Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally failed to get the huge numbers it wanted to march through London, with police confident less than half joined his protest on Saturday compared with an event last year.
The far-right protest came on the same day as a pro-Palestinian march, and the Metropolitan police said that 43 arrests had been made at both events.
Police said 20 arrested attended the UTK march, including nine for alleged hate crimes; while 12 people detained were on the pro-Palestinian march, including two for alleged hate crimes.
In September the march spearheaded by Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, drew an estimated 150,000 people to the capital. The Met estimated Saturday’s event drew 60,000 people, still a sizeable crowd for a British protest, but well short of the million or more attendees organisers were hoping for to demonstrate their power.
Among the arrests of those attending the Unite the Kingdom rally were several instances of alleged hateful insults directed at officers. One officer from a minority ethnic background is alleged to have been told “fuck off back home”, two were allegedly subjected to a term of homophobic abuse, another officer was allegedly told “take your religion and fuck off”.
Two suspects already arrested on suspicion of other offences also allegedly racially abused officers, directing the N-word at them.
One man was arrested for actual bodily harm after getting on a coach about to take pro-Palestinian protestors home, and allegedly punching someone in the face after being told to leave.
Other arrests included three for holding placards including ones that said “fuck Islam”, and “Christ is king, fuck Islam”, with the crowd earlier from the stage being led in a chant of “Christ is king”.
A woman was arrested close to the King Charles roundabout in Whitehall for possessing an offensive weapon, namely a sword approximately three feet in length. One onlooker on the march described her as being in costume as an English soldier, and the woman complied with police.
The Met said five officers had allegedly been assaulted and none required hospital treatment.
Saturday’s far right protest had much less hostility to police than the previous one in September, when more than 20 officers were allegedly assaulted, with more than 50 suspects still being hunted for a variety of allegations.
On the stage, Robinson who compered the event, denied his was a far-right movement, saying: “We are a cultural movement.”
He has spoken about converting to Christianity after a spell in prison last year, and the event featured Christian iconography such as crosses. The crowd were invited to recite the Lord’s prayer.
Police believe the number of arrests were relatively low given the size of the crowds, and the Met said the events had “passed off without any significant incidents”.
Also taking place on Saturday was the FA cup final at Wembley, where 22 arrests were made. At the pro-Palestinian march, the first since two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green in a terrorist attack, one person was arrested for holding a sign reading: “Globalise the intifada”. It is alleged to be a call for violence against Jews.
Another person was arrested for a sign pledging support for the proscribed group Palestine Action, and another for a sign reading “We will not surrender, victory or martyrdom”.
Police are studying a further seven videos of written slogans and chants in case they cross the criminal threshold of anti-Jewish hate speech, amid claims police are stifling legitimate protest.
The Met say the pro-Palestinian march, which included anti-racist counterprotesters to the Robinson-led march, numbered 15,000 to 20,000. March organisers claim 250,000 attended.
Police placed tight conditions on both events with speeches from their stages watched for any potential offences. A stunt on the UTK stage, where three people appeared on stage in burqas, bemusing the crowd before revealing themselves to be white women, has been judged not to be a criminal offence.
The Met deployed 4,000 officers in total, with some brought in from other forces, in what they say was one of their largest operations in recent years.

Darby Allin’s opponents line up and he knocks them down, and it was proven again on All Elite Wrestling (AEW)’s “Collision” on Saturday night.
Sammy Guevara challenged Allin to an AEW World Championship match at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event. Guevara is one half of the Ring of Honor tag team champions. He thrust himself into the world title picture as Allin appeared set to face Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) at Double or Nothing next week in New York City.

Allin made five consecutive title defenses since he won the title from MJF. He defeated Tommaso Ciampa, Brody King, Kevin Knight, Pac and Konosuke Takeshita. Guevara became another number on Saturday.
When it comes to both Allin and Guevara, fans expected there to be some high-flying action even if it put both men in danger. Guevara set Allin up on a table and climbed a ladder in hopes of doing enough damage to keep his opponent down for good.
Guevara hit a loco dive off the ladder. But it was far from enough to put Allin away.
Allin survived a Spanish fly and avoided a 450 splash from Guevara off the top rope. Guevara went crashing through a table. Allin rolled Guevara back into the ring and hit one Coffin Drop to put the challenger away.
Mark Briscoe makes electrifying return
Mark Briscoe was back in AEW after being out a few months, following an assault from Tomaso Ciampa.
He teamed with Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly, part of the faction known as The Conglomeration, to take on Lee Moriarty, Shawn Dean and Jay Triller, known as Shane Taylor Promotions, in a world trios title elimination match.
Briscoe got the tag and the crowd in Sailsbury, Maryland, went wild. He used a chair to take out his three opponents. He hit a Froggy Bow and a Jay Driller to pin Dean.
He will now turn his attention to Ciampa in a no disqualifications match on the next episode of “Collision,” which will come Wednesday as part of a three-hour special with “Dynamite.”

