Trump backs Pakistan as Iran mediator after criticism from Lindsey Graham | US-Israel war on Iran News

US president lauds Islamabad, but his Republican ally says he does not trust Pakistan to facilitate Iran diplomacy.

Donald Trump has reasserted his support for Pakistan to serve as a mediator between Iran and the United States after Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of the US president, disparaged Islamabad’s diplomacy.

In remarks on Tuesday, the US president lauded Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and its army chief Asim Munir, who helped negotiate a fragile ceasefire in Iran that came into effect last month.

Trump added he is not reconsidering Pakistan as a mediator.

“They’re great. I think the Pakistanis have been great. The field marshal and the prime minister of Pakistan have been absolutely great,” Trump told reporters.

Hours earlier, Graham had pressed Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and top US general Dan Caine about a CBS News report claiming that Pakistan is allowing Iran to park military assets on its airfields, in order to shield them from potential US and Israeli attacks.

Both officials declined to comment on the veracity of the report, citing the sensitive nature of the talks between the US and Iran.

Asked by Graham whether it would be “consistent” for Pakistan to act as a fair mediator if the CBS report is confirmed, Hegseth said, “I wouldn’t want to get into the middle of these negotiations.”

The Republican senator quickly interrupted the defence secretary.

“I do. I want to get in the middle of those negotiations,” Graham said.

“I don’t trust Pakistan as far as I can throw them. If they actually have Iranian aircraft parked in Pakistan bases to protect Iranian military assets, that tells me maybe we should be looking for somebody else to mediate. No wonder this damn thing is going nowhere.”

The senator — an outspoken foreign policy hawk who has been calling for regime change in Iran — is seen as one of the most influential figures in Trump’s circle.

Graham has also been one of the most vocal supporters of the war with Iran, repeatedly cautioning Trump against agreeing to a deal that would include concessions to Tehran.

Weeks before the war broke out on February 28, Graham met the US president in Florida, where he handed Trump a hat that says, “Make Iran Great Again.”

Pakistan has been pushing to revive the stalled diplomacy between Iran and the US, following the April 8 ceasefire agreement.

On Sunday, Trump said Tehran’s latest proposal to end the war was “unacceptable”.

In late April, the US president announced he was sending his envoys to Pakistan to meet Iranian officials, but he called off the trip after Iran pushed the US to lift the naval blockade against its ports as a condition for resuming the talks.

Hilary Duff makes her SI Swim cover debut, Carrie Underwood rocks out with Mötley Crüe & defending Banana-ball

There’s something I’d like to get off my chest: I do not understand the hate for the Savannah Bananas.

Every time a new Banana-ball video starts making its way around the internet machine, all the b*tchers and moaners come out of the woodwork to complain: It’s so silly. It’s corny. It’s not real baseball!

Obviously. That’s sort of the point.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE FROM OUTKICK

That would be like getting mad at the Harlem Globetrotters for not demonstrating proper basketball fundamentals. Or attending “The Book of Mormon“on Broadway and expecting a church service.

So, naturally, when country star Riley Green sang a tune and knocked a single for the Bananas in Atlanta yesterday, all the macho men took to Twitter/X to hurl some insults and carry on about “get the dancing and singing out of my baseball!”

In fact, most of the comments I cannot repost. Because they are insinuating, in not such nice words, that everyone in the Savannah Bananas lineup is a homosexual.

Don’t be bitter just because your wife thinks Riley Green is hot.

Now, I’m not saying the Bananas are for everyone. It’s perfectly fine if you’re not into them. I, personally, have never bought tickets for a Banana-ball event. But I’m also not turning my hatred for them into a personality trait. If you have small children and are looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon, why not check out a game?

Besides, if they’re good enough for Maggie Sajak

Anyway, all I’m saying is that some of the miserable people on the internet need to learn to welcome a little joy and whimsy into their lives. There are much bigger problems in this world than grown men doing choreographed dance numbers on a baseball diamond.

And I look forward to ignoring all of those problems starting on Friday when I fly down to Florida to firmly plant my barely-clothed behind in the sand for a week.

So I regret to inform you that I will not be joining you for next week’s Tuesday Nightcaps. The good news, though, is that my pal and colleague Matt Reigle will be here, and he is one hell of a pinch hitter.

Even better than the Savannah Bananas.

So grab yourself a fruity rum drink with a little umbrella in my honor. And let’s get to it.

Hilary Duff makes her SI Swim cover debut

What a comeback year it’s been for Hilary Duff. She was a superstar 20 years ago — with a hit Disney Channel show and a music career. Then, she just sort of… went away. She had a few kids, enjoyed the private life and then came bursting back onto the scene in the last few months.

