
At midnight in the Nagal area on the Sidki-Jhabreda road, a truck loaded with gravel, mounted on the under-construction bridge of the Kali river near village Bohdupur, overturned on the tents of laborers sleeping nearby. During the accident, five laborers were buried under gravel.
Hearing the noise, nearby villagers reached the spot and informed the police. After a lot of hard work, everyone together removed the gravel and took out all five in critical condition and admitted them to the district hospital. There three laborers Asghar, Istakhar, Shokeen resident of Jatowala police station Mirzapur were declared dead while two Gulfam resident Jatowala and Karmaveer resident of Asgarpur are undergoing treatment in critical condition.
The driver ran away after the accident. Villagers told that work on the bridge has been going on for one and a half months. At night, the driver climbed onto the bridge instead of taking the adjacent alternative route and an accident occurred. It is said that 15 workers had gone on leave just two days ago. If he had also been in the tent, many more lives could have been in danger. CO Deoband Abhitesh Singh said that the truck was carrying gravel in Kheda Mughal area. The driver is being searched.
