
The entire state was shaken by the horrific road accidents that took place in different districts of Odisha on Saturday. According to the information given by the police, five people lost their lives in these accidents that took place within the last 24 hours, while 31 people were seriously injured. The most painful accident happened on National Highway-16 of the capital Bhubaneswar.
Truck wreaks havoc on overbridge
An uncontrolled truck hit two motorcycles and a scooter near Fire Station Chhak in Bhubaneswar on Saturday evening. In this accident, three people died on the spot. According to eyewitnesses, the collision was so severe that a woman’s head got separated from her body and fell on the road. At the time of the accident, these people were going from Shaheed Nagar towards Khandagiri. The truck driver has fled from the spot, the search for which is ongoing. After this incident, there was a long traffic jam on Kolkata-Chennai Highway.
Collision between pilgrims bus and truck
There was a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Ganjam district on Saturday morning. This bus was going from Polasara to Puri carrying about 30 pilgrims. The truck driver died and 15 passengers were injured in this collision. The injured are being treated at Kodala Hospital and MKCG Medical College.
The happiness of marriage turned into mourning
Speed havoc was also seen in Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh districts. An SUV filled with wedding guests collided with a truck and overturned in Betnati police station area of Mayurbhanj, injuring 13 people. At the same time, in Talsara area of Sundergarh, three bike-riding youths going to a wedding became victims of an accident on Friday night. One youth died on the spot, while two others were seriously injured.