She’s got a revamped music career, she’s a muscle mommy and… officially an SI Swim cover model.

Carrie Underwood rocks the ‘American Idol’ stage with Mötley Crüe

Oh, and I learned something else recently. People still watch “American Idol.” Unbelievable, right?

Last night after work and the gym, I stopped by my local watering hole to grab a beer with a girlfriend. And when I first walked in, I thought my eyes and ears did deceive me. Surely they aren’t showing “American Idol” on all the TV screens with the sound on full blast booming through the speakers? At a bar. Surely not, right?

Well, friends, they absolutely were. Apparently a big group of people came in so excited to watch the season 24 (!!!) finale that the bartender just put it on all the TVs and cranked it on up.

A woman named Hannah Harper took home the crown. Or the record deal, or whatever it is that they win on that show. And this is, I’m told, a big deal because she’s the first female country singer to win “Idol” since Queen Carrie Underwood won season 4 in 2005. 2005!

Speaking of Carrie, the real highlight of the night was her taking the stage with Mötley Crüe.

Oh, and it turns out I’m a dumbass. The reason everyone at my local drinking establishment was so into this particular “American Idol” finale is because one of the finalists, Jordan McCullough, is from right here in Murfreesboro, Tennessee! The whole dang town — except for me — apparently got the memo to tune in and cheer him on.

Embarrassing, since I’m supposed to be on top of the news or whatever.

So please forgive me, Jordan. I had no idea you were a local hero. And congrats on your second-place finish!

Readers weigh in: do dogs belong on the bed?

Last week, Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston said they both let their dogs sleep with them in their beds. And while I certainly get it, my husband and I (very cruelly) require our 80-pound fur missile of a German Shepherd to sleep elsewhere… like on our giant comfy couch or on his expensive memory foam dog bed.

So I asked y’all: do dogs belong in the bed?

Cindy F. in KS Writes: A resounding YES! Sure there’s dog hair all over the bed, bruises from dogs climbing all over me and pushing me out of bed in the middle of the night. But there’s also the comforting feeling of a dog curled up next to me, doggie cuddles and kisses, and a companion when I’m sad or sick in bed. The love, joy and entertainment a dog gives far outweighs the extra cleaning and bruised body. Dogs are special…there’s a reason dog is God spelled backwards. ☺️

Fred H. Writes: This is Tate, my Hangin Tree dog. He’s a cow dog and like a lot of cow dogs he is totally devoted to the wife and me. Everyone else not so much. His life is going with me. I’m a rancher so there’s no job involved where he can’t go. I go outside he goes. He’s not underfoot but he’s around. I check cows, which is his favorite, he goes. I go in the house he’s coming in. You really think I’m going to tell him he can’t sleep in bed?

Nebraska Niemo Writes: First off, thanks for all you do for this community. You definitely make me smile! As the owner of three Golden Retrievers (one Red, one Tan and one English Cream…we like to think of ourselves as multi-cultural) I will absolutely not let our dogs onto the bed. Yes, we give couch cuddles. I do not have enough room for three 75 lb muscle balls with legs/nails…

Gene in the Rock Writes: Lexi topped out at 38 pounds, a little heavier than I would have liked but it’s all good, she’s still light enough that I can pick her up. She’s not a bed hog but would definitely be upset if she couldn’t sleep at our feet. The fun part is that some portion of her doggy brain thinks she needs to occupy the exact spot where I’m about to lay down, so every night I need to pick up the edge of the blanket and literally roll her out of the way like Kvapil at Kansas. Hilarious. I suppose she thinks it’s some sort of doggy carnival ride, but I’d sure hate to have to try that with an 80 pounder like Rocky!

Jon C. Writes: We currently have two Shih Tzu mixes and they sleep in the bed. They both have their blankets/spots at the foot. Until her passing a couple years ago, we also had a shepherd mix. But she had her own doggie bed by our bed. Except for whenever thunderstorms or fireworks were going off  Then it was just one big pile up in the middle of the king size bed.

Jeff M. Writes: Attached is exhibit A why our dogs aren’t allowed in bed. This is how they spend their days, and it’s a chore just to get them clean enough to walk around the house. Plus, with their diet of goat skittles, horse turds, and their favorite treat chicken poop, their gas is industrial strength toxic waste. Wouldn’t be ideal waking up to that in the middle of the night.

Man hit by Frontier Airlines jet at Denver airport died by suicide: officials

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

This story discusses suicide. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please contact the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or 800-273-TALK (8255).

Officials revealed Tuesday that the individual killed in the horrific runway strike late Friday night in Denver died by suicide after breaching multiple airport security layers.

