
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson in Mumbai has made a big disclosure that in the last three years, the company has fired more than 1000 employees in cases of ethical breach. This action has been taken in cases which included violation of rules by employees, misuse of facilities and ignoring aviation safety standards.
Strict stance on wrong conduct
Air India CEO said that every year disciplinary action is taken against hundreds of employees because they do not follow company rules. He stressed that employees should do the right thing even when no one is watching. He also said that cases like smuggling of luggage, non-charging of excess baggage and misuse of employee leisure travel system by some employees have come to light.
Investigation and action on 4000 employees
According to sources, Air India has detected large-scale irregularities in its Employee Leave Travel (ELT) system, in which more than 4000 employees were found involved. After this the company took several corrective steps and also imposed a fine.
Warning of cost cuts and difficult times
Tata Group’s Air India has recently implemented several cost-cutting measures. These include stopping the annual salary increase of employees and cutting non-essential expenses. The CEO warned the employees that the times ahead could be challenging, especially considering the global circumstances and the situation in the Middle East. According to the report, Air India Group is expected to suffer a loss of more than Rs 22,000 crore in FY 2026. The company is currently focusing on financial improvement and increasing operational efficiency.
