The firing incident that took place in a school in Turkey on Wednesday created a stir. A student opened fire on a school campus, killing at least four people and injuring more than 20, according to the AP. Quoting officials, it has been said that the attacking student suddenly started firing, due to which there was chaos in the school.
Attacking students also killed
A student opened fire in two classrooms at a school in south-eastern Turkey on Wednesday, killing four people and wounding 20 others, an official said. Kahanamaras province governor Mukarram Unluar said the student attacker had also been killed. The weapons recovered from him are said to belong to his police officer father.
There was chaos in the school
He said a teacher was also among the victims. The motive behind the attack was not immediately known. After the incident, there was panic in the entire area and security forces surrounded the school premises and controlled the situation. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. Video footage from the scene showed at least two people being taken away in an ambulance.
There was firing a day before also
It is noteworthy that a day earlier, 16 people, mostly students, were injured when a former student opened fire at a high school in nearby Shanliurfa province. The 18-year-old attacker, armed with a shotgun, opened fire indiscriminately at the vocational high school in Siverek in Sanliurfa province and then hid in the building. Later he also killed himself with the same shotgun.
There was also an attack on the Consulate
Even before this, on April 7, several unknown attackers had tried to attack the Israeli Consulate building in Istanbul. Turkish police took action and killed three attackers, while two policemen were injured. Footage shared by Reuters showed a police officer taking out a gun and taking cover amid the sound of gunfire, along with a man who appeared to be covered in blood. There was chaos after the incident.
