New information has come to light in the investigation into the death of Pune-based real estate businessman Ketan Aggarwal. Police claim that this alleged murder was committed because accused Siya Goyal did not want to marry her fiance Ketan Aggarwal. According to investigators, during interrogation, Sia Goyal admitted that she found it easier to eliminate Ketan Aggarwal rather than canceling the arranged marriage because she did not want to disappoint her family.
Siya’s family members are being interrogated
Sources say that this alleged confession has come at a time when the police is deeply investigating the role of Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary. The digital evidence related to the alleged conspiracy is also being closely examined by the investigating agencies. As part of the investigation, Pune and Lonavala police have formed six special teams to investigate the matter. According to the police, Siya Goyal’s parents are currently being interrogated at the Lonavala City Police Station, while her brother Sahil Goyal has also been called for the second round of questioning.
Who conspired to murder Siya?
According to police, real estate businessman Ketan Aggarwal died after falling from a cliff at Lohgarh Fort on June 18. Investigators allege that Sia Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary had conspired together to murder her because Sia did not want to get married in November. According to Pune Rural Police sources, during interrogation, Siya Goyal told investigators that she felt it would be ‘easier’ to kill her fiance rather than facing the family and breaking the marriage. According to sources, she also said that she did not want to hurt her family’s sentiments by refusing the marriage.
Why was Siya not ready for marriage?
According to a report in India Today, Siya told the police during interrogation that she felt that if she killed Ketan, she would get at least three more years to get married. At the same time, her lover Chetan Chaudhary also wanted two to three years more time for marriage. For this reason, both of them found it easiest to remove Ketan from the way, because if Siya refused to marry her family, she was afraid that it would bring shame to the family in the society.
When did Siya and Chetan grow closer?
During the interrogation that lasted for about 10 hours, Sahil Goyal told the police that he knew Chetan Chaudhary and his sister Sia first met Chetan during a cricket match. According to investigators, the two grew close after meeting again at a Diwali party at a common friend’s house last year.
What did the CDR report reveal?
Investigators also claim that call detail records (CDR) have revealed that there were more than 2,000 conversations between Siya Goyal and Chetan Choudhary since January. The total conversation time between the two was around 238 hours. However, according to the police, Sia’s parents have denied ever meeting or talking to Chetan Chaudhary. At the same time, Sia Goyal’s lawyer says that Chetan and Sia are just friends. Police say that they have got important clues regarding the alleged role of both the accused. Now the investigating agencies are trying to recover the deleted data from the mobile phones of both, so that the evidence related to the alleged conspiracy can be further strengthened.
