‘The Hills’ star Spencer Pratt’s LA mayor bid sparks CNN panel clash

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

CNN panelist Lydia Moynihan and political commentator Leigh McGowan sparred during a heated segment on “Table for Five” over LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt and his comments about homelessness, drug use and public safety in Los Angeles.

“I think Republicans should be taking copious notes because he’s literally – you just got to embrace common sense and be normal,” Moynihan said during the segment while defending Pratt’s growing online popularity and criticism of city leadership.

Moynihan argued Pratt was resonating with voters by speaking bluntly about issues facing Los Angeles.

“And he is calling out the fact that leftists in LA seem to be fine with letting people shoot up in front of schools,” Moynihan said. “They’re fine with dogs getting injected with fentanyl. They’re doing nothing.”

Moynihan said Pratt’s messaging connected because it focused on issues she argued many voters already agree on.

“And he’s calling out some very obvious things that the vast majority of Americans can agree on,” Moynihan said. “And he’s going viral because of it. People want common sense.”

McGowan pushed back immediately, saying Pratt’s comments and political aspirations reflected celebrity culture rather than practical governance.

“Is this common sense for real?” McGowan said. “Like, as an LA voter, as someone that will vote for mayor in Los Angeles, I’m telling you, this is the opposite of common sense. This is so embarrassing.”

McGowan criticized Pratt’s background in entertainment and the influencer culture, arguing it did not qualify him to run a major American city.

“I am so exhausted of being surrounded by this level of idiocy,” McGowan said. “This guy is not practical. This man’s plan was to live off his reality fame.”

McGowan also questioned Pratt’s campaign-style promises on homelessness, corruption and “renters’ rights.”

“He says he’s going to end corruption. How?” McGowan said. “He says he’s going to have no more homeless. How? He says he’s going to have renters’ rights. How?”

Thousands rally in London against rising antisemitic attacks

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Tens of thousands rallied in London Sunday alarmed at the massive increase in violent attacks against the country’s Jewish population. Marchers made clear their anger towards the inaction of the British government.

Thousands rallied in London Sunday, alarmed by the massive increase in violent attacks against the country’s Jewish population. Marchers made clear their anger toward the British government’s inaction.

Speaking a few days before the rally, U.K. Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch told Fox News Digital, “Zero tolerance for antisemitism means treating this epidemic of violence as a genuine national emergency.” Badenoch has called for stronger enforcement, including deporting foreign preachers who are spreading hate in mosques and other institutions. “Antisemites will not be welcomed or tolerated. Britain has been a haven for Jews for centuries. It must remain so.”

Her warning comes as the United Kingdom raised its national terrorism threat level to “severe,” the second-highest classification, meaning an attack is considered highly likely. The move reflects what security officials describe as a worsening threat environment amid a spike in antisemitic incidents, arson attacks and targeted violence.

“There’s an unholy alliance of the hard Left and Islamist extremists behind some of the spread of antisemitism,” Badenoch warned. “What do people think chants such as ‘from the river to the sea’ or ‘globalize the intifada’ mean if they do not mean the erasure of the world’s only Jewish state and violence against Jews everywhere?”

British security officials have long noted that Islamist extremism remains one of the United Kingdom’s primary terror threats, with MI5 warning that radicalization networks and extremist ideology continue to pose serious risks.

Jewish leaders and analysts say expressions of support for terrorist groups such as Hamas, combined with public glorification of violence, have contributed to an environment in which anti-Jewish hostility is becoming increasingly normalized.

Despite mounting criticism over Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s handling of antisemitism as incidents continue to reach new highs across the U.K., Starmer, speaking at the No10 Tackling Antisemitism Forum last week, said: “Our Jewish communities [are] feeling frightened, angry and asking whether this country, their home, is safe for them.”

He added: “In recent months, as antisemitic incidents have risen, we have acted decisively to strengthen the safety of Jewish communities,” announcing an additional £25 million in funding for increased patrols and enhanced security to prevent serious harm before it occurs.” Despite those assurances, critics say the response is still falling short, warning that Jewish communities remain exposed and the situation is continuing to escalate.

Both victims are in stable condition, and the suspect was caught by police after being tasered. Jonathan Sacerdoti, a London-based commentator and writer, told Fox News Digital that authorities have demonstrated the ability to deploy large scale policing when necessary, but many Jewish residents are questioning whether that same urgency is being applied to protecting them.

“Considering they’re able to police massive anti-Israel protests every two weeks for the last two and a half years,” Sacerdoti said, “they ought to be able to do the same to protect Jews.”

He added that security funding alone cannot solve what he sees as a deeper problem.

ANTISEMITISM IS BECOMING ‘NORMAL,’ WITH JEWISH TEENS PAYING THE PRICE

“Jews should not need a volunteer security organization,” he said. “The state should protect us itself.”

