
Three people have been arrested while a minor has been detained for publicly humiliating a 28-year-old woman and her daughter in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district. Police gave this information on Friday.
After blackening the faces of the victims, they were paraded on foot by their neighbors on March 29 in Bhabhanagar Colony under Sadar police station area.
Sadar police station Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjeev Besra said, “So far we have arrested three people, including two women, and detained a minor. Accused Gunja Srivastava (32) was arrested on Wednesday. Earlier, the main accused Pankaj Singh (28) and Santana Kumari (28) were arrested.
DSP said that the accused were arrested after the FIR was registered on the basis of written complaints of the victims.
He said that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Act and the Indian Justice Code.
According to Sadar police station in-charge Kuldeep Kumar, during the investigation it came to light that four-five days before the incident, the husband of the victim woman had taken Pankaj’s motorcycle without informing him and they are neighbors and live in rented houses in the same colony.

He told that Pankaj had accused the victim’s husband of stealing his motorcycle and the woman (victim) admitted that her husband had taken the motorcycle and he would return it.
The station in-charge said that on the day of the incident, the accused, along with his girlfriend and two other people, caught the victim and her daughter, smeared black color on her face and humiliated her in public.
Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee’s media president Satish Paul Munjini has strongly condemned the inhuman treatment of a tribal woman and her daughter.
Munzini demanded strict action against all those involved in this incident.
Earlier on Thursday, some tribal organizations demonstrated in the colony. He condemned the incident and demanded strict punishment for the accused.
