There was a fierce fight between the two parties late on Friday night regarding the route of Tajiya in Thegha village of Prayagraj. When the police tried to explain, one party pelted stones at the police team. Six policemen including Anapur outpost in-charge Akash Sachan were injured in the attack. An FIR has been registered against 21 named and 50 unidentified people in the case. 12 accused have been arrested and sent to jail.
According to Nawabganj police, Thegha resident Mohd. Instead of the old route, Salim was insisting on taking out the tazia through the stairs built on the land of a school. As the dispute escalated, the tehsil administration got the measurement done by the revenue team. Investigation revealed that the staircase in question is neither a public road nor built on government land.
