Through U Unicorn, the company has reiterated its old effort, but more attention is paid to software and service. This smartphone is of a range of Rs 15,000. This handset is going to get a tough challenge in this price range. What u unicorn smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 ,Review, Lenovo Zook Z1 ,Review) And Moto G4 Plus ,Review) Will you be able to challenge? Let’s try to know this.
Look and design
A look at the phone, and we can assure that Unicorn is the best looking U smartphone ever. Metal Unibody is built in the best way. The brushed look adds beauty to the phone. This phone with a thickness of 8.5 millimeters is very slim. The weight of 172 grams is slightly higher but we became accustomed to using it. Oppo F1 Plus in appearance of the phone’s front panel, while the rear camera section reminds us of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The design is not a shocking thing, but we prefer something new in terms of design.
The 5.5 inch full-HD display is sharp picture and sufficient pixel density for text. There is no problem in reading this display in sunlight. Touch response is also good. NEG protective glass is given on the screen. The borders on both sides of the screen are quite slim. There is a notification light on top of it and the physical home button is at the bottom. The fingerprint sensor in the physical home button is integrated, which works good to unlock the phone.
A single hybrid dual-sim tray is on the left side. Power and volume button on the right side. There is some difficulty in pressing these buttons. The headphone socket is at the top and in the micro-USB port bottom. There are speaker grills on either side of the USB port. Dual tone LED flash with 13 megapixel camera has been provided in the rear. The battery cannot be removed. The Unicorn 10 Watt’s power adapter, data cable and in-ear headset will come. One thing has to be believed that the quality of accessory given by the company has improved.
Specification and software
In U Unicorn, the company has used Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 chipset and 4 GB RAM. With this you will get 32 GB of storage which can be increased through microSD card up to 128 GB. It is equipped with Wi-Fi B/G/N, Bluetooth 4.1, USB-OTG and GPS. NFC and FM radio features are not present.
Talking about the software, there is a stock version of Android Lollipop 5.1, which the company has named ‘Android on Stroids’. The innounced launch has a custom icon set and has a new version of U’s Around feature. U Wallet is also present in the new Around Service. By using it, you will be able to use your mobile, DTH or data card.
There is not much app in it. But the work apps like file manager, sound recorder and uunar web browser are present. Unicorn has a U’s cloud service available on which you can have a backup of SMS, contact, call log settings and WhatsApp data.
Performance
U Unicorn works well in multitasking. Whether to load the app or play games. Overall, it is a good modern smartphone. The phone did not heat much during use. This complaint was received while charging a little bit and playing the game. The phone also did a good job in our 4G network. The metal back is about to slip slightly. During the use, this handset was about to fall from our hands once or twice. Performance is such that you will be able to play most of the games easily.
The phone also works well in multimedia playback. There is enough sound from the speaker. The music player is integrated with the song app and also has an equalizer.
Electronic image stabilization and 13-megapixel camera equipped with five-element lenses are present in the rear part. In the light of the day, the pictures taken from this come with good colors. However, while crop crops, you will find that there is a shortage of details. Focus around the object is not very sharp even in close-up shot. The photo in HDR mode comes with Bhutia Effect. This deficiency was also in Utopia. The biggest problem is a slow focus system which is the cause of trouble even during the day. The camera app takes about one second to lock the focus. After this, to save one or two second images.
This problem emerges in low light. You Unicorn seems to be completely lagging behind in low light and indoor shooting. The quality of the recorded video can be called well. You will also get slow motion mode but the resolution is limited to 640 pixels. In good light, a 5-megapixel front camera takes proper pictures. Overall, Unicorn’s camera is not the most important feature. If this is the most important feature for you, then consider another phone.
battery life
The 4000 mAh battery in the handset lasted for 14 hours and 46 minutes in our video loop test. In common use, the phone continued easily for one and a half days. Fast charging lacks, but with the charger given with it, you can get 20 percent battery in the charge of only half an hour.
Our decision
U Unicorn is priced at Rs 12,999. But this is the launch price. After a month, this handset will be available for Rs 13,499. The company is also working to bring this handset to some offline store. The most important feature of U Unicorn is build quality, texture, battery life and interesting software services. There are also some shortcomings, such as weak camera performance, weight and FM radio and Wi-Fi AC deficiency.
We can understand that it is very difficult to make a phone that gives the best performance in all departments, especially at this price. However, the users who shop in this price range are not looking for a supenah phone. They need an all -rounder handset. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Lenovo Zook Jade 1 and Moto G4 Plus offer all these things. In such a situation, it will not be easy for Unicorn to stand in front of these challenges.
