In the case of alleged illegal groundwater exploitation in Noida and Greater Noida, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Uttar Pradesh Ground Water Department to investigate the complaint and take action as per rules. The tribunal has said that if during investigation, illegally operated tube wells or borewells are found, then punitive and corrective action should be taken against them under legal provisions.
