Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a big claim after the Victory Day parade. Putin believes that the ongoing conflict with Ukraine is now moving towards its end. He held the global elite, the ‘globalist wing’ of the Western countries, directly responsible for instigating this war. According to Putin, Western countries have used Ukraine as a weapon to fulfill their geopolitical interests. He said that Russia’s interests were completely ignored and the Russian army was attacked by Ukraine.
Putin mentioned Istanbul Agreement
President Putin reminded of the Istanbul Agreement of 2022 and said that at that time Kiev was ready for the agreement. He claimed that Ukraine had also signed the initial documents, but later stepped back under pressure from countries like France and Britain. Putin said that President Macron and the then British Prime Minister stopped Ukraine by saying that it was an unfair agreement. Putin raised the question that when the Ukrainian delegation itself was ready, how could outside powers call it inappropriate? According to him, it is Western military aid that has prolonged this war.

Attempts to destroy Russia failed
Putin expressed cautious optimism as the war enters its fifth year. He said that the West expected that they would crush Russia and destroy its state power within a few months, but they completely failed in this. Now they themselves are trapped in this quagmire. Putin also expressed hope that in the future there will be political changes in Europe and that powers will come to power that will prioritize better relations with Russia.
Three-day ceasefire after Trump’s mediation
This statement has come at a time when US President Donald Trump has announced a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. This temporary peace agreement took place on the occasion of Russia’s ‘Victory Day’ celebrations. According to Trump, President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky have agreed to this brief ceasefire. However, the international community is still hoping for a permanent solution to this war and restoration of peace through dialogue.
