Rapper Afroman is celebrating a major legal victory after an Ohio jury ruled that his songs and music videos mocking a police raid on his home are protected by the First Amendment.

Appearing on “Jesse Watters Primetime” following the verdict, the rapper wore an American flag suit to deliver a message to the country.

“I didn’t cry. I took it like a sport. I wrote songs, and I put out an album, and that album was designed to pay for the damages that they did,” Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, said Friday.

The legal battle began in 2022 when officers raided the Grammy-nominated rapper’s Ohio home on suspicion of drug trafficking and kidnapping. Authorities found no evidence of a crime, and the “Because I Got High” rapper used home security footage of the incident to produce his album “Lemon Pound Cake.”

“That was my way of walking away from it, cracking a little joke, investing in it, in some music, and hoping I raised enough money to pay the damage,” he said, referring to the damage officers did to his property.

His music videos garnered millions of views on YouTube and directly referred to the raid in the lyrics, videos and titles of songs like “Will You Help Me Repair My Door?”

The seven sheriff’s deputies who sued Afroman were collectively seeking nearly $4 million in damages for defamation, arguing they’d been harassed over the videos.

One officer was shown in home surveillance footage looking at a cake inside Afroman’s home during the raid, which inspired the album’s name.

The jury ruled in favor of Afroman, supporting the principle that creative work is protected by free speech. The artist said he was “surprised” by how significant the case became for the country and the First Amendment.

“It was a big deal in my life, but I didn’t know it was a big deal to the world,” he said.

‘If Pakistan is attacked, we will attack Mumbai-Delhi…’, former High Commissioner of PAK shouts to India

0

Pakistan does not leave any opportunity to spew venom against India. In the midst of the war raging in Western Asia, former High Commissioner of Pakistan Abdul Basit has made a strong complaint about India. Referring to a hypothetical situation, he said that if America attacks Pakistan then Islamabad should target India.

Basit’s provocative statement

Basit said, ‘Imagine if America attacks Pakistan, then Pakistan should drop bombs on cities like India’s capital Delhi and Mumbai.’ His provocative statement came at a time when it has been three weeks since the war broke out between America, Israel and Iran and there are concerns about security even at the regional level. The conflict with the neighboring country also continues with Afghanistan.

His argument was that even if Pakistan was out of reach of its direct targets, it should ‘never give up’ its intention to target Indian metros. This argument indicates how dirty Pakistan has a mentality towards India. By taking the names of Mumbai and New Delhi, Basit is not only reliving the pain of terrorist attacks like 26/11, but is also telling the world that India is the only way to resolve Pakistan’s military frustrations.

Poison spewed in TV debate

Abdul Basit said in a TV debate with ABN News, ‘Suppose, the situation in Iran gets worse. Israel comes and sits in our neighbourhood. Such a situation arises where America also looks at our nuclear program with a bad eye, or tries to destroy our nuclear capability, which is impossible.

He further said, ‘But, I am talking about the worst situation, which is impossible, because Pakistan has enough capacity to defend itself, but, if such a situation arises that if America attacks Pakistan… America is not in our nuclear range, we cannot even reach their bases in the regional areas or we cannot even attack Israel, then what will be the way for us.’

‘We have to attack India’

Basit again made a strange statement. He said, ‘We have seen, nothing else should be done. Even if our range does not reach America and someone casts an evil eye on us, we will have to attack India without thinking. Tax has to be paid on Mumbai, tax has to be paid on New Delhi. We don’t have to leave. Whatever happens later remains to be seen. We will have no other option if America attacks us, which is impossible. So the world should know that if someone casts a blind eye on us, we will not step back without giving a reply. Concluding his speech, he said that although India would not want this nor do we want such a situation. We would like them not to look at us with dirty eyes.

Who is Abdul Basit?

Abdul Basit has been the former High Commissioner of Pakistan, he was also the High Commissioner of India for three years. Apart from India, he has held senior positions in Pakistani embassies in many countries. He had also been Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany from 2012 to 2014. His tenure in India started from 2014, after which he stayed here for three years. His poisonous words came to light when he himself had worked in these cities.

Northern Lights: Spectacular views across the world forecast to return | UK News

0

Parts of the UK enjoyed breathtaking views of the Northern Lights overnight – and more is forecast for Saturday.

The natural light show, known as the aurora borealis, is one of nature’s “most spectacular displays”, according to the Met Office.

