Musician Tom Morello faced a backlash from conservatives after he played to the crowd Tuesday at the Hands off NYC protest at the Federal Plaza in Manhattan.

The guitarist, who is known for Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, sang Woodie Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land,” along with the lines that said: “In the squares of the city, in the shadow of the steeple, near the relief office, I see my people. Some are crumbling and all are wondering if this land’s still made for you and me.”

A cheering crowd who held signs that said “Hands off NYC” and “ICE is illegal” sang along with the 61-year-old.

“My mother and I lived at 142nd and Riverside a long time ago,” Morello told the crowd, according to Rolling Stone. “Brothers and sisters, if I’ve learned one thing in all my years since then, it’s that if it looks like fascism, sounds like fascism, dresses like fascism, talks like fascism, kills like fascism, and lies like fascism — brothers and sisters, it’s f—ing fascism.”

Authorities on May 5 arrested a 17-year-old male accused of murdering a 61-year-old woman who was found dead on April 21.

Local outlet Las Vegas Review-Journal identified the suspect as Dennis Geiggar, a high school student with a reported history of behavioral issues and anger-related incidents.

He is accused of killing 61-year-old Marceline Biasini, who the Review-Journal reported regularly slept in the area where she was found dead.

The victim was found lying on the sidewalk outside a business and “suffering from apparent injuries” just after 8 a.m. on April 21, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) told Fox News Digital.

Nearby surveillance video captured a brief, suspicious encounter in the middle of the night, showing a suspect approaching the victim’s area and leaving about a minute later, the Review-Journal reported, citing police records.

While the footage did not capture the killing itself, it reportedly recorded what appeared to be a loud scream followed by approximately 61 loud impact sounds.

“The precise location of the crime scene was obstructed from surveillance cameras, but video surveillance with audio … captured the suspect approaching Marceline’s location and, seconds later, a scream is heard followed by approximately 61 loud thuds,” the Review-Journal report said.

Detectives determined the woman had been “battered at some point during the night,” according to a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

The Clark County coroner’s office ruled Biasini’s death a homicide, citing blunt head trauma, according to the Review-Journal.

Geiggar reportedly has a history of anger issues and troubled behavior.

He was expelled from Valley High School in January after allegedly attempting to start a fire on campus, the Review-Journal said, adding that he has since been attending school online.

Police also said Geiggar had “numerous incidents where his anger had resulted in his punching walls and trash cans” and had been participating in anger management classes, according to the outlet.

According to police reports, surveillance video from a nearby 7-Eleven showed a suspect wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and Vans shoes, clothing Geiggar was reportedly seen wearing while attending Valley High School.

In addition, detectives reportedly found bloody footwear impressions at the crime scene.

Tests on Geiggar’s Vans shoes came back presumptively positive for blood, though DNA comparison has not yet been completed, the outlet said.

Police added that Geiggar’s physical description matched that of the suspect.

Documents state Geiggar has denied the accusations, though he acknowledged visiting a 7-Eleven nearby around 1–2 a.m. with his older brother, the Review-Journal reported.

Video from that store reportedly did not show him inside at that time.

Geiggar has denied the accusations, according to documents cited by the Review-Journal. It was not immediately clear whether he had retained an attorney who could comment on his behalf. He has not been convicted in connection with Biasini’s death, and the case remains pending.

Geiggar has been taken into custody on one felony count of open murder, a charge alleging homicide without specifying the degree of the offense.

Two days after the Prime Minister’s appeal to postpone buying of gold for a year, the Finance Ministry late on Wednesday raised the import duty on gold and silver to 15 per cent. This is an effort to curb imports and ease pressure on the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

According to a notification, there will be a 10 per cent basic customs duty and a 5 per cent Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) on gold and silver imports, taking the effective duty to 15 per cent.

PM had urged citizens to avoid gold purchases

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to avoid gold purchases for a year to help protect foreign exchange reserves. India meets almost all of its gold consumption through imports.

Gold demand in India, especially for investment, has risen amid a recent rally in prices. Equities have given negative returns over the past year. Inflows into India’s gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) surged 186% year-on-year in the March quarter to a record 20 metric tons, the World Gold Council said last month.

