ICE arrests Vietnamese national shielded from deportation for 15 years

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested a Vietnamese national convicted of attempted murder of a police officer who remained free in the country for over 15 years because his home country refused to take him back.

The case underscores a broader shift in U.S. deportation policy targeting previously protected foreign nationals with criminal convictions.

Dinh Quy Nguyen, who was convicted of attempted capital murder of a police officer and burglary on June 28, 1989, was taken into custody in Houston, Texas, on May 5, 2026. Despite being ordered deported in 1997, Nguyen was released in 2011 after Vietnam refused to take him back.

For over a decade, Nguyen was considered “untouchable” by immigration officials. Under a previous agreement, the U.S. could not repatriate Vietnamese citizens who arrived in the country before July 12, 1995. Because Nguyen arrived on Dec. 15, 1977, he was effectively shielded from deportation despite a violent criminal record.

“As we observe Police Week, the men and women of ICE law enforcement are removing this illegal alien convicted of attempted murder of a police officer from our communities, so he cannot victimize anymore Americans,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.

“This criminal illegal alien from Vietnam was also previously convicted for burglary. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, we will always stand by our brave ICE law enforcement who put their lives on the line to arrest heinous criminals from American neighborhoods.”

The arrest marks a significant shift in enforcement under President Donald Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, according to DHS officials, who say recent policy changes are aimed at removing longstanding barriers that allowed certain convicted criminals to remain in the United States.

Nguyen’s history in the U.S. spans nearly five decades. He was first admitted to the U.S. in 1977 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was issued a final order of removal by an immigration judge on Dec. 30, 1997, which was affirmed by the Board of Immigration Appeals on May 26, 1998.

The Department of Homeland Security said the renewed enforcement effort is part of a broader initiative to ensure “heinous criminals” are no longer able to victimize Americans due to diplomatic technicalities.

Nguyen is currently being held at the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas, pending his removal to Vietnam.

Battle To Save Lives In Highway Accidents: Ambulance Will Now Arrive In 10 Minutes, Nhai Is Working On Plan

0

Amidst the horrific picture of road accidents in the country, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is now going to make a big change in the direction of providing timely treatment (in the golden hour) to the seriously injured. NHAI has identified about 16 thousand kilometers of stretches in the 80 thousand kilometer long national highway network under its control where the possibility of accidents is highest. These also include 278 such places where it takes 20 to 30 minutes for the ambulance to reach after the accident. Now work has been started on a plan to reduce the ambulance response time at these places to 10 minutes.

NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav says that highway safety cannot be limited to road construction only. Ensuring prompt medical aid after an accident has now become a priority. For this, a new system of ambulance network, live tracking and real time monitoring will be implemented on the highway. According to the Road Accidents in India-2023 report of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, more than 1.50 lakh road accidents occurred on national highways in the year 2023, in which more than 63 thousand people died.

Despite the low share of national highways in the total road network of the country, a major portion of deaths in road accidents are being recorded on these routes. In view of this danger, NHAI is now doing separate mapping of accident prone corridors. Special focus is being given to those areas where it takes more time for medical help to reach after an accident. According to officials, in many cases the injured person dies before reaching the hospital. Therefore, providing treatment within the golden hour is the biggest challenge.

Facility of live tracking of ambulance will be available
Under the new scheme, live tracking facility of ambulance will be started. This system will work like an app-based cab service. As soon as information about the accident is received, the control room and related agencies will be able to see where the nearest ambulance is, how long it will take and which route will be the fastest. This is expected to make the response system more transparent and faster.
  • NHAI will also make strategic deployment of ambulances in accident-prone areas. Apart from this, work is also being done on real time monitoring of risk factors like fog, overspeeding and driving in the wrong lane. Digital monitoring and data-based safety management on highways are being made a part of the new road safety model.

The number of ambulances is being increased
According to data for 2023-24 from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, there are 1,074 ambulances deployed on national highways. According to the ministry’s standards, one ambulance should be available every 50-60 km. On this basis, it is believed that 1,300 to 1,600 ambulances are required for the approximately 80 thousand km long highway network of NHAI. NHAI is working on this also. The ambulance is equipped with stretchers, more than 50 medicines and dressing materials, including IV fluids, emergency injections etc.

