
The strong storm and rain that occurred in many districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday caused huge devastation. Trees and electric poles fell due to strong winds, disrupting power supply at many places. 96 people died in different districts due to the storm and water, while more than 50 people were injured. Maximum number of people have died in Varanasi, Prayagraj and Kanpur divisions.
In rural areas, kutcha houses and tin sheds were blown away, while crops also suffered huge damage. Traffic on the roads was affected due to heavy rain and dust storm. Traffic was disrupted due to falling trees at many places. Among those who died, 18 were in Bhadohi, 15 in Mirzapur, 17 in Prayagraj, 4 each in Pratapgarh and Bareilly, 10 in Fatehpur, 6 each in Unnao and Badaun, 2 each in Sitapur, Rae Bareli, Chandauli, Kanpur Dehat, Hardoi and Sambhal, 2 each in Kaushambi, Shahjahanpur, Sonbhadra and Lakhimpurkheri. One person at a time is involved.

CM gave instructions to give compensation to the victims within 24 hours
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to provide compensation to the victims of damage caused by unseasonal rain, storm and lightning in the state. He said that the work of providing relief to the victims should be completed within 24 hours. The CM also expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. He has instructed the District Magistrates of all the districts and officials of other departments to reach the spot and provide all possible assistance to the victims.
Banda remained hottest in the state with 45.4 degrees Celsius
While in the state there was some relief from the heat apart from the damage caused by the stormy rains, on the other hand in the southern districts including Bundelkhand, the scorching sun and scorching heat made people miserable. Banda was the hottest city of the state with a temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, temperature was recorded at 44.5 degree Celsius in Jhansi, 43.5 in Prayagraj, 43.2 in Hamirpur and 41 degree Celsius in Orai. According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist of Zonal Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, the temperature will gradually increase from Thursday.
