Rajasthan: Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham claims, ‘Crime against women has reduced compared to Gehlot Raj’

In Rajasthan Assembly, Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham took on Congress on the issue of law and order. Comparing the statistics of the tenure of the previous Ashok Gehlot government and the present Bhajan Lal government, he claimed that now the criminals in the state are in fear and there has been a huge decline in the crime graph.

Speaking in the House, Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham said that the cases of atrocities against women have decreased in the last two years. He presented the following figures:

  • 2023 (Gehlot government): 42,174 cases of atrocities against women were registered.
  • 2024 (Bhajanlal government): This number decreased to around 37,700.
  • 2025: Even at present the figures are around 37,900, which is much less than the previous regime.

Bedam said, “This news should be published in the newspapers that two years ago atrocities against women were at their peak, whereas today the situation has improved a lot under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.”

Big steps taken for security

The Minister of State for Home also shared details of the efforts made for the safety of women and children in the state:

  • Anti Romeo Squad: Formation of special squads to control miscreants.
  • Kalika Unit: 500 ‘Kalika Units’ have been deployed in 41 districts of the state.
  • Women Help Desk and Police Stations: Quick disposal of complaints through 49 women police stations and help desks.
  • Empowered women, it is our responsibility: Girls are being empowered by giving them training for self-defense.

Taunt on the detention of former MLA Baljeet Yadav

Bedam made a scathing attack on former Behror MLA Baljeet Yadav being detained by ED. He said, “The man who was fighting an ostentatious fight against corruption wearing black clothes, today his MLA fund scam has been exposed. Our government is forthright; no matter how big the corrupt person is, strict action will be taken against him.”

In the end, the Minister reiterated that due to the strict monitoring of the Chief Minister and the policy of ‘zero tolerance’ against criminals, an environment of peace and security has been created in Rajasthan.