Will Ospreay addresses Samoa Joe before Owen Hart clash

Will Ospreay will take on Samoa Joe in the first round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament as he looks to get a shot at the AEW World Championship at All In.
Joe had been trying to keep Ospreay away from The Death Riders in recent weeks as Ospreay trained with the group in order to get cleared to return to an AEW ring. Ospreay even appeared to have The Death Riders in his corner while Joe sent Katsuyori Shibata and Anthony Bowens out to attack him.
On “Collision,” Ospreay had words for Joe.
“Joe, my apologies for not getting back to any of your messages – been a little bit busy training and getting myself ready for the Owen,” he said. “Surprise, surprise to see you there in the opening round, matey. It’s gonna be a tough one, but if you can just bear with me for a hot second while I explain to you. Six months of my life got taken away from me, mate. Six months I’ve been sitting in front of a TV screen watching AEW, looking at it, trying to get strength back in my arms, rushing to get back. You know, six months. Six months of frustration, six months of anger and then I finally had my kill shot at Dynasty and I lost. Ever since then, I’ve been struggling with my matches. The doctor even stopped one of them for my own safety. I’m annoyed I didn’t get revenge on Jon (Moxley).
“But I’m more upset at the idea that I can’t be the guy AEW put their trust in once upon a time. Regardless how I feel about Jon, regardless how I feel about The Death Riders, there’s nothing I can say that will make people ever understand. But Jon Moxley, he’s the ace. He’s a soldier for this place and while his methods might be sick, the people that stand opposite of him get elevated. So, what could happen with him in my corner?
“Joe, I got nothing but respect for you – everything you’ve done in this industry. You were in the match that made me want to become a pro wrestler. But no one, no one is stopping me from winning the Owen. And I find it very poetic that the man that took away my old life has given me a second chance at capturing the world championship.”