For many Jewish families across the United Kingdom, the impact is no longer abstract. It is being felt in everyday life.

Rabbi Albert Chait, senior rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregation in Leeds, said one of the most troubling signs is how normalized constant security has become for Jewish children.

“You know what the worst thing is, in my opinion?” Chait said. “The fact that my children do not ask why there is police outside their school. They do not question why there is paid security on the gate and on the street. They do not even question it because that is just normal day to day activity.”

ANTISEMITIC VIOLENCE ESCALATES AS DEADLY WEAPON ATTACKS SURGE IN 2025: REPORT

According to the Community Security Trust, antisemitic incidents in Britain reached approximately 3,700 in 2025, among the highest totals on record, prompting increased funding for security at synagogues, schools and Jewish institutions.

As Britain confronts what many are increasingly describing as a national crisis, similar warning signs are becoming more visible in the United States.

This past week in Queens, New York, multiple Jewish homes, a synagogue and a Jewish community center housing a preschool were vandalized with swastikas and antisemitic graffiti, raising alarm among residents.

From swastikas scrawled in school bathrooms and subway stations to antisemitic graffiti targeting synagogues and Jewish institutions, symbols of hate are appearing with growing visibility in everyday American life.

New York City officials say four suspects allegedly spray-painted swastikas and other antisemitic symbols on synagogues, homes and cars in Queens, New York, earlier this week. (New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin/X)

“One of the sites houses a pre-K program, where young children, their families and staff were greeted with swastikas and other hateful vandalism,” Mark Treyger, CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York told Jewish Insider. “This is not normal, and we need city leaders to act now.”

For many observers, the parallels are difficult to ignore.

What Britain is experiencing, rising antisemitic violence, normalized hostility, and ongoing debates over ideology and enforcement, is no longer confined overseas.

It is increasingly being reflected in American communities.

And as the crisis unfolds, Badenoch’s warning carries implications far beyond the United Kingdom.

“I have never seen the level of racism, discrimination, intimidation and attacks that have been directed at the Jewish community,” she said. “If other minority communities were facing similar levels of violence, there would be a national emergency.”

Firefighter shortage puts communities at risk as call volumes triple: ‘Steady decline’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

America is experiencing staffing shortages at fire departments across the country, putting the safety of communities and firefighters at risk.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, career firefighter Jason Cerrano, based in St. Louis, Missouri, shared just how understaffed the industry is.

According to data from IDEX Fire and Safety, where Cerrano is a director for research and development, there has been a “huge shift” in the fire service.

FIREFIGHTER CREDITS ‘STRICT’ HOME ROUTINE, MEDICAL TESTS TO STAY ALIVE WELL PAST RETIREMENT

When Cerrano started in 1999, departments were “pretty loaded up,” sometimes to the point where there weren’t volunteer positions available. There was also a “huge influx” following 9/11, he said.

Although the fire service has “always been amazing” at community outreach through efforts like fire prevention programs, Cerrano suggested that recruiting is one thing departments never had to do.

Veteran firefighter Jason Cerrano entered the fire service as a volunteer in his early 20s, which turned into a 20-year-long career after he “absolutely fell in love with it.” (Jason Cerrano/IDEX Fire and Safety)

Over the last two decades, departments have seen a “steady decline” in volunteers, down from about 900,000 to 700,000, according to Cerrano.

Meanwhile, career firefighting (full-time, paid fire departments) has only seen about 30,000 to 40,000 more jobs added in those two decades. Over that same period, call volumes have tripled.

First responders at risk

Fewer firefighters on the ground automatically increases the risk when responding to a fire, according to Cerrano.

“The fire ground is random; things happen, whether it’s a fire or a car accident or something else it’s an unstable environment, or we wouldn’t be there,” he said.

FIRE DEPARTMENTS TURN TO AI TO DETECT WILDFIRES FASTER

“Every time … there’s something you can’t imagine that throws a wrench in it, so the more people you have who can evaluate those things and see something coming at you from the side, that’s the most important thing.”

The fire service has already made internal improvements to ensure the health of firefighters, including calmer wake-ups, initiatives to keep gear clean, and increased awareness around cancer prevention and environmental risk factors, Cerrano noted.

“The fire service is at risk in so many different ways, and people need to understand that the more people out there, the safer,” he said, emphasizing the need for technology that can help firefighters do their jobs in a “steady, consistent manner.”

Why numbers are low

Most people consider career departments (full-time firefighting) as a steadier job, but any kind of firefighting is a “good career” with “good benefits,” according to Cerrano.

Especially with Gen Z entering the workforce, this younger generation of workers is looking for more in return from their day-to-day jobs than previous employees, he noted.

