Sourav Ganguly on Usman Tariq: Before the match against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly said that spinner Usman Tariq has no power. Ganguly believes that Indian batsmen should not face any problem in playing against Usman Tariq.

Sourav Ganguly’s statement on Usman Tariq
New Delhi: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has described Pakistan’s Usman Tariq as an ordinary off-spinner. Usman, who releases the ball only after taking a short break in his ‘delivery stride’, is being discussed a lot because of this. Ganguly believes that the Indian batsmen will play him well in the T20 World Cup match. India and Pakistan will face each other in a Group A match in Colombo on Sunday and 28-year-old Tariq has been the talk of the town before the match.
The Indian batsmen will face the right-arm spinner who has taken 11 wickets in just four T20 Internationals so far. Bengal Cricket Association President Ganguly told reporters during the T20 World Cup magazine launch here, “It is difficult to predict in T20, but India is a good team and it is not easy to beat them.” He said, “Nothing is difficult, he (Tariq) is an off-spinner and he just bowls intermittently. India will play it well. ”
Less chances of change in Team India’s playing XI
However, Ganguly is hopeful that India will field the playing eleven against Pakistan without any changes. He said, “Akshar (Patel), Varun (Chakraborty), (Jasprit) Bumrah and Arshdeep (Singh) should be the main bowlers. I don’t think Rinku (Singh) should be replaced by Kuldeep (Yadav) because you have to keep balance in the batting department as well. I think the same team should play. ”
He said, “India will play well.” When asked about opener Abhishek Sharma, Ganguly said that the focus should be on the team. He said, “One person does not matter.” The former BCCI president also said that the current Pakistani team is not the same as before. Ganguly said, “If you look at the skill of batsmen like Inzamam (Ul Haq), Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yusuf, Wasim (Akram), Waqar (Younis), it was a different team. This team is not the same anymore. ”