Pm Reduces Convoy: Number of vehicles in Prime Minister Modi’s convoy reduced; PM seen going with two vehicles – PM Modi Cuts Down Convoy Size While Retaining Spg Security Protocols

0

Amidst the growing energy crisis across the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a big decision regarding his convoy. Without any reduction in security arrangements, the number of vehicles in the Prime Minister’s convoy has been reduced. In a video, only 2 vehicles were seen in PM Modi’s convoy. This step of the government is being considered as an important initiative towards fuel saving and expense control.

According to sources, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the standards of security agencies and Special Protection Group (SPG). Under the new system, now only vehicles related to essential security and operations will be part of the Prime Minister’s convoy.
no compromise on security
Officials have clarified that the security arrangements for the Prime Minister will remain as strong as before. There has been no change in the SPG protocol and all necessary security arrangements will remain in place as before. However, there has been an emphasis on making convoys more organized and energy-efficient by removing unnecessary vehicles.

Preparation to promote electric vehicles
According to sources, Prime Minister Modi has also suggested that wherever possible, the use of electric vehicles in the convoy should be increased. However, for this, instead of buying new vehicles, emphasis has been laid on better utilization of existing resources. This step of the government is also being seen as a message of environmental protection and fuel saving.

The effect is visible in BJP ruled states also
The effect of this initiative of Prime Minister Modi is visible in BJP ruled states also. In many states, Chief Ministers and Ministers are considering reducing the number of vehicles in their convoys. Other leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav have also decided to reduce the number of vehicles in their convoys.

Prime Minister had appealed to save resources
This step is being considered a part of the Prime Minister’s broader appeal in which he had emphasized on reducing unnecessary travel and saving national resources. Amid the energy crisis arising out of the Iran war and high global crude oil prices, Prime Minister Modi on Sunday appealed to the country to face global economic uncertainties, supply chain disruptions and inflationary pressure.

Prime Minister Modi had appealed to the citizens to adopt a responsible lifestyle for the nation and promote the use of local products. He said, how will the country progress if we depend on imports for everything? He also advised people to avoid unnecessary purchases of gold for a year and not to travel abroad to save foreign exchange. The Prime Minister said saving foreign exchange reserves is an act of patriotism and appealed to people to avoid foreign holidays and destination weddings. He also stressed on promoting tourism and events within the country.

Delhi: Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Sandhu announces – Capital will be drug-free by 2027, Anti-Narcotics Task Force police station will be built – Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Sandhu Announces Drug-free Capital By 2027

0

Further intensifying the fight against drug trade in Delhi, the first dedicated Anti-Narcotics Task Force police station will be set up in the capital. Announcing this in the drug destruction program, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that a target has been set to make Delhi drug free by the year 2027.

The Lieutenant Governor said that this program is not limited to just destroying the seized drugs, but is an effort to eliminate the entire network that is harming the youth, families and the future of the society. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Drug Free India vision, he said that addiction brings darkness, destruction and devastation and a collective fight against it is necessary.

In the programme, about 1,700 kg of drugs were scientifically destroyed, whose value in the international market was estimated to be around Rs 72 crore. The Lieutenant Governor called it a victory for the law and a major action against organized crime. He said that Delhi Police has adopted a comprehensive strategy instead of limiting itself to just general policing.

This includes financial investigation, illegal asset seizure, hotspot mapping, Operation Kavach, school outreach campaigns and coordination between various agencies under NCORD. He said that illicit money earned from drugs causes double damage to the society, first through addiction and then by promoting organized crime.

Youth should avoid false glow: The Lieutenant Governor said that the fight against drugs cannot be won by the police or the government alone. For this, families, teachers, health agencies, social organizations and communities will have to come together. Appealing to the youth, he said that they should avoid false glitter and adopt sports, education and purposeful life. He also appealed to the citizens to report drug related activities.

For this, they were asked to use the Central Government’s Manas Portal and Helpline 1933, where people can lodge complaints or seek consultation confidentially. The Lieutenant Governor said that Delhi will have to be made a city where the drug trade neither gets market, nor protection nor social acceptance.

Washington manufacturer leaving state after 47 years, cites crime and taxes

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A Washington manufacturer is leaving the state after nearly five decades, with its owner citing rising crime, taxes and a worsening political climate.

Jon Bodwell, whose family founded Delta Camshaft in 1977, said he has been forced to live inside his business because the cost of operating in Washington has become too high.

“A majority of it is the constant battle with the city over the graffiti and the crime stuff here, the constant massive tax increase, everything is increasing,” Bodwell told Fox News Digital in an interview Tuesday.

