Ivanti warns of new EPMM flaw exploited in zero-day attacks

Ivanti

Ivanti warned customers today to patch a high-severity remote code execution vulnerability in Endpoint Manager Mobile (EPMM) exploited in zero-day attacks.

The security flaw (tracked as CVE-2026-6973) stems from an Improper Input Validation weakness that allows remote attackers with administrative privileges to execute arbitrary code on targeted systems running EPMM 12.8.0.0 and earlier.

Ivanti says customers can mitigate the zero-day by installing Ivanti EPMM 12.6.1.1, 12.7.0.1, and 12.8.0.1, and advises customers to review accounts with Admin rights and rotate those credentials where necessary.

“At the time of disclosure, we are aware of very limited exploitation of CVE-2026-6973, which requires admin authentication for successful exploitation. We are not aware of any customers being exploited by the other vulnerabilities disclosed today,” the company said.

“The issues only affect the on-prem EPMM product, and are not present in Ivanti Neurons for MDM, Ivanti’s cloud-based unified endpoint management solution, Ivanti EPM (a similarly named, but different product), Ivanti Sentry, or any other Ivanti products.”

Internet security watchdog Shadowserver currently tracks over 850 IP addresses with Ivanti EPMM fingerprints exposed online, most of them from Europe (508) and North America (182).

However, there is no information on how many of them have already been patched against attacks exploiting the CVE-2026-6973 vulnerability.

Today, Ivanti also patched four other high-severity EPMM vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-5786, CVE-2026-5787, CVE-2026-5788, and CVE-2026-7821) that can allow attackers to gain admin access, impersonate registered Sentry hosts to obtain valid CA-signed client certificates, invoke arbitrary methods, and gain access to restricted information.

However, the company said it has no evidence that these flaws have been exploited in the wild and noted that CVE-2026-7821 (which can be exploited by attackers without privileges) affects only users who use and have configured Apple Device Enrollment.

In January, Ivanti disclosed two other critical EPMM code-injection vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-1281 and CVE-2026-1340) that were exploited in zero-day attacks affecting a “very limited number of customers.”

“If customers followed Ivanti’s recommendation in January to rotate credentials if you were exploited with CVE-2026-1281 and CVE-2026-1340, then your risk of exploitation from CVE-2026-6973 is significantly reduced,” the company added today.

In April, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) gave U.S. government agencies 4 days to secure their systems against CVE-2026-1340 attacks.

Multiple other Ivanti EPMM zero-days have been exploited in attacks in recent years to breach a wide range of targets, including government agencies worldwide. In total, CISA has flagged 33 Ivanti vulnerabilities as exploited in the wild, 12 of which were also abused by various ransomware operations.

Ivanti provides IT asset management products to more than 40,000 customers through a network of over 7,000 partners worldwide.

Israeli settler to go on trial over attack on French nun in Jerusalem | Israel

0

An Israeli settler suspected of kicking and wounding a French Catholic nun in Jerusalem will go on trial for assault motivated by hostility towards a religious group, Israel’s justice ministry has said.

The attack on the nun, a 48-year-old researcher at Jerusalem’s French School of Biblical and Archaeological Research, occurred on Mount Zion, just outside the Old City.

The suspect, Yona Simcha Schreiber, 36, is from a settlement in the occupied West Bank named Peduel.

He has been under arrest since 29 April and the prosecution has asked that he remain in detention until the trial, the ministry said in a statement. Schreiber faces a charge of assault resulting in injuries, motivated by hostility towards a religious group.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows a man rushing towards the nun, who was dressed in a white habit and black veil, and violently pushing her to the ground where she comes close to hitting her head on a stone block. The man leaves the scene only to return and kick the nun before a passerby intervenes.

The French consulate in Jerusalem condemned the attack, demanding the man be brought to trial.

In a statement at the time of the incident, the Faculty of Humanities at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem expressed “profound shock and condemnation” and deplored the “troubling pattern” and nature of the attack.

The faculty said: “This is not an isolated incident, but part of a troubling pattern of rising hostility towards the Christian community and its symbols.”

Israel’s foreign ministry also condemned the “shameful act” in a statement on X, and said Israel remained committed “to safeguarding freedom of religion and freedom of worship for all faiths”.

Lawmakers push to move Secret Service under White House after Trump assassination scares

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

FIRST ON FOX: A pair of House lawmakers are seeking a major change to the Secret Service after heightened scrutiny following the third assassination attempt against President Donald Trump in April.

Reps. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., and Russell Fry, R-S.C., introduced legislation Thursday that would transfer the Secret Service from DHS supervision and make the agency a direct report to the White House.

