Punjab Weather Update: The weather pattern has changed in Punjab and Chandigarh since last few days. The weather has become cold due to rain and hailstorm. The temperature has fallen by 0.7 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, which is 2.6 degrees Celsius below normal. This has provided some relief to the people from the scorching heat.

There is a possibility of rain in about 6 districts of the state on 6th April. The highest temperature recorded in Patiala was 31 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature had earlier reached 35 degrees Celsius.

Possibility of light rain in many areas

The change in weather in the state is being seen since yesterday. In some areas, rain and hailstorm fell in the evening, while in many places it rained from 3 to 6 in the morning. Now light to moderate rain is expected in some areas of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar and Mohali.

Rain recorded in many districts

Fazilka (Abohar) received maximum rainfall of 20.5 mm till 5 pm on Saturday evening. Apart from this, Thein Dam of Pathankot received 6.0 mm rainfall, while Amritsar and Ferozepur received 4.0 mm rainfall.

At other places, like Pathankot KVK received 2.5 mm rainfall and Ropar KVK received 1.0 mm rainfall. Whereas Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala and Mohali remained dry during the day, but it rained throughout the night.

How will the weather be in the next days?

According to the Meteorological Department, the Western Disturbance is still active over Central Pakistan and extends to a height of 3 to 10 kilometers. The cyclonic system over north-eastern Pakistan has now moved towards Punjab and is situated at a height of about 1.5 kilometers. Along with this, strong western winds (jet stream) are blowing over Northern India at a speed of about 125 knots at a height of 12.6 kilometers. The Meteorological Department says that a new western disturbance may affect north-western India from April 7, 2026.

Meteorological Department Director Surendra Pal said, “There may be sporadic rain on April 6.” during the next 24 hours Season There will be no major change.” He also said, “The maximum temperature will increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next two days and will decrease by 3-5 degrees Celsius in the next two days. Apart from this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain on April 7 and 8.”