Pictures from Friday night featured waves of mostly green and purple light at Bamburgh in Northumberland in the UK, as well as in Estonia and Canada, while social media users posted images taken elsewhere, including Russia.

While the Northern Lights are mostly visible near the Arctic Circle and northern Scotland, the Met Office said “pale green and pink to vibrant reds, blues, and violets can sometimes light up the night sky, especially in the north of the UK”.

The Met Office said on Thursday there was a chance of seeing the northern lights “over the next couple of nights”, predicting sightings being “most likely across Scotland where skies are clear but perhaps into northern England too”.

What causes the Northern Lights?

The shimmering spectacle occurs when energy and charged particles released from the sun through coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and solar flares travel towards Earth on the solar wind and collide with the Earth’s magnetic field and upper atmosphere, interacting with gases to create spectacular displays of blue, purple, green, pink and red.

If the solar activity is strong enough, it will cause a geomagnetic storm.

In January, the Met Office said the solar maximum was “all but confirmed to have taken place in 2024 and 2025”, meaning solar activity on the surface of the sun “appears to be in a declining phase”.

But it said this phase “can be a period which can often bring strong events, as evidenced by last week’s aurora visibility as far south as northern Italy”.

Will we see them again soon?

Several things need to occur for the skies over the UK to dazzle again.

Any solar eruptions that do occur need to be aimed at Earth and cause a strong geomagnetic storm.

It also needs to be dark enough, with settled weather allowing clear skies to see the aurora.

What’s the best way to capture them?

While the Northern Lights are visible to the naked eye, the colours often appear faint and muted compared with those captured by camera.

To take better pictures of the aerial phenomena, Adobe recommends using manual camera settings and a wide aperture on a camera.

It suggests using low shutter speeds, up to 20 seconds, as well as setting the camera’s ISO value all the way to 2,000 or higher – such settings are usually available in smartphones’ camera settings.

Chancellor warns elite schools prioritizing politics over education

Vanderbilt University Chancellor Daniel Diermeier warned this week that America’s elite universities are in trouble if they continue to prioritize political activism over their mission of spreading knowledge.

Diermeier joined the Washington Post’s “Reasonably Optimistic” podcast Wednesday to discuss the future of higher education and its role in culture wars. He stated that universities have become increasingly politicized, blaming that “mission drift” for the decrease of public trust in those institutions.

“The fundamental purpose of university is to be a place where you have path-breaking research and a transformative education.”

“The fundamental purpose of university is to be a place where you have path-breaking research and a transformative education,” Diermeier said.

“You’re not a political party, and you’re not part of a political movement,” he added.

WHY ELITE COLLEGES FEAR TRUMP AND MCMAHON’S NEW ACADEMIC COMPACT TYING FUNDING TO FREE SPEECH

Diermeier specifically blasted the use of “political litmus tests” in hiring faculty and staff at top schools.

He also criticized sorting incoming students into identity categories during orientation, saying it can lead to students being “socially ostracized” for challenging conventional wisdom.

“When departments can’t hire people or refuse to hire people based on their scholarly accomplishments, but when there’s a political litmus test, you need to take action as a dean or president,” Diermeier said.

He argued it’s not all faculty on campuses stoking political fires, but often a “small but well-motivated and organized minority.” Diermeier noted that many faculty members want to work rather than engage in political battles.

“Once you enter the political battle, you’re in the political battle, and that’s where we are right now,” he warned.

In recent years, universities have been at the center of cultural controversies, including protests over the Israel-Hamas war and the Black Lives Matter movement.

In March 2024, several students were arrested or suspended for their actions during a protest at Vanderbilt over the war in Gaza.

The pressure is also coming from Washington. A House Committee on Education and the Workforce released a report Tuesday, which found some higher education faculty members “amplifying antisemitism.”

Last year, the Trump administration’s Department of Education announced that at least 60 universities were under investigation for antisemitism and harassment, including Ivy League schools.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has come out in support of Mamata Banerjee regarding the 2026 Bengal elections. Responding, he expressed hope about Mamata Banerjee’s victory. The SP chief said that even if Mamata Banerjee fights alone, she will win.

A single person will fight, win and grow – Akhilesh Yadav

Former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav wrote on the social media platform, “A single person will fight, win and grow.” The SP chief has also shared a photo in this post, in which there is a picture of Mamata Banerjee and her supporters, in which she is taking out a protest march raising the issue of shortage of LPG cylinders and talking about boycotting BJP.

