He directed that the budget should be fully utilized and reimbursement claims should be submitted to the NABARD office before March 15, 2026. This grant has been available continuously from the year 1952 till the 15th Finance Commission for the financial stability of the states, which has been stopped for the first time by the 16th Finance Commission, which is injustice to a state like Himachal Pradesh with hilly and difficult geographical conditions.

‘Stopping revenue deficit grant is a blow to the people’

CM further said that Himachal Pradesh plays an important role in environmental protection of the country by imposing a complete ban on felling of trees and also provides water through the rivers flowing through the state. Stopping the revenue deficit grant by the Central Government is an affront to the interests of the state. He said that the 15th Finance Commission had recommended a revenue deficit grant of Rs 37199 crore for Himachal. Apart from this, during the Corona period, the previous BJP government had received assistance of Rs 11,431 crore in the form of revenue deficit grant on the basis of the interim report of the Finance Commission.

Agriculture and horticulture are the mainstay of the economy in the state, but there is neither any provision of subsidy for horticulturists nor any mention of development of infrastructure in the Union Budget.

No Pakistani terrorist organization has yet claimed responsibility for the suicide suicide attack on a Shia mosque in Islamabad. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has issued a statement distancing itself from this attack. In such a situation, the needle of suspicion is currently turning towards the terrorist organizations Sipah-e-Sahaba and Islamic State Khorasan (ISKP), which historically carry out similar suicide attacks on the Shia population. Also, the way the anti-Shia program of the terrorist organization Sipah-e-Sahaba was allowed to take place just one kilometer away from the Shia mosque, it also indicates that the government of Pakistan is not concerned with the security of the Shia population in its country.

A Maryland man was arrested for reportedly targeting Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought in a murder plot. 

The Arlington County Police Department said Colin Demarco, 26, of Rockville, is now facing charges of attempted murder, criminal solicitation to commit murder, carrying a concealed weapon and wearing a mask in public to conceal identity. 

“We are grateful for the work of law enforcement in keeping Director Vought and his family safe,” an OMB spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Friday. 

Sources familiar with the case told CBS News that Demarco allegedly was targeting Vought. The outlet cited a criminal complaint as saying that Demarco is accused of trying to kill an individual with the initials “R.V.”, who, “has served as a presidential appointee.”

The Arlington County Police Department said Demarco was arrested at his residence on Jan. 16, 2026, and is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility following his extradition to Virginia. 

“At approximately 3:15 p.m. on August 10, 2025, Arlington County Police were dispatched to the 3800 block of 7th Street S. for the report of a suspicious person. A witness reported observing a male suspect, who was wearing a surgical mask and rubber gloves, carrying a backpack and appeared to be concealing a firearm under his shirt, on the victim’s porch,” police said in a statement Thursday.  

“The suspect subsequently approached the witness and inquired about the victim before leaving the scene. The witness then contacted police and responding officers established a perimeter and canvassed the area for the suspect with negative results. The incident was captured on home surveillance video and the suspect was subsequently identified,” police continued.

“During the course of the investigation, the Arlington County Police Department executed search warrants for digital records associated with the suspect. As a result of these search warrants, police recovered digital evidence that the suspect had obtained directions to the victim’s residence, had information detailing locations of firearms possessed by a relative and had a guide detailing tips to prevent criminal detection,” the Arlington County Police Department added. 

“Additionally, the suspect had posted online about the victim and had online discussions appearing to solicit others to murder the victim. Within days of these online solicitations, the August 10 incident occurred where the suspect arrived at the victim’s address wearing a mask and gloves, possibly concealing a firearm and inquired about the victim. As a result of the investigation, detectives obtained the criminal warrants for the suspect’s arrest,” it also said. 

Demarco allegedly said he went to Vought’s home because he wanted to confront him about Project 2025, CBS News reported, citing the complaint.

In November 2024, Demarco also was taken into custody in Maryland through a mental illness emergency petition, following a request for a police officer to run him over or shoot him, according to CBS News.

“Demarco stated he wanted to die due to Trump being elected as president,” the news outlet cited the complaint as saying.

‘We are terrorists… arrest us’

After the police arrived, Pappu Yadav made two tweets (X). One wrote, “Murder of young entrepreneur Suraj Bihari, yet due to Bihar Police not being able to catch a murderer, Suraj’s father entrepreneur Jawahar Yadav ji died today. Bihar Police, which performed aarti for his murderers, has arrived with police from five police stations to arrest me! We are terrorists, arrest us.”

Another tweet reads, “Very brilliant Bihar Police, we NEET students fought for justice, Bihar Police got stomach ache. They reached Patna residence to arrest us, but Pappu Yadav will neither bow down nor remain silent due to this. We will keep exposing the activities of dishonest people! Send us to jail or hang us, Pappu will not stop.”

After this, the US State Department issued an official statement saying that the US State Department is imposing sanctions on 15 institutions, two individuals and 14 shadow fleet ships related to the illegal trade of petroleum, petroleum products and petrochemical products of Iran.

The department said these targets generate revenue that the Iranian regime uses to carry out its malign activities. Instead of investing in the welfare of its own people and deteriorating infrastructure, the Iranian regime is funding destabilizing activities around the world and intensifying repression at home.

The US State Department said the US will continue to take action to hold both the Iranian regime and its partners accountable as long as the Iranian regime continues to evade sanctions and raise oil and petrochemical revenues to finance such repressive behavior and support terrorist activities and their proxies.

The department said that under President Trump’s maximum pressure policy, it is committed to bringing the Iranian regime’s illegal oil and petrochemical exports to minimum levels.