WASHINGTON BUSINESS OWNERS FEAR SOCIALIST ‘MILLIONAIRES TAX’ IS DRIVING BUSINESSES OUT — AND THEY’RE NEXT

“The cost of power, the cost of insurance, everything is increasing by large increments. It’s not like one or two percent, it’s like, my insurance went up 20%,” he added. “My power bill is going up. The claim is supposed to be going up another 13%. But just last month, it almost doubled.”

Delta Camshaft manufactures and repairs camshafts, which control how an engine takes in air and fuel and expels exhaust.

On its website, the company says that it “is not closing,” but that “our plan is to relocate the business and continue to serve our customers for years to come.”

Because crime is running rampant, my insurance policy on the building is skyrocketed,” Bodwell said. “You know, quite a substantial amount in the past three to five years. And then, officers that I do speak with about the graffiti stuff like that they’ll say it takes longer for them to write the report than it does if they arrest the person,” he said, adding that “the criminals basically have more protective rights than I do as the building owner.

According to an FBI crime report for 2024, released in August, Seattle was ranked fourth-worst out of the 30 largest American cities for total crime.

Bodwell said his move out of Washington state might cost him upwards of $100,000, but that he believes he will be able to make up the money once he has moved his business.

“A few years ago, I should have sold it, sold the building when people were buying and moving into the downtown Tacoma,” he told Fox News Digital. “And now there’s just a ton of buildings for sale in the market because everyone’s leaving.”

Bodwell and Delta Camshaft are far from the only ones planning to leave Washington.

A recent survey by the Association of Washington Business reported on by The Center Square found that 44% of business leaders said they are considering moving their personal residence out of state, with businesses also saying they are now more than twice as likely to expand outside of Washington than within it.

In March, Washington state Democrats passed the “millionaires tax,” which Democratic Gov. Bob Ferguson signed on March 30. It’s the state’s first-ever income tax, pushed by progressives and opposed by conservatives.

“If I was in my younger years, if I was in my mid-20s or 30s, I would go into politics to stop what’s occurring now,” he said. “Unfortunately, I’m 56 with some very bad health issues that won’t allow me to be around for a whole lot longer with my lungs and heart issues. But I definitely, I wish I could go back to get involved in politics to stop what’s occurring.

Patch Tuesday, May 2026 Edition – Krebs on Security

0

Artificial intelligence platforms may be just as susceptible to social engineering as human beings, but they are proving remarkably good at finding security vulnerabilities in human-made computer code. That reality is on full display this month with some of the more widely-used software makers — including Apple, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla and Oracle — fixing near record volumes of security bugs, and/or quickening the tempo of their patch releases.

As it does on the second Tuesday of every month, Microsoft today released software updates to address at least 118 security vulnerabilities in its various Windows operating systems and other products. Remarkably, this is the first Patch Tuesday in nearly two years that Microsoft is not shipping any fixes to deal with emergency zero-day flaws that are already being exploited. Nor have any of the flaws fixed today been previously disclosed (potentially giving attackers a heads up in how to exploit the weakness).

Sixteen of the vulnerabilities earned Microsoft’s most-dire “critical” label, meaning malware or miscreants could abuse these bugs to seize remote control over a vulnerable Windows device with little or no help from the user. Rapid7 has done much of the heavy lifting in identifying some of the more concerning critical weaknesses this month, including:

  • CVE-2026-41089: A critical stack-based buffer overflow in Windows Netlogon that offers an attacker SYSTEM privileges on the domain controller. No privileges or user interaction are required, and attack complexity is low. Patches are available for all versions of Windows Server from 2012 onwards.
  • CVE-2026-41096: A critical RCE in the Windows DNS client implementation worthy of attention despite Microsoft assessing exploitation as less likely.
  • CVE-2026-41103: A critical elevation of privilege vulnerability that allows an unauthorized attacker to impersonate an existing user by presenting forged credentials, thus bypassing Entra ID. Microsoft expects that exploitation is more likely.

May’s Patch Tuesday is a welcome respite from April, which saw Microsoft fix a near-record 167 security flaws. Microsoft was among a few dozen tech giants given access to a “Project Glasswing,” a much-hyped AI capability developed by Anthropic that appears quite effective at unearthing security vulnerabilities in code.