War should never happen – Akhilesh Yadav

Amidst the increasing tension and war-like situation in the Middle East, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday (21 March) made a sharp attack on the foreign policy of the Modi government. Speaking to the media in Lucknow, he said, “Socialist ideology has always been against war and is in favor of peace. On the very first day I had said that the people of Samajwadi Party and those who believe in socialist ideology are never in favor of war. War should never happen. As a country, India missed an opportunity to become a global leader.

BJP people only want to spread hatred- Akhilesh Yadav

He further said, “If India had taken a strong stand, the war could have been avoided.” The Indian government did not make its stand clear in the Iran-Israel-America conflict, which affected the country’s image. BJP people don’t know anything. They just want to spread hatred and take political advantage of every situation. Due to the war, the economy is being affected, inflation is increasing and the foreign policy has proved to be a complete failure.

Farsa Wale Baba Died: How did Farsa Wale Baba die in Mathura? Police solved the mystery, supporters created ruckus

The death of cow protector Baba Chandrashekhar, famously known as ‘Farsa Wale Baba’, near the Haryana border on Saturday (21st March) at around 4 am in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh created a sensation. The supporters claimed that cow smugglers had run over them and blocked the highway. The mob pelted stones at vehicles and policemen passing through the highway, due to which the glass panes of many vehicles were broken. There was a huge jam on the highway. After which a large number of police forces reached the spot and started trying to control the situation.

To control the violent crowd, the police first used mild force and then also fired tear gas shells. This uproar happened at a time when President Draupadi Murmu During the day, he prayed at the Danghati temple of Govardhan, where he participated in the aarti of Giriraj Ji Maharaj and did Govardhan parikrama.

Farsa Wale Baba Died: How did Farsa Wale Baba die in Mathura? Police solved the mystery, supporters created ruckus

Supporters of ‘Farsa Wale Baba’ claim that Baba was trying to stop a truck loaded with cattle near Nabipur in the Kotwan border area when he was crushed by cow smugglers. As soon as information about the death was received, cow servants from UP and Haryana started reaching the spot. The crowd also reached in large numbers and tension spread. After a few hours of uproar, the police rejected all the claims and said that some anti-social people in the crowd tried to spoil the atmosphere.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Taking immediate cognizance of this matter, he has given instructions for an impartial investigation. The saints also reacted sharply. Devkinandan Thakur said that in a pilgrimage place like Mathura, acts like cow smuggling and cow slaughter are shameful. If the cow protectors came to know about it, then why doesn’t the police come to know about it? Is it a conspiracy or an accident? The government should conduct an honest and impartial investigation.

At the same time, Swami Vishnu Das said that the way cow smugglers have committed the murder of Mathura’s cow vigilante Chandrashekhar by crushing his car, such people should be hanged at intersections.

How did Baba die?
According to news agency PTI, District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said that Farsa Wale Baba was stopping and investigating a container with Nagaland number along with his disciples at 4 am on Saturday at Haryana Border Police Station area Kosikalan on the information of presence of cow in the vehicle. That container was filled with soap, phenyl, shampoo etc. and during this time, due to dense fog, a truck with Rajasthan number hit the container from behind, due to which Baba died on the spot. He told that the truck driver was injured in this accident.

According to Mathura SSP Shlok Kumar, Farsa Baba had received information about cow smugglers during the night. Had set out to chase this. He said, “A vehicle was stopped on the basis of suspicion by Chandrashekhar alias Farsa Baba in Kosi police station area last night between 03:00-04:00 AM. During this time, due to dense fog, he unfortunately died after being hit by a truck coming from behind. The container which Baba had stopped was found to contain groceries and the truck coming from behind was found to be loaded with wires. This is a road accident, it has nothing to do with cow smuggling.

Along with this, Mathura Police has warned that “the news circulating on social media related to cow slaughter or cow progeny smuggling is completely misleading and untrue.” On the basis of the complaint received, a case of accident is being registered at Kosikalan police station. Mathura Police appeals to the public not to spread any factless rumor on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, otherwise strict legal action will be taken against those spreading misleading information.

The SSP said that the situation has been controlled by using necessary force against those creating law and order situation. Advance legal action is being taken.

funeral completed
After the crowd got assurance of appropriate action from the administration, the last rites of Farsa Wale Baba were performed at his ashram in Barsana, Mathura. However, there is still dissatisfaction among his followers. The police are demanding a fair investigation.