The killing of Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the recently appointed head of Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has dealt a symbolic blow to the Palestinian group in Gaza, but the impact on its military operations is far from certain.
Al-Haddad was killed on Friday in a sophisticated dual-strike on a residential apartment in Gaza City’s Remal neighbourhood and a vehicle attempting to flee the scene. The delivery of heavy munitions into a densely populated area, packed with displaced civilians, killed seven other Palestinians, including women and children, and wounded 50 people.
Yet, despite Israeli claims that the killing will cripple the group’s operational capacity, analysts argue that its decentralised nature is built to absorb such shocks. As the region watches to see how the resistance faction will respond, al-Haddad’s death raises critical questions about the future of the fragile “ceasefire” and who remains to lead the Qassam Brigades.
The killings of Qassam Brigades commanders, including Mohammed Deif, Marwan Issa, and Yahya Sinwar’s brother Mohammed, left al-Haddad as the key military figure managing the fight against Israel.
Saeed Ziad, a Palestinian political analyst, told Al Jazeera that while the loss is a “massive symbolic and moral blow” to Palestinians, the immediate operational impact on Hamas’s armed wing will be limited.
“The Qassam Brigades are not built on a hierarchical, sequential structure, but a parallel one,” Ziad explained. “Over the past two decades, Hamas has transitioned into a decentralised guerrilla force. Units operate as isolated, self-sufficient groups with their own logistical supply lines and combat doctrines.”
“If a brigade or battalion loses its commander, the group already knows its mission and has the resources to execute it independently,” he said. Reorganising the Qassam Brigades’ central command to cope with the loss will likely take mere days, not months.
Furthermore, al-Haddad had successfully utilised the October ceasefire with Israel to rebuild the group’s infrastructure. “Over the past 200 days, he reconstructed the resistance’s capabilities – its tunnels, weaponry and combat formations – making it capable of defending itself once again,” Ziad noted.
Israeli officials have boasted that they are close to dismantling Hamas’s central command, claiming that only two members of the military council before the pre-October 2023 attacks on Israel – Mohammed Awad and Imad Aqel – are alive.
However, analysts point out that Hamas’s military wing, which boasted roughly 50,000 fighters before the war, possesses a deep bench of cadres and a strict protocol for leadership succession that enables it to quickly recover when commanders are killed.
“The resistance typically appoints a first, second, and third deputy for every active commander, from the general commander down to the platoon leaders,” Ziad said. “Filling these voids happens rapidly.”
Hamas immediately confirmed Haddad’s death, with spokesperson Hazem Qassem officially mourning him as the “General Commander” of the Qassam Brigades. He stressed that despite his death being a “massive loss”, the group’s “long journey of resistance continues”.
Born in the early 1970s, al-Haddad joined Hamas upon its inception in 1987. He rose through the ranks from an infantry soldier to commander of the group’s Gaza City Brigade, overseeing six battalions – each consisting of 1,000 fighters plus 4,000 support personnel.
He played a foundational role in establishing al-Majd – Hamas’s internal security apparatus designed to track down Israeli intelligence collaborators. But it was his ability to survive multiple assassination attempts – including bombings of his home in 2009, 2012, 2021, and three separate times during the current genocidal war on Gaza – that earned him the moniker “Ghost”.
Al-Haddad left an indelible strategic mark on the movement as a primary architect of the October 7, 2023 attacks. He personally oversaw the breach of the eastern fence, directed elite units that stormed the Re’im military base and the Fajja outpost. According to intelligence reports, it was al-Haddad who handed localised commanders a paper hours before the attack detailing the operation and ordering the capture of Israeli soldiers.
In January 2025, an Israeli air raid killed his son, Suhaib, but al-Haddad survived and continued to command operations and oversee the detention of Israeli captives until a deal was reached.
Shortly after Friday’s strike, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz issued a rare joint statement, boasting that the killing was carried out under their direct orders.
Mohannad Mustafa, an analyst of Israeli affairs, said al-Haddad’s killing shows that Israel is attempting to “normalise” blatant violations of the “ceasefire” agreement, while the Netanyahu-Katz statement was an appeal to Washington to allow it to continue the killing campaign. At least 871 Palestinians have been killed since the “ceasefire” was announced on October 10, 2025, most of them civilians.
“Netanyahu is pitching this to the US administration as a necessary step to ‘disarm Hamas’ under the Trump plan,” Mustafa told Al Jazeera. “But the reality is that Israel never wanted this ceasefire. It was imposed on them.”
By systematically killing civilians, police, and military figures without offering immediate justifications for “ceasefire” breaches, Israel aims to provoke a response. “The ultimate goal is to force Hamas to retaliate, leading to the collapse of the agreement and giving Israel the green light to launch ‘Gideon 2’ – a military operation to occupy the entirety of the Gaza Strip,” Mustafa added.
With Netanyahu lacking a definitive strategic victory, such as the total surrender of Hamas, Ziad said the Israeli leadership is now leaning heavily on a “philosophy of assassinations” to project a “picture of victory” to its domestic base.
But history has shown that killings of leading military figures, such as al-Haddad, rarely have a significant long-term impact on armed Palestinian movements like Hamas.
“For the fighters and the society in Gaza, these killings create a blood covenant,” Ziad said. “It hardens their resolve. Retreating after the loss of leaders like Deif, Sinwar, or Haddad is viewed as a betrayal of that blood.”
Did I watch the Netflix MMA event on Saturday night? Not all of it. I did tune in for the three main event fights and I’ll get to that in a minute. I was more impressed with how Megan Fox handled turning 40.
So, I’m going to get this week’s Sunday Screencaps started with that. Megan didn’t even hint at a mid-life crisis. She didn’t go big Hollywood on her millions of followers either.
She handled turning the big 4-0 like any normal person would, with a few scantily clad pictures with what appears to be a lit match in her mouth at times. That’s right, a birthday shoot of her playing with fire.