The trespasser was identified as 41-year-old Michael Mott, who was seen on video loitering near a runway at Denver International Airport before suddenly stepping in front of a Frontier Airlines jet during its takeoff roll.

Airport officials said they were not aware that Mott had entered the restricted area after scaling an 8-foot perimeter fence topped with barbed wire. He was ultimately pulled into the aircraft’s engine, which subsequently triggered a fire.

The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt and sharp-force injuries.

According to airport representatives, ground detection sensors set off an alarm near the perimeter fence shortly after 11 p.m.

Authorities said airport operators monitoring live surveillance cameras initially did not spot any trespassers. Instead, they identified what appeared to be a herd of deer near the fence line. Ditches in the area may have also partially obstructed their view of the individual, officials added.

Despite the initial findings, airport officials were notified shortly afterward that an individual had been struck by the aircraft while crossing the runway.

“And then just minutes later, we were alerted by the FAA of the person being hit,” Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington said.

“It took approximately 15 seconds for this person, to jump over the eight-foot fence topped with barbed wire,” Washington added. “The time between climbing over the fence and being struck by the plane again was approximately two minutes.”

Officials added that Mott crossed roughly 650 feet of land to reach the runway after scaling the fence.

After the incident, investigators said the fence in the area where the breach occurred was found to be completely intact.

Officials stated they do not currently know how Mott traveled to such a remote area as investigators did not find any car, bicycle or other types of vehicles nearby.

The airport’s security system relies on 36 miles of TSA-compliant fencing, along with closed-circuit cameras, thermal imaging, ground-based radar and security patrols.

Officials emphasized that safety protocols and perimeter security are currently under review to identify potential improvements to the airport’s defense system, including efforts to address potential camera blind spots caused by ditches near the fence line.

There were 231 people on board Frontier Flight 4345, officials said.

Twelve passengers reported minor injuries, most of them sustained while using the emergency slide during the evacuation.

Five individuals were transported to local hospitals and four have been released. The condition of the remaining patient remains unknown.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted jointly by local law enforcement and federal agencies, including the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Florida students boo graduation speaker who called AI ‘next Industrial Revolution’ | AI (artificial intelligence)

0

Though college graduations usually consist of a speaker giving advice to students, one recent ceremony featured students giving the speaker their opinions – loudly.

The University of Central Florida’s 2026 graduating class booed as a real estate development executive spoke about how “the rise of artificial intelligence is the next Industrial Revolution” and about “living in a time of profound change”.

The crowd of students was so loud that Gloria Caulfield paused, turned away from the podium and threw her hands up in the air.

“Woop, what happened?” she asked, before letting out a nervous laugh: “OK, I struck a chord. May I finish?”

As the crowd calmed down, Caulfield proceeded. “Only a few years ago, AI was not a factor in our lives.” That seemed to cheer them up – and led to a raucous applause.

“We’ve got a bipolar topic here, I see,” Caulfield said, as she got back on track, for a third time: “AI capabilities are in the palm of our hands,” she said, before the crowd booed again. “Oh I love it, passion: let’s go,” she said playfully.

Like a teacher scolding disruptive students, she continued: “OK, I don’t want any giggles when I say this. We have been through this before,” she said.

She segued into a comparison of the current graduates’ plight to when she finished college as the internet started taking off. “I know it sounds amusing, but at that time we had no idea how any of these technologies would impact the world and our lives,” Caulfield said. “There were some of the same trepidations and concerns we are now facing, but ultimately it was a gamechanger for global economic development and the proliferation of new businesses.”

The crowd did not interrupt the rest of her speech, but the boos that rang through the arena echoed a very real source of anxiety that’s taken hold of students across the country. Graduating college seniors are worried about how AI is already transforming some jobs, and could eventually replace others, altogether. The pressure to pick a major that leads to an AI-proof career is high, students have said, as tech CEOs slash workforces based on claims that AI can replace some jobs and boost efficiency at an unprecedented scale. Industries outside Silicon Valley don’t seem immune either, as AI is affecting everything from graphic design to Hollywood and journalism.

A majority of recent college graduates view AI as a threat to their job prospects, according to a 2025 poll by the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School.

The University of Central Florida did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Sunny Hostin calls Trump fertility care expansion a ‘win’ on ‘The View’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin called President Donald Trump’s proposals to expand fertility care and set up investment savings accounts for children “good policies” on Monday.

The Trump administration announced an effort on Sunday to expand access to fertility care, as the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and Treasury proposed a rule to include a “new category of limited excepted benefits to further expand the ability of employers to offer meaningful fertility benefits to their employees,” according to a press release.