Farsawale Baba used to do cow service in this ashram, whichever cow got injured or fell ill, he used to bring them and serve them. People say that last night also he had received information about cow smuggling, after which he left and died.

On the Mathura incident, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that people of BJP do not know anything, they only want to spread hatred and take political advantage of every situation. This government takes political work from the police and administration. That is why the administration and police are not looking after law and order and administration.

Arab states should beware of Israel’s hegemonic energy expansion | Energy

0

At the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran, reports emerged that Jordan and Egypt have cut off gas supplies to Syria. These reports appeared as minor details amid the shock of the latest episode of US-Israeli aggression in the Middle East – part of an ongoing effort to reshape the region.

Yet such seemingly inconsequential reports conceal the longer-term, nonmilitary processes through which that reshaping is materially enacted. What was made clear by this news was that Israel has a growing energy control over the region – one that could help propel its colonialist agenda.

Where does the gas come from?

In January, Egypt began supplying 2.8 million cubic metres (98.9 million cubic feet) of gas per day to Syria through the Arab Gas Pipeline, which runs from Egypt’s El Arish through Taba to Jordan’s Aqaba and then north to Amman, then Syria’s Damascus and Homs and from there to Lebanon’s Tripoli. A memorandum of understanding was also signed with Lebanon for the import of gas from Egypt, but according to reports, the gas has not yet started flowing due to technical challenges.

Also in January, Jordan’s state-owned National Electric Power Company signed a deal with the Syrian Petroleum Company for the supply of 4 million cubic metres (141.2 million cubic feet) of gas daily.

From the moment news of the agreements surfaced, a central question emerged: where would Egypt and Jordan obtain gas for export?

Egypt is a gas producer, but its local production has declined over the past years, hitting a six-year low of 49.3 billion cubic metres (1.7 trillion cubic feet) in 2024. The same year, its imports reached a record high of 14.6bcm (515.6 billion cubic feet), of which about 10bcm (353 billion cubic feet) came from Israel. Last year, Cairo signed a $35bn deal to import Israeli gas from Israel until 2040, boosting its previous supplies by another 2bcm (70.6 billion cubic feet) per year.

Although Egypt is a gas importer, it still exports gas. However, reports on what gas it is selling to Syria are conflicting. Some say it is of Israeli origin, while others claim it comes from liquified gas intended for Egypt, received in the Jordanian port of Aqaba, where it is regasified and pumped north through the Arab Gas Pipeline.

Unlike Egypt, Jordan is not a major gas-producing country. Local production accounts for less than 5 percent of gas (PDF) needs. It imports the rest, about 3.6bcm (127 billion cubic feet) per year, mostly from Israel, but also Egypt and some LNG sources.

When questions arose regarding the source of Jordanian gas sales to Syria, a Syrian official responded that the imported gas was “not of Jordanian origin”, but was rather liquefied natural gas bought from global markets and regasified at Aqaba.

A regional gas energy system centred on Israel

The Arab Gas Pipeline—once a symbol of joint Arab development projects—has become the primary conduit for exporting Israeli gas to both Jordan and Egypt. Pipelines carrying gas from the Leviathan field off the coast of Haifa connect to the pipeline network in northern Jordan’s Mafraq governorate, from which gas flows southward towards the Egyptian border.

Any independent LNG shipment arriving by tanker at the Aqaba terminal must enter the Arab Gas Pipeline system, where it inevitably mixes with Israeli gas already flowing through the network. Once inside the system, it becomes part of a shared “gas blend” distributed among the interconnected states. Crucially, Israeli gas constitutes the backbone of the long-term supply through the pipeline.

As a result, LNG shipments are likely handled through a regional clearing mechanism. Gas imported as LNG through Aqaba, for instance, may be routed to Egypt – the nearest point in the network – while an equivalent quantity of Israeli gas entering the system in northern Jordan is redirected towards Syria. This arrangement avoids the logistical and financial costs associated with reversing pipeline flows or transporting gas across long distances.

When Israeli gas stops, the entire network stops

When Israel shut down gas production in the Leviathan field, gas flows to Jordan and Egypt immediately stopped, plunging both countries into crisis and forcing them to activate emergency plans to confront the sudden shortage.

This was the second such disruption in less than a year. The same field had been shut down for 13 days the previous June during the 12-day Israeli attack on Iran, again cutting supplies to Jordan and Egypt.

