New Delhi: In the 9th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, South Africa made a winning start by defeating Canada by 57 runs. This match between South Africa and Canada was played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the match, South Africa batted first after losing the toss and scored 213 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, the Canadian team scored only 156 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Canada’s chase against South Africa did not have a special start. Captain Dilpreet Bajwa was out on the first ball of the innings. However, Navneet Dhaliwar tried to fight South Africa for some time by scoring 64 runs and Harsh Thakar scored 33 runs, but this effort proved unsuccessful. In bowling, Lungi Ngidi took four wickets for South Africa. Other than this. Marco Jansen took 2 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Boss took one wicket each.

Talking about South Africa’s batting, captain Aiden Markram led from the front and scored an aggressive half-century, taking the team to 213 runs for four wickets in the T20 World Cup Group D match against Canada. Markram scored 59 runs in 32 balls. Quinton de Kock scored 25 runs in 22 balls and hit two consecutive fours to Saad Bin Zafar. Both of them made a partnership of 70 runs in 6.5 overs for the first wicket and gave advice to all the bowlers.

The first blow to South Africa came in the form of De Kock, who became the victim of Canadian captain and right arm fast bowler Dilpreet Bajwa. Markram completed his half-century in just 28 balls by hitting a four off Bajwa. Whereas Ryan Rickelton scored 31 runs in 21 balls with three fours and one six. Makaram was caught by left arm spinner Ansh Patel at long-on by Heliger. After this, Rickelton also returned by giving a direct catch to Harsh Thaker on Patel’s ball. In the end, experienced David Miller scored unbeaten 39 runs in 23 balls and Tristan Stubbs scored 34 runs in 19 balls to give a big score to South Africa.
