A major accident occurred on Wednesday when a private vehicle fell into the Dras river of Ladakh. Three people have tragically died in this accident and one person is missing. This accident took place on the intervening night of June 23-24 in Marpuchu area of Dras district.
As soon as information about the accident was received, local police and rescue teams immediately reached the spot. They launched a massive rescue operation to find the missing people. There were many difficulties in the rescue operation due to the darkness of the night and the strong flow of the river.
By Wednesday morning, three bodies had been recovered from the river. The search for the missing fourth person is still going on. Police have registered the case and started investigation. The causes of the accident are being investigated. The local administration has expressed grief over the incident.