When it happened this time, Amman announced reductions – and partial suspension – of the gas it had been supplying to Syria. Cairo was also forced to suspend exports to Syria.

The material reality, therefore, appears to contradict official narratives: the gas reaching Syria and, in the future, Lebanon, is, in practical terms, Israeli gas.

Even when Israel is not the immediate supplier in a given transaction, the system itself depends structurally on Israeli gas. Once Israeli exports stop, the entire network falters.

Jordan’s own emergency plan following the interruption of Israeli gas involves importing LNG through Aqaba from global markets. The option clearly exists even under the current conditions. If that route remains available, why were supplies to Syria reduced or halted?

Whatever the explanation, the facts confirm that Israel sits at the heart of the emerging regional gas system. This centrality grants it considerable political leverage. Energy supply has already been deployed as a political instrument — for example, in threats to reconsider gas agreements with Egypt under the pretext of alleged peace treaty violations.

More starkly, Israel has demonstrated its willingness to weaponise essential infrastructure and utilities. During the genocide in Gaza, electricity, energy and water – along with the infrastructure that sustains them – were systematically targeted and cut off, deployed as instruments of collective punishment and destruction.

The cage of dependency

Lebanon and Syria desperately need electricity. That urgency is being used to justify integration into a regional energy network centred on Israel. Under such conditions, questions regarding the origin of gas are likely to be set aside, and Israel’s structural centrality to the regional energy order quietly ignored.

The result would be a system that places both countries – along with Egypt and Jordan – within an infrastructure where supply disruptions remain possible at any moment and where the decisive lever ultimately lies in Israeli hands.

This is a clear example of how the Zionist settler-colonial project is expanding not only through military aggression but also through economic power and energy networks.

It advances through an infrastructure that appears mundane and technical, yet ultimately grips societies by the throat. Once embedded, disengaging from such systems becomes extraordinarily difficult, because they govern the essentials of everyday life: electricity, water and energy.

Syria and Lebanon do have an alternative – developing their own energy reserves. Syrian onshore gas reserves amount to 280bcm (9,888 trillion cubic feet) and offshore – possibly 250bcm (8,829 trillion cubic feet); Lebanon could have as much as 700bcm (24,720 trillion cubic feet) in offshore reserves. Developing these energy resources would take not just time and substantial financing, but also strong political will to resist political pressure, especially from Israel and the US, to opt for dependency on Israeli gas.

Today, Syrian and Lebanese political leaders may be lured by the promise of quick and easy economic security and reliable living conditions. But such security would be illusory. Ultimate control would rest in the hands of a state whose capacity to cut supply – and to use that interruption as a tool of destruction, political coercion and colonial expansion – is already visible for all to see.

Bill Maher defends Trump’s Pearl Harbor joke to Japanese prime minister

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

“Real Time” host Bill Maher wasn’t bothered by President Donald Trump’s controversial joke to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, saying while it was not entirely appropriate, it was funny.

“[Trump] was in the Oval Office yesterday with the prime minister of Japan, Takaichi. And he was talking about our strike in Iran, and he said, ‘We didn’t tell anybody because we wanted it to be a surprise. Who knows better about a surprise attack than Japan?’” Maher said during Friday’s episode of his HBO show.

“Is it right to say that? No, but if Shane Gillis said it, you’d laugh.”

While meeting with Japan’s PM Takaichi at the White House on Thursday, a reporter asked Trump why the U.S. did not inform its allies of planned strikes on Iran.

In response, the president used Japan’s 1941 surprise attack on Pearl Harbor to help justify the administration’s decision-making while sitting beside the leader of the nation responsible for the historic assault.

“We didn’t tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise. Who knows better about surprise than Japan?” the president said with Takaichi sitting beside him. “Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor? Right?”

Over 2,000 U.S. military personnel were killed in the Japanese bombing on a U.S. Naval station in Pearl Harbor in 1941, which prompted the U.S. to enter World War II.

Maher went on to criticize Trump’s handling of conflict in Iran, pointing to falling stock markets, rising gas prices and increased federal spending demands tied to the war.

“The Pentagon said this week they need $200 billion to fight this war. What happened to the trillion we give them every year?” Maher asked. “What’s that, just couch money?”

“A month ago, gas prices, the average in America was $2.93. Here it is a month later, and it’s almost exactly a dollar higher, almost $3.93. Trump said today that would never happen if I was president… He said to an aide today ‘Check the lawn, see if Elon left any of those Teslas.’”