Actress Megan Fox arrives at the 2021 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Sept. 13, 2021. The event was hosted by Billie Eilish, Timothee Chalamet, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka, all under 25. The theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” (Angela Weiss/AFP)
Say what you want, but even after all these years, Megan Fox is still just like the rest of us. That’s impressive. She’s somehow managed to keep herself grounded. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a message to pass along. Of course, she does.
She wrote in the caption of her very special birthday photo shoot, which isn’t embeddable and can be seen here, “i desire the things which will destroy me in the end.”
Pause right here for a second. Take a moment. For those who haven’t already done so, grab something to write with and jot that down. We don’t get many birthday messages as profound as that one. Happy 40th, Megan.
ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON’T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!
Now that we’ve properly recognized Megan Fox’s birthday, we can get to the three main events Netflix put together on Saturday night with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. I know you’ll be shocked to hear this, but it was a ton of hype and fights that failed to live up to that hype.
It started with Frances Ngannou stepping back into the cage for an MMA fight, something he hadn’t done since 2024. That was the hype surrounding this fight, because he was fighting a tomato can. Granted, I’m what you might consider a casual MMA fan, but I’ve never heard of Philipe Lins.
The fight went as most expected it would. Ngannou ate a couple of shots before knocking the tomato can out cold. That’s what he does. Don’t get me wrong, everyone loves a good knockout.
Next up was the Mike Perry and Nate Diaz fight. If you’ve ever seen Diaz fight you know he can eat an insane amount of punches and still move forward. He’s a zombie.
This fight, like the Ngannou one, didn’t go the distance and it didn’t deliver. Perry turned Diaz, first into a zombie, then a punching bag. The fight was stopped after a couple of rounds due to cuts to the punching bag.
The mumbling back and forth in the cage after the fight was the true highlight of the fight.
Then there was the “historic” disappointment, I mean matchup, to end the night. Finally, after all these years, Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano were going to fight.
Technically, that took place on Saturday night at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. There were more hugs after the fight between the two than punches landed, and, in total, far more time clocked during those hugs than the fight itself.
Carano lasted one second for every year since her last fight. Rousey took her down, got on top, landed a few punches and submitted Carano with an armbar. All of that took a total of 17 seconds.
All in all, it was probably a pretty big night for Netflix. Maybe next time they can, at the very least, get Ngannou an actual opponent.

So I misread the SDSU baseball press release last week! The Mountain West continued play this weekend (the Aztecs clinched a berth in the MWC conference postseason tournament by beating San Jose State Friday night), but still has one more week to go.
Point Loma Nazarene – home of the most scenic ballpark in America! – swept their conference tourney – in a few hours we’ll learn if they’re hosting the Division II regionals again this year as they did a few years ago on their run to the Div. II CWS in Cary, N.C. Up in North County, Cal State San Marcos lost in their conference championship game. We’ll also find out if they get an invite to the Div. II playoffs this evening.
UCSD also has yet another weekend left – against the always tough Cal State Fullerton.
So college baseball in San Diego had a pretty good season overall.
But we’re spoiled here, because within a three-hour drive, we have everything from nationally ranked UCLA, powerhouse USC, and competitive Div. Businessman Yasser Abbas, 64, secured a place on the central committee despite spending most of his time in Canada.
Published On 17 May 2026
The son of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has secured a seat on Fatah’s highest leadership body, as initial results emerged from the movement’s first Congress in the occupied West Bank in a decade.
The three-day Eighth General Conference in Ramallah, which began on Thursday and finished on Sunday, came as Fatah faces existential challenges following Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
Yasser Abbas, 64, a businessman who spends most of his time in Canada, joins the central committee after being appointed around five years ago as his father’s “special representative”.
With several existing members retaining their seats, the Congress’s outcome was already being criticised.
Marwan Barghouti, a popular Palestinian leader held in Israeli prison since 2002, retained his seat on the committee with the highest number of votes, according to figures seen by the AFP news agency.
Jibril Rajoub was re-elected as the committee’s secretary-general, while Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh retained his position.
The Congress had 2,507 voters and a turnout of 94.6 percent, organisers said.
Fifty-nine candidates competed for 18 seats on the central committee, while 450 vied for 80 seats on the revolutionary council, the party’s parliament.
Counting for the revolutionary council is continuing.
Mahmoud Abbas, who was re-elected as head of the movement on Thursday, vowed in his opening address to reform the Palestinian Authority (PA), and hold long-delayed presidential and parliamentary elections.
Abbas and the PA are under mounting international pressure to implement reforms and hold elections, amid widespread accusations of corruption and political stagnation, which have eroded their legitimacy among Palestinians.
US President Donald Trump has demanded sweeping reforms as a condition for the PA to play any meaningful role in post-war Gaza.
Fatah was historically the dominant force within the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), the sole representative of the Palestinian people in international forums. It groups most Palestinian factions, but excludes Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
In recent decades, Fatah’s popularity and influence have dwindled amid internal divisions and growing public frustration over the stagnation of the Israel-Palestine peace process.
This led to a surge in support for rival Hamas, which won the 2006 legislative elections in the occupied West Bank, before expelling Fatah from Gaza almost entirely after factional fighting.
Fatah’s central committee is expected to play a decisive role in the post-Abbas era, with key figures, including Rajoub and Sheikh already jostling to succeed the 90-year-old leader.
Yasser Abbas’s election to the committee alone does not put him on a clear path to the presidency, said Ali Jarbawi, political science professor at Birzeit University.
“This may be seen as the beginning of a phase – if not of hereditary succession, then of securing a position in the future,” he said.
Jarbawi said the elder Abbas remained firmly in command, with the Congress failing to clarify who would lead the movement after him.

