On this occasion, the Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam, giving the message of promoting positive, nation-building forces in the society and strongly opposing divisive and unjust elements.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to the martyrs and said that the indiscriminate firing on unarmed people in Jallianwala Bagh on April 13, 1919 had exposed the inhuman face of the British rule. He said that this heinous incident shocked the entire country and further ignited the flame of freedom in the minds of revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh.
Describing it as a historic and decisive turning point in the Indian freedom struggle, he said that it was from here that the freedom struggle got a new direction and momentum, which ultimately played an important role in India getting independence.