Government steps up efforts to curb imports

The government has been trying to curb gold imports in recent weeks and began levying a 3 per cent integrated goods and services tax (IGST) on gold and silver imports, prompting banks to halt imports for more than a month. As a result, April imports fell to a near 30-year low. Banks have since resumed imports after paying the 3% IGST, but imports are now likely to fall again following the increase in import duties.

Doozy of a Patch Tuesday includes 30 critical Microsoft CVEs

0

Security

The good news: no 0-days. The bad news: busy week ahead for Microsoft admins

Microsoft released fixes for 137 CVEs on Tuesday, none of which are known to have been targeted by attackers. But the news is not all good as Redmond rated a whopping 30 flaws as critical, with 14 earning a 9.0 or higher CVSS severity rating, including one perfect 10.

Plus, everyone who celebrates the monthly patchapalooza event received validation for what we all widely suspected last month: Yes, Redmond (and everyone else, for that matter) is using AI to find a ton more bugs than ever before. And that means a lot more work for all the folks applying and testing the patches.

“This month’s release sits on the larger side of a hotpatch month, and we expect releases to continue trending larger for some time,” Tom Gallagher, VP of engineering at Microsoft Security Response Center, said in a note on this month’s Patch Tuesday.

Microsoft also said its secret-until-now AI bug hunting system, codenamed MDASH, found 16 of the vulnerabilities addressed in this month’s release. Redmond additionally announced it is making the tool available to a limited number of customers in private preview, along the lines of Anthropic’s Mythos and Project Glasswing.

In other words: no break for Microsoft admins this May Patch Tuesday.

Let’s take a look at some of the nastiest/most-interesting bugs that also received some of the highest-CVSS ratings this month, coming in hot at 9.8 and 9.9.

First up: CVE-2026-41096. This one is a critical, 9.8-rated Windows DNS Client remote code execution (RCE), and while Redmond says exploitation is “unlikely,” we’d suggest patching it ASAP. It’s due to a heap-based buffer overflow, and no authentication or user interaction is needed to exploit it (it’s done by sending a specially crafted DNS response to a vulnerable system), potentially leading to memory corruption and RCE.

“Since the DNS Client runs on virtually every Windows machine, the attack surface is enormous,” Zero Day Initiative bug hunting boss Dustin Childs warned. “An attacker with a position to influence DNS responses (MitM, rogue server) could achieve unauthenticated RCE across your enterprise.”

Plus, it could happen across a ton of enterprise systems very rapidly, Jack Bicer, Action1 vulnerability research director told The Register. “This CVE requires immediate attention,” he said. “Successful attacks may lead to widespread endpoint compromise, ransomware deployment, credential harvesting, and operational disruption across corporate networks.”

Another especially bad bug, CVE-2026-42898 in Microsoft Dynamics 365 on-premises systems, achieved a near-perfect 9.9 CVSS rating and also leads to RCE. Any authenticated user can trigger this vuln – it doesn’t require admin or other elevated privileges.

As Redmond explains: “An attacker with the required permissions could modify the saved state of a process session in Dynamics CRM and trigger the system to process that data, which could result in the server unintentionally executing malicious code.”

Since exploitation could lead to a scope change, meaning the bug can affect systems beyond the vulnerable component, it’s a pretty serious risk to enterprises and should be prioritized. “Scope changes are pretty rare, so if you’re running Dynamics 365 On-Prem, definitely test and deploy this patch quickly,” Childs said.

The second of two 9.8-rated bugs is CVE-2026-41089. It’s a stack-based buffer overflow in Windows Netlogon that allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute code on vulnerable machines by sending a specially crafted network request to a Windows server acting as a domain controller. As Childs points out: the fact attackers can exploit this flaw without credentials or user interactions makes it wormable “This is the highest-impact bug that requires immediate patching: a compromised domain controller is a compromised domain,” he added.

The silver lining this month for defenders is that the single CVE earning a perfect 10.0 CVSS rating is in Azure DevOps, and doesn’t require users to fix anything.

CVE-2026-42826 is an information disclosure vulnerability in the DevOps toolchain “has already been fully mitigated by Microsoft,” according to Redmond. “There is no action for users of this service to take. The purpose of this CVE is to provide further transparency.” ®