Dr. Mehmet Oz says federal officials have suspended 800 hospice and home health providers in California after uncovering what the Trump administration describes as a massive Medicare fraud scheme tied to foreign-linked criminal networks that allegedly siphoned more than $1 billion from taxpayers.
“These bad people — if they’re willing to steal your money, they will happily steal your health,” Oz told “My View with Lara Trump.”
“They will throw your life in the gutter, and we’ve witnessed it,” he said.
Oz currently serves as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator under HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy, Jr., and President Donald Trump.

Oz described the alleged perpetrators as “weaponized, professional hoodlums” exploiting weaknesses in the nation’s healthcare system, warning that fraudulent providers are endangering vulnerable patients while draining taxpayer-funded programs.
Oz singled out Los Angeles as a major hotspot, claiming the city alone accounts for nearly one-third of all hospice providers nationwide, a concentration he called “not rational.”
“We’re shutting down, we believe, half of them because we don’t think they’re legitimately helping people…” he said.

“The massive system we have built to provide appropriate healthcare services in America is being defrauded at levels that no one thought imaginable,” he added.
“If we could take out the fraud, waste and abuse, we would double the life expectancy of the Medicare Trust Fund. It would be there twice as long for you as it will be now… just by taking the fraud out, not increasing your taxes, not throwing money at it from the government… but actually stopping bad people from corrupting the system,” he said.
Oz said the administration has also deferred more than one billion dollars in federal payments for the last quarter of audits, as scrutiny surrounding the alleged widespread abuse intensifies.

He also noted concerns from other U.S. states, including New York, Maine and Florida, but emphasized the willingness of the DeSantis administration to help root out the problem in Florida.
Authorities say radiation levels remain normal, operations not affected.
Published On 17 May 2026
A drone strike has sparked a fire at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), raising new concerns over a potential new regional escalation amid a fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
Authorities in Abu Dhabi said the blaze broke out at an electrical generator outside the plant’s inner perimeter in the Al Dhafra region on Sunday. No injuries were reported, and officials said radiation levels remained normal.
The UAE’s nuclear regulator said operations at the facility – the first nuclear power station on the Arabian Peninsula – were not affected. “All units are operating as normal,” it said in a social media post.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, and the UAE has not publicly blamed any country.
In a statement later on Sunday, the UAE’s Defense Ministry said air defences had dealt “successfully” with two drones, while a third one hit a generator near the plant.
It added the drones were launched from the “western border”, without providing details, and said investigations were under way to determine the source of the attack.
The UAE has faced repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks after the US and Israel began attacking Iran on February 28.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said the incident forced one reactor to rely temporarily on emergency diesel generators.
IAEA chief Rafael Grossi expressed “grave concern” and warned that military activity threatening nuclear facilities was “unacceptable”.
The plant is located close to the border with Saudi Arabia, some 225km (140 miles) west of the UAE’s capital city, Abu Dhabi.
Despite a ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran announced on April 8, drone attacks targeting the UAE have continued. Last week, Emirati officials accused Iran of launching missiles and drones at the port city of Fujairah. Three Indian nationals were injured, and a fire broke out at an oil facility in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone.
Iran had previously warned that countries hosting US military bases or Israeli-linked interests could become targets.
Iran recently accused the UAE of strengthening ties with Israel, while reports emerged claiming that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a “secret” visit to the Gulf state during the conflict. The UAE denied it.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee also said last week that Israel had deployed Iron Dome air defence systems and personnel to the UAE to help defend against possible Iranian attacks.
In a statement on Friday, the UAE’s Foreign Ministry rejected what it described as Iranian attempts to justify attacks on Emirati territory, saying it reserved the right to respond to any threats.