Apple, another early participant in Project Glasswing, typically fixes an average of 20 vulnerabilities each time it ships a security update for iOS devices, said Chris Goettl, vice president of product management at Ivanti. On May 11, Apple shipped iOS 15, which addressed at least 52 vulnerabilities and backported the changes all the way to iPhone 6s and iOS 15.

Last month, Mozilla released Firefox 150, which resolved a whopping 271 vulnerabilities that were reportedly discovered during the Glasswing evaluation.

“Since Firefox 150.0.0 released, they have been on a more aggressive weekly cadence for security updates including the release of Firefox 150.0.3 on May Patch Tuesday resolving between three to five CVEs in each release,” Goettl said.

The software giant Oracle likewise recently increased its patch pace in response to their work with Glasswing. In its most recent quarterly patch update, Oracle addressed at least 450 flaws, including more than 300 fixes for remotely exploitable, unauthenticated flaws. But at the end of April, Oracle announced it was switching to a monthly update cycle for critical security issues.

On May 8, Google started rolling out updates to its Chrome browser that fixed an astonishing 127 security flaws (up from just 30 the previous month). Chrome automagically downloads available security updates, but installing them requires fully restarting the browser.

If you encounter any weirdness applying the updates from Microsoft or any other vendor mentioned here, feel free to sound off in the comments below. Meantime, if you haven’t backed up your data and/or drive lately, doing that before updating is generally sound advice. For a more granular look at the Microsoft updates released today, checkout this inventory by the SANS Internet Storm Center.

FDA approves first non-antipsychotic drug for Alzheimer’s agitation

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has green-lit the first-ever non-antipsychotic drug treatment for agitation in Alzheimer’s disease patients.

The drug, Auvelity, was originally FDA-approved in 2022 for treating adults with major depressive disorder. Most recently, its use has been expanded for agitation associated with dementia.

Agitation is a common and “distressing” symptom in adults with Alzheimer’s, according to the agency. The condition is characterized by excessive motor activity, or verbal or physical aggression.

The FDA noted that agitation can “significantly impact quality of life for patients and caregivers.”

In a press release, the FDA commissioner commented that this approval “represents a significant advancement in our ability to help patients and families dealing with one of the most challenging aspects of Alzheimer’s disease.”

“With today’s action, patients and their families have access to an additional important treatment for complications of this devastating disease,” he said.

DRUGS THAT REDUCE DEMENTIA RISK — AND OTHERS THAT INCREASE IT

Tracy Beth Hoeg, MD, PhD, acting director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, also reflected on the approval, noting that Auvelity was found to be “efficacious for treating agitation in Alzheimer’s disease” in two randomized trials.

The first study was a five-week trial of the drug, in which patients were assessed for the frequency of agitated behaviors based on caregiver reports. The results found Auvelity, which is made by Axsome Therapeutics in New York City, to be “significantly superior” in improving behaviors.

The second study looked at patients who responded to Auvelity and were then randomly assigned to continue treatment or switch, tracking how long it took for agitation symptoms to return.

“[This approval] now represents an additional option to address one of the most difficult sequelae of the disease, especially as it progresses,” Hoeg said in a statement. “We hope this approval will provide meaningful benefit to patients, their families and caregivers.”

Auvelity is administered in rapid-onset extended-release tablets. The FDA urged healthcare providers to monitor blood pressure, screen for a medical history of bipolar disorder, and determine whether patients are taking other medications that contain bupropion or dextromethorphan before prescribing Auvelity.

The most common side effects of the medication include dizziness, upset stomach, headache, diarrhea, drowsiness, dry mouth, sexual dysfunction and uncontrolled sweating, according to the FDA.

The treatment can also cause seizures, with the risk increasing along with the dose. Other risks include elevated blood pressure, hypertension and mania in susceptible patients.

The drug’s prescribing information also warns of increased suicidal thoughts in younger adults; providers should monitor patients for the emergence of these behaviors, the FDA advised.

CALLOUT: “It is a good choice [over] anti-psychotics in many cases, because it doesn’t cause the same amount of drowsiness or other side effects.”

Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel applauded this approval in an interview with Fox News Digital.

The doctor said the treatment works on two brain targets — NMDA and sigma-1 receptors — helping to reduce agitation and depression in older adults with dementia, including Alzheimer’s patients.

“It is a good choice [over] anti-psychotics in many cases, because it doesn’t cause the same amount of drowsiness or other side effects … and is much better tolerated by the heart in a very old person,” Siegel added.