The measure is part of a broader package of bipartisan reforms that Moskowitz, a former emergency management director, is unveiling to reform the sprawling department that has come under frequent criticism for bureaucratic dysfunction. His legislative package would also make FEMA an independent cabinet-level agency and move TSA under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation.

The goal, Moskowitz said, is to cut red tape at DHS that impedes its subagencies’ ability to function — an observation he saw up close as a member of the congressional task force investigating the first assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pa.

TRUMP BUTLER RALLY SECRET SERVICE TEAM FAILED MULTIPLE BASIC PROTOCOLS BEFORE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT, DOCS REVEAL

“Going to Butler, talking to Secret Service, is when I realized, well, the Secret Service is suffering the same problems that FEMA is suffering,” Moskowitz said in an interview with Fox News Digital. “Because they were such a small agency, they couldn’t get the resources they needed. They couldn’t get decisions being made.”

“These pieces of legislation would streamline all three of those agencies,” Moskowitz added. “It would cut a lot of the bureaucracy we’re getting at DHS.”

Moskowitz, who was present at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, during which the Secret Service subdued the alleged shooter, said the assassination scare reinforced the need to make the agency directly accountable to the president and provide agents with “more resources, not less.”

Fry, who is co-leading the bill, said the measure would better allow the Secret Service to fulfill its responsibility of protecting the president.

“In a time where political attacks are becoming increasingly rampant, the Secret Service should be able to focus solely on its mission of protecting top U.S. officials — not dealing with bureaucratic tape that ultimately serves as a distraction to keeping the president safe,” Fry said.

WITNESSES RECOUNT CHAOS AT WHCA DINNER AFTER SHOOTING, SECRET SERVICE AGENTS DREW GUNS TO EVACUATE TRUMP

Moskowitz’s DHS reform package comes after the embattled department endured a record-breaking funding lapse that concluded in late April after lasting for 76 days. The Florida lawmaker repeatedly joined Democrats against full-year DHS spending bills, but supported funding the department’s non-immigration functions.

If Moskowitz’s reform package was signed into law, the TSA, Secret Service and FEMA would likely be shielded from another prolonged DHS funding lapse.

More than 1,000 TSA agents quit during the shutdown, leading to long security lines at major airports and a spike in missed flights for passengers.

“I don’t think the American people should have their lives interrupted at the airport because of the dysfunction in Washington,” Moskowitz told Fox News Digital.

He also argued that TSA would function better if it was transferred out of DHS.

“The idea that the Department of Transportation, they have the FAA that keeps our skies safe, but then Homeland keeps the people safe in the airport … we should put things under one roof,” Moskowitz said. “I’m trying to unify keeping people safe in the air and safe on the ground when flying.”

Moskowitz’s previous efforts to make FEMA a cabinet-level agency have stalled in committee.

The Florida lawmaker, however, said he has talked with members of the Trump administration about reforms to DHS and believes there is extensive bipartisan support for overhauling the department.

“The question is, are we able to function and actually do something like this anymore?” Moskowitz said. “Or are we just only able to fund the agencies now and can’t do any reform?”

Moskowitz is partnering with Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., on the FEMA reform measure and co-leading the TSA transfer bill with Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn.

He told Fox News Digital that he is planning to seek re-election in the new GOP-leaning 25th congressional district, following Florida Republicans passing an aggressive gerrymandered map that carved up his Democratic seat last week.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and the DHS before publication.

US supreme court justices not ‘political’, John Roberts says amid backlash | US supreme court

0

US chief justice John Roberts has insisted supreme court judges are not “political actors” amid outrage over its recent decision undermining the Voting Right Act, and other moves that have benefited Donald Trump and his allies.

“I think, at a very basic level, people think we’re making policy decisions, we’re saying we think this is how things should be, as opposed to what the law provides,” Roberts told a conference for judges and lawyers in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. “I think they view us as purely political actors, which I don’t think is an accurate understanding of what we do.”

The supreme court is “simply not part of the political process”, Roberts claimed. He acknowledged, however, that some of its decisions may spark controversy. “One thing we have to do is make decisions that are unpopular,” he said, according to the AP.

The chief justice, a conservative nominated by Republican George W Bush in 2005, also reiterated his condemnation of threats against lower court judges. “That’s not appropriate and it can lead to very serious problems,” he said.

Roberts leads a court on which conservatives have held a six-justice majority since 2020, and handed down a series of decisions that have upended longstanding precedent and, in Trump’s second term, allowed many of his policies to take effect, at least temporarily.

Last week’s decision on the Voting Rights Act has greenlit a scramble by Republican-led states to enact new congressional maps that will break up districts drawn to elect Black lawmakers, who tend to be Democrats. That may amount to a major blow to the party’s long-term chances of controlling the US House of Representatives.

