A 17-year-old girl was doused with petrol and burnt just a hundred meters away from Mohammadpur Khala police station premises in Barabanki on Thursday afternoon. Late in the evening he died during treatment in the burn ward of Civil Hospital, Lucknow.
In the statement given to the police before his death, he took the name of the young man working at the petrol pump of the town and said that he was the one who had said that he would set fire. According to the video available with Samvad News Agency, after taking the name of the young man, the girl’s voice started wavering and she could not say anything further.
The family members have accused her of murder after rape. Two to three people are suspected to be involved in the case. According to the people present at the spot, the girl had no clothes on her body. Police is investigating all aspects. The accused youth is also being searched.
According to family members, the girl had left the house at around 12 noon to defecate. At around 12:16, information came to the elder sister that she was lying in a burnt condition in a field about 150 meters away from the house. The sister says that when she reached the spot with her family, there were no clothes on her body.
It was covered with a quilt lying on a scaffold in a nearby field. According to the police, people came running after hearing smoke and screams coming from behind the police station. The seriously burnt girl was taken to the hospital. A bottle of petrol and water has also been recovered from the spot. The girl, who suffered burns up to 80 percent, has taken the name of a petrol pump employee.
