridenhour, “recognize those who persevere in acts of truth-telling that protect the public interest, promote social justice or illuminate a more just vision of society.”

According to The Guardian, Alfonsi invoked her clash with CBS News chief editor Bari Weiss over her decision to temporarily pull her “60 Minutes” segment on the notorious El Salvador prison CECOT in December that ultimately aired in January, citing “corporate calculations” that were in play, though not singling out her boss by name.

“I will not linger on the internal mechanics of the dust-up at CBS that led to our CECOT story being pulled, but we have to be honest about what it represents,” Alfonsi said, per The Guardian. “It wasn’t an isolated editorial argument. In my view, it was the result of a more aggressive contagion: the spread of corporate meddling and editorial fear. It’s hard to watch.”

’60 MINUTES’ REPORTER LASHES OUT AT BARI WEISS AFTER SEGMENT ON EL SALVADOR PRISON YANKED AT LAST MINUTE

Sharyn Alfonsi

“Some executives are asking not, ‘Is the story true?’ But, ‘Is it good for business?’” she remarked. “But rather than just running the story, they asked us to change it. I refused. Not because I’m a pain in the a–, which I am, but because the story was factually correct, and I argued that any change to it might reflect poorly on CBS and ’60 Minutes.'”

Alfonsi acknowledged her stance “did not make my new bosses very happy,” insisting the show’s audience is “smart” and that viewers would know instinctually that changes made to her CECOT story would be the result of “capitulation or censorship.”

“I believe I was doing my job, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared,” she said, according to The Guardian. “Fear is a funny thing – it can paralyze you, or it can point you to exactly what needs to be protected. Right now, our industry is afraid of the wrong things. We’re afraid of offending power. We’re afraid of losing access. We’re afraid of another baseless lawsuit. But what we should all be afraid of is silence. Because as I learned [at her first job as a waitress], there is a fine line between being a team player and being an accomplice.”

WHO IS SHARYN ALFONSI? ‘60 MINUTES’ CORRESPONDENT IS ALLEGING POLITICAL INTERFERENCE IN HER STORY ON CECOT

Bari Weiss

She also spoke candidly about the possibility that she will not return for the next season of “60 Minutes.”

“Thank you for this award. I didn’t know that the theme was hope. My hope recently has been that I still have a job. And every morning I wake up to another headline that says I’ve been fired… If I am fired, it will not be the first time,” Alfonsi said, referring to a past job as a waitress.

CBS News did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital‘s request for comment.

CBS REPORTER EXPLODES AT TOP EDITOR DURING HEATED MEETING OVER LONG-DELAYED ‘INSIDE CECOT’ SEGMENT: REPORT

Sharyn Alfonsi interview

There have been multiple reports in recent weeks of a major shakeup at “60 Minutes,” though details have been under wraps. Among the things being speculated is an overhaul of the magazine program’s correspondents. Anderson Cooper announced his exit from “60 Minutes” earlier this year, which reportedly shocked CBS News leadership.

Weiss’ newsroom battle with Alfonsi marked her first major challenge as the network’s editor in chief. Weiss was brought into the fold by David Ellison, who became the CEO of CBS News’ parent company Paramount following the company’s merger with Skydance Media.

Liberal critics of Weiss and Ellison have accused them of bending the knee to President Donald Trump and trying to curry favor with the Trump administration, particularly as Ellison seeks to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, which oversees CNN.

Critics also fear that both CBS News and CNN will undergo a MAGA-friendly makeover as a result. Ellison insisted that CNN would maintain editorial independence under his watch, though he echoed that the network would share CBS News’ new mission of appealing to the 70% in the political middle.

Notably, Ellison hosted a dinner last week honoring Trump and CBS News correspondents two days prior to the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