The court has also expanded use of a fast-track process known as the “shadow docket” to temporarily pause lower court rulings against the Trump administration, including his mass deportation policies and gutting of federal departments.

During Joe Biden’s presidency, the Roberts court handed down landmark rulings overturning the constitutional right to abortion, and giving presidents some immunity for official acts.

The justices have not been entirely supportive of the Republican’s second-term agenda: in February, it found that many of the tariffs Trump had imposed were illegal.

But there have nonetheless been signs that the court’s split decisions on high-profile issues have raised tensions with the three liberal justices.

In an order this week allowing Louisiana to begin redrawing its congressional maps in light of the court’s decision against the Voting Rights Act, Ketanji Brown Jackson, a justice who was appointed by Joe Biden in 2022, dissented, calling the move “unwarranted and unwise”.

“The Court unshackles itself from both constraints today and dives into the fray. And just like that, those principles give way to power,” Jackson wrote.

That prompted a rebuke from Samuel Alito, a justice who, in a concurrence joined by fellow conservatives Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch, described the arguments laid out by Jackson as “trivial at best, and … baseless and insulting”.

$250M crypto-robbing gang’s dirty work guy sentenced to 6.5 years behind bars

Add section name here

The then-teen was told to break in and steal what the keyboard warriors couldn’t

A 20-year-old described as a cybercriminal organization’s “last resort” for cryptocurrency thefts will now serve a 78-month sentence for his role in a $250 million scheme.

Marlon Ferro, of Santa Ana, California, was a member of what prosecutors called a social engineering enterprise (SEE) consisting of at least 12 other individuals, and was tasked with traveling across the US and physically stealing what other members couldn’t through online fraud.

The gang all shared different responsibilities, but Ferro was the only one who carried out physical burglaries across the US when the methods of the crew’s remote cybercriminals failed to result in a financial reward.

“Marlon Ferro served as the criminal enterprise’s instrument of last resort,” said US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. “When his co-conspirators couldn’t deceive victims into handing over access to their cryptocurrency or hack their way into digital accounts, they turned to Ferro to break into homes and steal hardware wallets outright.

“This scheme blended sophisticated online fraud with old-fashioned burglary to drain victims of millions of dollars in digital assets. Today’s sentence sends a clear message: cryptocurrency fraud is not a victimless, consequence-free crime carried out safely behind a screen – it is serious criminal conduct that will lead to federal prison.”

The FBI pinned Ferro to numerous specific thefts across the US between 2023-2025 when the SEE was operating. In total, the SEE was responsible for more than $250 million worth of cryptocurrency thefts during this period.

The earliest tale of Ferro’s work came in February 2024, when he traveled to Winnsboro, Texas, and stole a hardware cryptocurrency wallet containing roughly 100 bitcoins, then valued at more than $5 million, before laundering it through online exchanges.

He relocated to California later that year, the Justice Department stated. The move allowed him to connect with and integrate himself into the SEE’s inner circle, since some members were located in California, as well as others in Connecticut, New York, Florida, and overseas territories.

Ferro began doing the SEE’s dirty, physical work. After another member identified a potential target, Ferro traveled to New Mexico and surveilled a residence for several days, and situated an iPhone in front of the property so members of the group could also watch remotely and alert Ferro if the owner returned.

Despite several days’ worth of surveillance, Ferro seemingly failed to spot the home security system, which captured him breaking into the premises by throwing a brick through a window.

Also on the 20-year-old’s rap sheet were details of his money laundering activities. Ferro used fraudulent ID documents belonging to a foreign national via “his KYC guy” to create a digital payment card account at what prosecutors described as “a geo-blocked platform.” Court documents named it as RedotPay, which secured some licenses to process transactions in the US and elsewhere earlier this year but it is still not allowed to offer products or services to US citizens.

This payment card account allowed SEE members to spend their stolen cryptocurrency at retail stores and nightclubs, the DoJ said.

Ferro alone spent more than $255,000 on designer clothing on behalf of SEE members, including multiple Hermès Birkin bags for one member’s girlfriend.

He also gathered stolen cryptocurrency from group members after the SEE’s leader, Malone Lam, was arrested in September 2024, and used those funds to pay the leader’s lawyer.

Ferro also regularly passed along messages from Lam to other group members while Lam was jailed.

He was sentenced to 78 months in prison, with three years of supervised release, and ordered to repay $2.5 million in restitution.

Lam’s gang

Each member, who according to court documents [PDF] found and built relationships with each other through online gaming platforms, brought a different specialty to the crew.

Some took responsibility for voice phishing and “database hacking,” while others looked after money laundering, among varied tasks. At least two members were involved in more than one of these operations.