“The fire service, if you think about it culturally, you were lucky to be there,” the firefighter told Fox News Digital. “The more experienced people treated you that way … You can’t just come into the fire services and be a hero day one. [You] have to be treated like rookies.”

“Sometimes that feels like you’re being kept down,” he went on. “We just have to remember when these new recruits are coming in, we have to make sure they always feel like they have purpose, or that generation will leave. And frankly, I wouldn’t blame them for it.”

The fire service should put more effort into recruiting based on the needs of new generations, Cerrano suggested. (iStock)

While the fire service is “great at being traditional,” Cerrano suggested that it could “step up” its involvement with emerging technology, as branches of the military have.

“We need to celebrate our tradition and use it in our work habits and our environments around the engine houses,” he said. “But I think when it comes to our tools and the way we do things, we have to start moving forward if we’re going to bring in those new recruits and retain them.”

Qualities of a great recruit

While potential new firefighters do need to be qualified for the job, it doesn’t require being a “straight A student” to get through the training and education, according to Cerrano.

It does, however, require a willingness to get dirty, wake up in the middle of the night and handle yourself in emotional circumstances, he said.

Firefighting requires a willingness to get dirty, wake up in the middle of the night and handle yourself in emotional circumstances, according to Cerrano. (Jason Cerrano/IDEK Fire and Safety)

“A lot of people don’t want to go out and take risks or be in situations that can sometimes be hard to deal with,” he said. “But that risk versus reward, or that risk versus the emotional toll that it can take, gives you a really big sense of purpose, because you spend your whole life helping people.”

Cerrano pointed out that many volunteer firefighters don’t see the “fire ground,” instead fulfilling crucial tasks at the fire house.

“You can do a lot in your community without having to go in and take all the risks,” he added.

“It’s important that, as a country, we’re helping this volunteer fire service get it figured out. It’s a huge issue for everybody from a safety standpoint.”

Scarlett Bordeaux, a true visionary, wanted to bring the sexy back to the WWE with bra and panties matches

Scarlett Bordeaux, self-described as Professional Wrestling’s Smokeshow, had some big plans when she made her way up the ranks and landed in the WWE. Unfortunately, those plans never materialized.

She and her husband, Kevin Kesar, also known as Killer Kross,, were initially released by the wrestling organization in 2021. They returned the following year for a three-year run that eventually came to an end in August 2025.

During an interview with retired pro wrestler D-Von Dudley, the couple discussed their time in the WWE and the release of wrestlers, which is fairly routine in the business.

Scarlett revealed that, after making a name for herself in the lower ranks and putting up huge numbers online in other organizations, she had plans to bring the sexy back to wrestling while in the WWE.

For whatever reason, even the best of intentions and most noble of goals fall short sometimes. That’s what ended up playing out. She was never given the opportunity to reach those goals.

Without the opportunity, her dreams never became a reality. She blames the company’s direction for putting a stop to it and holding the sexy back. All she wanted was to throw it back to a simpler time in wrestling when asses were out and there were bra and panties matches.

“I think they were pushing the women’s revolution in the way they were, and my character was the exact opposite of that. It was a throwback. It was a parody of bringing sexy back to wrestling. Because all the girls are trying to be serious,” Scarlett said.

“I’m like, ‘No, no. Let’s just be a hot chick. Like, bring back bra and panties matches.’ No one was doing that at the time. No one had their asses out. It pissed a lot of people off, including women in the business. But it’s funny, because now, look where we are… it was a great heel character.”

The WWE missed out when the organization decided not to run with it. They, as D-Von Dudley rightfully said, “dropped the ball.” They signed Scarlett Bordeaux for her character, but inexplicably didn’t want to use it. That’s going be a tough realization for some wrestling fans to come to terms with.

The development comes after authorities revealed earlier in the week that investigators had uncovered evidence suggesting possible human remains at the property, which is associated with Paul Flores’ mother, Susan Flores.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson said during a news conference Friday that soil testing indicated compounds consistent with a decomposing human body.

“We believe that… human remains were there at one time, or still there,” Parkinson said. “We think there’s evidence to support human remains.”

“I’m not going to go into the details, other than just to say with soil tests, it’s about the compounds in the soil that are related to a human, decomposing body,” he added.

The renewed search effort marked the latest development in the nearly three-decade-old case that has gripped California’s Central Coast.

Kristin Smart was a 19-year-old student at California Polytechnic State University when she disappeared in May 1996 after attending an off-campus party. Prosecutors later said Paul Flores killed her during an attempted rape in his dorm room.

Paul Flores, now 49, was convicted of first-degree murder in 2022 and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, but Smart’s body has never been found.

San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow previously said his office remains committed to locating Smart’s remains, adding that authorities will continue using every lawful tool available to bring answers to her family.