Hostin — a frequent harsh critic of Trump and his policies — actually praised the effort.

“As someone who also struggled with infertility, Manny and I went through our entire life savings to have our children,” Hostin said. “There was no insurance. We were fortunate enough to have a home that his parents gave us a down payment for, and we borrowed against our entire home and our entire savings to have our two beautiful children. And so the fact that something like this is available, where you do have help with IVF, that you do have help with the IVF drugs, I think is a win.”

Hostin and Griffin

“There’s so much to criticize Donald Trump for — especially his racism and his xenophobia and his misogyny, yes — but these particular things where you have an account, a Trump account where your children can have $200,000 when they’re 18 years old and the help with infertility, which is also a crisis in the country, I think you call a thing a thing and I think these are good policies,” she added.

Fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg pushed back on Hostin’s support, though praising the expansion of fertility benefits.

“I think the infertility is great, and I’ll believe it when I see people actually getting to do it, but I will not give him this until he takes care of the kids from birth to 18 or 20. I’m sorry. That’s me,” she said.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin — who worked in the first Trump administration but has since become a vocal critic — also said she supported the policies and that she opened a Trump account for her newborn son.

“I set up a Trump account for my son when he was born,” she said. “The government matches $1,000. And if you were to contribute 5,000 a year, which that’s higher end, you would do — that’s like tax-free, tax deferred — Charles Schwab says at 18, it would have about 100,000 or almost $200,000 in it, so this is similar to a 529 account or a Roth IRA.”

Griffin explained that she used IVF to get pregnant, and it took her five rounds, costing six figures.

On TrumpRX, Griffin said, one of the medications was listed for much less than what she had paid.

“I paid ten times more than what it’s now available for,” she said. “This isn’t new. Mark Cuban has something very similar where he has low-cost drugs, but these are tangible impacts to help people. So my thing is, Trump gives us plenty to critique him on. This is not bad policy.”

Budget 2026 live updates: Coalition pledges to repeal Chalmers’ tax reforms amid mixed reception for ‘difficult’ budget | Australian budget 2026

Key events

The Coalition said last night it would repeal changes to capital gains tax and negative gearing if elected as it tried to hit back at Labor’s budget measures.

The shadow treasurer, Tim Wilson, told Sky News the prime minister promised not to touch the incentives during last year’s election campaign and that therefore Labor did not have a mandate for the reforms.

Wilson said:

double quotation markWe’ll repeal these measures if necessary, but our objective is to defeat them and to make sure that they’re never legislated. Because this government doesn’t have licence from the Australian community support these changes.

Wilson also says the $250 tax offset for workers will be eaten up within six months due to inflation. That offset will be given to workers after next year – so it’s still a while away.

Deported Mexican national arrested as suspected serial killer in Texas

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

U.S. Marshals and Texas police have arrested an illegal immigrant and suspected serial killer in connection with a pair of strangling murders from 2024 and 2018 — and two more recent shootings in which female victims survived.

Luis Fernando Benitez-Gonzalez, 26, is accused of killing 34-year-old Alyssa Ann Rivera, in Austin, and 28-year-old Alba Jenisse Aviles-Marti in Bastrop County.

“We believe that there is a strong likelihood that Benitez is responsible for further acts of extreme violence,” Austin Police Detective Chris Anderson said at a news briefing.

He was arrested on April 27 in the Dallas area by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Anderson said.

Luis Benitez-Gonzalez has been accused of killing two women and shooting two more who survived. He is an illegal immigrant from Mexico who was voluntarily deported in 2020, according to authorities. Austin police believe there may be more victims. (Austin Police Department)

The detective alleged that the evidence and Benitez-Gonzalez’s own statements show “a repeated pattern of violence conducted against vulnerable female victims.”

He said Benitez-Gonzalez may have interacted with more potential victims in Austin, Dallas, Houston and Hidalgo County.

“He has a 2018 case, and he has a 2024 case,” Anderson said. “People who commit crimes of this nature, with the very distinct MO, they usually don’t take a break. Not for six years.”

During the briefing, Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla revealed that Benitez-Gonzalez is a Mexican national who had previously been voluntarily deported in 2020. It was not immediately clear when he returned to the U.S.

Austin police found Rivera dead on June 21, 2024, after a resident called 911 to report seeing a body in a vacant home on Metcalfe Road. She had been beaten and strangled, police said.

In 2018, Aviles-Marti had been sexually assaulted and strangled with a seatbelt in her car, according to authorities. Bastrop County deputies responded to the scene after a driver reported seeing her car on the shoulder of San Antonio Road — just three miles from where Rivera’s remains were found six years later.

