Russia: Stabbing in Russian university, six injured including four Indian students; Embassy said unfortunate – Four Indian Students Among Several Injured In Stabbing Attack In Russia University

At least six people, including four Indian students, were injured in a knife attack at a university hostel in Russia’s Bashkortostan republic on Saturday. This incident took place in the dormitory of the State Medical University located in Ufa city.

According to preliminary information, a teenager entered the hostel carrying a knife and attacked the students living there. Russia’s Interior Ministry said the attacker also stabbed two police officers while trying to arrest him. Apart from this, the accused also seriously injured himself.

According to Interior Ministry spokeswoman Major General Irina Volk, the accused resisted arrest and turned violent. The attacker, described as 15 years old, was admitted to a local children’s hospital in critical condition.

The Embassy of India described the incident as unfortunate and confirmed that four Indian students were among the injured. The embassy said it is in touch with the local administration and officials from the Indian Consulate in Kazan have left for Ufa to provide necessary assistance to the injured students.

Accused member of banned neo-Nazi organization

According to the Russian Federal Health Ministry, four people injured in the attack are undergoing treatment, one of whom is in serious condition and three are in moderate condition. Ufa administration has started a high-level investigation into the incident. At the same time, Telegram channel ‘Baja’ has claimed that the accused was associated with a banned neo-Nazi organization.

Media reports quoting eyewitnesses said that there was blood all around the incident site and the injured were taken to the hospital via ambulance.
