America has officially revealed its major military operation Operation Epic Fury amidst the ongoing war in West Asia. According to information given in Washington, the US Army targeted more than a thousand military and strategic targets of Iran in the first 24 hours of the campaign. The attack, which combined air, sea, cyber and space capabilities, is being considered one of the largest coordinated military operations in recent years.

American military officials said that this operation was part of a long-planned strategy. Air Force Gen. Dan Cain, chairman of the Joint Chiefs Committee, said during a press conference at the Pentagon that the operation was launched on February 28 after the President’s approval. Large-scale attacks were carried out in the initial phase itself so as to weaken Iran’s military response capability.

Simultaneous attack by air, sea and land

According to General Kane, more than 100 fighter and support aircraft were involved in the operation. These included fighter jets, tanker aircraft, airborne early warning systems, electronic attack platforms and pilotless drones. Apart from this, long range bomber aircraft also took part in the mission. US carrier strike groups and naval forces launched sustained attacks from the sea.

First cyber and space attack, then military action

Before the direct bombing, US Cyber ​​Command and Space Command targeted Iran’s surveillance and communications systems, officials said. Iran’s response capability was disrupted through these non-military but strategic attacks. After this, kinetic strikes i.e. actual military attacks started, in which even underground targets were targeted.

Role of the B-2 bomber and long range missions

The American B-2 stealth bomber flew from America and completed a 37-hour long mission and dropped bombs on deep underground targets. Over the course of approximately 57 hours, joint American forces launched hundreds of missions from land and sea and used thousands of munitions. This operation was described as a great example of technical and military coordination.