The superseding indictment alleged that the SEE comprised three hackers who compromised websites and servers to gather cryptocurrency-related databases, as well as two “organizers” who also helped identify potential targets.

Six members worked as “callers,” the individuals carrying out voice phishing attacks, attempting to convince targets they were helping to secure their accounts against cyberattack. Money launderers, of which the SEE had at least eight, including Ferro, worked to exchange stolen cryptocurrency and other goods into fiat currency through bulk cash or wire transfer.

The launderers also helped procure luxury services for group members, such as exotic car purchases, private jet rentals, international vacations, or shipping the bulk cash across the US, the Justice Department alleged. ®

Election monitors note instances of voters in England turned away over ID | Local elections 2026

0

Instances of voters being turned away from polling stations due to confusion over photo ID requirements have been recorded by European election observers watching voting in England on Thursday.

While the problem is not regarded as widespread, it has been noted by the delegation from the Council of Europe, which will issue a report on the local elections in England as well as the Scottish and Welsh government elections.

The potential threat of interference by Russia or another hostile state was among issues discussed during talks this week involving the 17-member delegation from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, which represents 46 European member states. While Russian interference is understood not to be considered an issue in these elections, the visit is part of moves to share information among European states.

The delegation will publish a report on Friday that is expected to address issues including the extent to which there have been concerns over the organisation of polling stations, training of staff, access for people with disabilities and where there has been any harassment or any form of interference.

Steve Reed, the secretary of state for housing, communities and local government, met members of the delegation in Westminster on Wednesday. Representatives from Labour and the Greens also met the delegation.

The observers, who include politicians from Ireland, Poland, Germany, Moldova and other states, were at voting stations on Thursday. Locations included Gorton and Denton, where in February a UK-based election observer group raised concerns over people appearing to collude on voting in the byelection. Police subsequently concluded an inquiry into alleged “family voting” after finding no evidence of “any intent to influence or refrain any person” from casting a ballot.

Jani Kokko, a member of the Finnish parliament, told the Guardian: “The Congress of the Council of Europe is the only international organisation that observes local and regional elections. This time, observation of this nature is more important than ever because of the increasing threat posed by foreign interference, attempts to undermine democracy, and disinformation.

“I think this work is really important, not just here in the UK in terms of the recommendations we can make but also in terms of what we can learn from measures being taken here.”

The confusion witnessed over photo identification requirements came in London and is understood to relate to the type of official document needed.

The Elections Act 2022 introduced the requirement of bringing valid photo ID to be able to vote in some UK elections, including general elections and local elections in England. Accepted forms of ID include a passport or a photo driving licence. Concerns were expressed at the time that the move could lead to the disenfranchisement of some groups who were more likely to lack one or other of the accepted forms of ID.

A council in Scotland apologised this week after sending out polling cards in envelopes that incorrectly said photo identification would be needed to vote in the Scottish parliament elections. Photo ID rules also do not apply in the Welsh Senedd elections.

Matthew Boyd suffers freak injury while playing with his kids as Cubs pitching luck somehow gets worse

It’s incredible, and also a bit depressing, that the following statement is factually accurate: Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Matthew Boyd will miss a considerable amount of time for being a good father.

The 35-year-old sustained a left meniscus injury while reportedly “sitting down to play with his kids.” Prior to Chicago’s contest against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, Cubs manager Craig Counsell revealed that the knee injury would require surgery.

“It’s kind of unexplainable,” Counsell very fairly said.

The Cubs placed Boyd on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday, although a potential return date is up in the air at this point.

Boyd last took the mound for the Cubs on May 3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, an 8-4 win for Chicago, in which he gave up four hits and two earned runs in six innings of work. He was expected to make his next start on Friday in the first game of a three-game stint against the Texas Rangers, but that will not be happening.

CUBS STAR PETE CROW-ARMSTRONG SEEN RIPPING INTO TEAMMATE AFTER SCORING GAME-TYING RUN

As for who the Cubs may hand the ball to with Boyd going down with an injury, Counsell hadn’t gotten that far as of Wednesday evening.

“I’m not even there yet,” Counsell said, according to MLB.com, when asked who would replace Boyd in the rotation. “[We’ll] just kind of figure out after Thursday what we will do. There will be plans, but very loose plans.”

While Counsell’s comments may come across as nonchalant and a bit unserious, you can’t blame him, given his team’s horrible injury history at this point of the year.

This is a list, as of Thursday, of the pitchers currently on the injured list for the Cubs: Shelby Miller, Ethan Roberts, Cade Horton, Jordan Wicks, Hunter Harvey, Porter Hodge, Caleb Thielbar, Riley Martin, Justin Steele, and now Boyd.

For those counting at home, that’s 10 (!!!) pitchers on the IL for the Cubbies.