Austin police announced in 2024 they had linked the two cases after investigators sent DNA evidence from each of them to the FBI’s CODIS database. Benitez-Gonzalez, however, was not in the database, and it took another two years before he was charged.

Anderson and another detective interrogated him.

“During that interview, he made admissions related to both aggravated assaults and the 2024 homicide of Alyssa Rivera and the 2018 homicide of Alba Jenisse Aviles-Marti,” he said. “Although Benitez-Gonzalez attempted to characterize his actions as self-defense, the totality of the evidence developed in this investigation does not support that claim.”

Pro wrestler Vinny Pacifico has made a name for himself on the independent scene and the success has led him down roads he never thought possible.

The Staten Island, New York, native started training in a pro wrestling ring when he was just 14 after telling his father he no longer wanted to play high school football. He told Fox News Digital in a recent interview it was chats with John Cena and Bryan Danielson (formerly known as Daniel Bryan) that convinced him he was on the right path.

“At one point, I was playing football in high school and I told my father, listen, I love football, I love this, I was following in his footsteps and all these things, but I said I want to try professional wrestling. I want to go for this. I have to do it,” Pacifico said. “I just felt this need, this fire burning inside of me that I just needed to chase this dream. And after that, I went to a John Cena talk show and he talked after that and I asked him for advice. He was very, very motivating, very, very inspiring. A little while after that, I went to a meet-and-greet with Daniel Bryan in the city – another one of my favorite wrestlers. Asked him his advice and he was the same way – motivating, inspiring, just a great conversation we had.

“Once those two things happened, I knew this was what I was meant to be doing. So, yeah, I got my start at 13 and 12 years later, I’ve traveled to 15-plus countries, wrestled all over the world, doing things I couldn’t even imagine I’d be doing. Now, over the last year, spanning into a lot of films and TV, it’s been just an amazing experience. I’m thankful for everything because, at the end of the day, I’m just a kid who started this dream and turned it into something I never could have imagined.”

Pacifico said his father was nothing but supportive of his decision and still shows up for his matches to this day.

Pro wrestling has an overwhelming effect on everyone – either you really love it or you really hate it. For Pacifico, he knew from watching on television that he really wanted to give it a try and be as malleable as possible.

“I loved watching it on TV, just the way it captivates you, just the way it makes you believe for a moment and it makes you leave reality,” he told Fox News Digital. “That’s TV, film, movies, they all do that, but wrestling is a live art form. So, that’s what it did for me.

“When I started, it was very hard to transition because, you have to think when you’re wrestling, ‘What do the fans want to see?’ How do we get these fans to emotionally invest in us? And that’s the thing, I said, ‘OK, as a fan, for me, I liked these things.’ Nowadays, I watch the first match of the show and I just try to imagine, OK, the fans liked this, the fans liked this, and I try to figure out what crowds like. All over the world, there’s different types of fans. In Japan, they like what they like. In Europe, they like what they like. There’s all different types of styles and ways to go about things in the ring. So, I try to always establish, OK, tonight, I’m doing to be doing this. I can adapt to any style. I was trained by Ring of Honor so they taught me to be able to do any style and I’m phenomenally grateful for that.”

Pacifico has performed across multiple promotions since then, including All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Ring of Honor, WWE, Coastal Championship Wrestling, Awesome Championship Wrestling and several others.

But one match stands out for him above the rest – his bout against Paul London.

London, a standout veteran wrestler in his own right, squared off with Pacifico at Pro Wrestling Magic in 2024 for the PWM Junior Heavyweight Championship. Pacifico won the match.

“I would say it’s me vs. Paul London,” he said. “That one was one of the most electric matches I’ve had in my career, character work, technical wrestling – like a grand finale at the fireworks. You watch it and everything went down in that match.”

Now, Pacifico is up for a new challenge – the silver screen.

He told Fox News Digital he just wrapped up “Mr. Reset and the Society of Turnbuckle and Bone,” which comes out on June 2. He was also in the films “Family Ties” and “Crimson Harvest.”

“I got to play myself, my wrestling character,” he said of “Mr. Reset and the Society of Turnbuckle and Bone.” “So, it was very simple for me to do both. That was the first one I ever did. I absolutely loved being on set, filming and having my character be tested in different ways. You know, how would Vinny Pacifico react to this thing or other emotional things that you wouldn’t always get in a wrestling event. So, it was really cool to dive deep into the character of who I am and really just play with it.”

“I’m really enjoying getting to do both all the time and even go as far as wrestling the same week as I’m acting and filming,” he told Fox News Digital. “Both schedules have been very easy to work around. I’ve had no conflict whatsoever yet. So, I’m very grateful for that as well.”
