There is a political conflict between the government and the opposition regarding the Right to Health Act in Rajasthan. BJP and Congress are face to face regarding this. While Congress is accusing the Rajasthan government of playing with the health of the people of the state, BJP has presented an absurd argument saying that what is the use of implementing a scheme for which we do not get credit. However, amidst the political turmoil, the Right to Health scheme in the state seems to be in danger. If this happens then the health and treatment of 8 crore people of Rajasthan may be in danger.
This controversy started in Rajasthan two days ago when, during the assembly proceedings, the state’s Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar raised questions about the need for this scheme. The minister said in the House of Assembly that he felt that this scheme was unnecessary. The then Ashok Gehlot government had brought it in a hurry without any preparation in view of political gains. From this statement of the Health Minister in the House of Assembly, it is believed that the government is not at all interested in the Right to Health scheme and it may soon announce its abolition.
Gehlot government had brought the Right to Health law
In fact, the Right to Health law was brought by the previous Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan about 8 months before the assembly elections. Many provisions were made in it including cashless treatment. People were getting a lot of benefit from the treatment. Many people were taking benefit of this scheme. This is the reason why when the Health Minister raised questions about this scheme in the Assembly House and other ministers of the government and BJP MLAs came to his defence, the Congress became the attacker.
Government is working with the spirit of political vendetta β Gehlot
Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot seriously accused the current Bhajan Lal Sharma government of the state of working out of political vendetta. Talking to the media, he said that his government has started the Right to Health scheme, that is why the present government is trying to end it.
Government should not play with public health β Gehlot
Former CM Ashok Gehlot said, “If the government wants to target the government politically then it should take revenge from them.” One should not play with the health of eight crore people of the state with the intention of taking political revenge.” Congress MLA Harimohan Sharma has also targeted the government. He has clearly said that the present government itself is not doing anything and is busy in closing the schemes started during the Congress rule. This will never be allowed to happen and it will be opposed from the streets to the House.
Congress wants to take credit for this scheme β BJP
On the other hand, an absurd argument has come forward from BJP regarding this issue. Gopal Sharma, BJP MLA from Jaipur city, said, βThe minister made such a statement because the Congress wants to take credit for the scheme. According to him, what is the use of implementing such schemes, for which the government and the ruling party do not get credit.
What did Law Minister Jogaram Patel say?
However, amid the political tussle, the government’s Law Minister Jogaram Patel said, “At present there is no plan to close the Right to Health scheme.” The plan can be reviewed. Further improvements can be made in it, because Gehlot government had implemented it in haste just to take political advantage. Now it remains to be seen whether 8 crore people of Rajasthan get the benefit of Right to Health Scheme in the coming days or this scheme is put on hold due to political tussle.
