Now we are finding out that Wayne Madsen’s shoulder has dislocated and he will not play further in today’s match against Scotland. At present, there is no information available about whether Madsen will be able to play in the further tournament or not.

Madsen was fielding at midwicket in the fourth over of the first innings when he tried to stop a pull shot from George Munsey. When he jumped to his left to catch the ball, he fell on his shoulder on the ground, after which he immediately sought medical help. Groaning in pain, he soon tied a towel on his left hand and walked out of the field.
Madsen is Italy’s most experienced player
42-year-old Madsen is Italy’s most experienced cricketer. Playing his first T20 World Cup, he was taken for X-ray as soon as he left the field. Even a minor shoulder dislocation takes seven to 21 days to heal completely, whereas if the case is serious, it may take three to four months to heal.

In international cricket, no replacement is still allowed in the playing eleven if players are injured. Currently, replacement is allowed only if a player suffers a head injury (concussion). Madsen was named captain of Italy for the 2026 T20 World Cup after Joe Burns was not selected for the tournament. This is his first World Cup for Italy, whereas he was a part of the men’s hockey team for South Africa in the 2006 World Cup.
Scotland scored 207 runs
In this Group C match being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Italy won the toss and decided to bowl first and handed the bat to Scotland. Thanks to opener George Munsey’s powerful inning of 84 runs in 54 balls, Scotland scored 207 runs losing four wickets. In the last overs, Michael Leask also played an explosive unbeaten inning of 22 runs in five balls.
