Mahindra secures record 35,000-vehicle export deal with Indonesia

0

Mahindra & Mahindra has secured its largest-ever export order, agreeing to supply 35,000 Scorpio Pik Up light commercial vehicles to Indonesian state-owned enterprise Agrinas Pangan Nusantara in 2026. The order value surpasses the company’s total export volumes for the entire fiscal year 2025.

The vehicles will support Indonesia’s Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih project, a state-backed initiative aimed at strengthening village-level cooperatives across the country. The single-cab Scorpio Pik Ups will be deployed to improve logistics infrastructure, enabling the direct transport of agricultural produce from farms to markets and facilitating intra-village goods movement.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, said the partnership will significantly boost the company’s international operations while supporting Indonesia’s national food security objectives. The vehicles, manufactured at Mahindra’s Nashik plant, are designed for durability and low operating costs in challenging rural conditions.

The collaboration addresses critical first-mile aggregation challenges in Indonesia’s agricultural supply chain by providing cooperatives with reliable transportation to bridge the gap between producers and consumers. This infrastructure development is part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to transform village cooperatives into independent economic centres.

The Mumbai-based automotive manufacturer, founded in 1945, operates across over 100 countries with 324,000 employees and holds a leadership position in farm equipment and utility vehicles globally.

The shares of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited were trading at ₹3,577.10 up by ₹49.20 or 1.39 per cent on the NSE today at 11.35 am.

‘America is weak in dealing with self-reliant India’, statement of famous economist Jeffrey Sachs on India-America trade deal.

0

After the India-US trade deal, the tariff on Indian imports has been reduced to 18 percent. Statements of many American leaders and officials have come out regarding this deal, in which they are making many claims ranging from India not buying Russian oil to investing billions in America. On the other hand, apart from all this, the statement of famous economist Jeffrey has come.

Jeffrey strongly criticized the recent US-India trade agreement. He has called it a clear retreat strategy of Washington after months of unsuccessful pressure tactics. He said that this step did not demonstrate American power, but rather exposed America’s weakness in dealing with self-reliant India.

‘India reduced American influence to a great extent’
Rejecting US claims of making concessions on India’s behalf, Jeffrey argued that New Delhi’s diverse global business partnerships have significantly reduced American influence. He has given the credit for reshaping the balance of power regarding this conversation to India’s strategic reach beyond its traditional allies.

‘India capable of protecting its interests’
According to Jeffrey, due to changes in trade, India has emerged stronger economically and diplomatically, which has further strengthened its position as an independent global power. He said that India is capable of resisting unilateral pressure while protecting its national interests.

The India-US trade deal is being called the Father of All Deals, a few days before this, on January 27, a trade agreement was signed between India and the European Union (EU). This deal was called Mother of All Deals. Donald Trump was the first to announce the deal with America and India has informed about reducing the tariff by 18 percent. However, many things regarding this deal are still unclear.

World Responsible Nations: In the ranking of responsible countries, neither China, nor Russia, nor America, no one is in the top 10, what is the condition of India?

0

Amidst the increasing political tension, economic uncertainty and climate crisis in the world, the list of responsible countries 2026 has been released. This report has been published by the World Intellectual Foundation (WIF) on 19 January. In this list, Singapore has been declared the most responsible country in the world. Singapore has achieved first place by doing better in the fields of governance, society and environment.

Switzerland stood second and Denmark third in this list. These countries have been praised for honest governance, social security and global responsibility. This report is different from the usual global rankings, because it does not just look at economic strength or military power, but rather assesses how responsible a country is for its people and the entire world.

On what basis was the ranking done?

In this index, 154 countries of the world were examined on four main grounds, which are as follows:

  • honest and clean governance
  • social well-being of people
  • environmental protection
  • responsibility towards the world

The report revealed that despite having a big economy, many countries were left behind. America has got 66th position and China has got 68th position. This makes it clear that merely having money or power is not the mark of responsibility. Pakistan is at 90th place in this list.

Europe ahead, conflict countries behind

Many European countries are high on this list, which shows that there is special attention being paid to governance and social responsibility. At the same time, the situation of countries struggling with war and crisis remained weak. Syria was ranked 153rd and Yemen 151st, which are at the bottom of the list.

situation of india

India has got 16th position in this list and its score was 0.5515. According to the report, India has done good work in health services, social equality, environment related schemes and policies made keeping people at the center. However, the report also says that India will have to focus on balanced growth and consistent policy for better performance in the long run. Overall, this report shows that responsibility is not created only by power, but by right policies and work done in the interest of the people.

Microsoft Begins NTLM Phase-Out With Three-Stage Plan to Move Windows to Kerberos

0

Ravie LakshmananFeb 02, 2026Kerberos / Enterprise Security

Microsoft has announced a three-phase approach to phase out New Technology LAN Manager (NTLM) as part of its efforts to shift Windows environments toward stronger, Kerberos-based options.

The development comes more than two years after the tech giant revealed its plans to deprecate the legacy technology, citing its susceptibility to weaknesses that could facilitate relay attacks and allow bad actors to gain unauthorized access to network resources. NTLM was formally deprecated in June 2024 and no longer receives updates.

“NTLM consists of security protocols originally designed to provide authentication, integrity, and confidentiality to users,” Mariam Gewida, Technical Program Manager II at Microsoft, explained. “However, as security threats have evolved, so have our standards to meet modern security expectations. Today, NTLM is susceptible to various attacks, including replay and man-in-the-middle attacks, due to its use of weak cryptography.”

Despite the deprecated status, Microsoft said it continues to find the use of NTLM prevalent in enterprise environments where modern protocols like Kerberos cannot be implemented due to legacy dependencies, network limitations, or ingrained application logic. This, in turn, exposes organizations to security risks, such as replay, relay, and pass-the-hash attacks.

To mitigate this problem in a secure manner, the company has adopted a three-phase strategy that paves the way for NTLM to be disabled by default –

  • Phase 1: Building visibility and control using enhanced NTLM auditing to better understand where and why NTLM is still being used (Available now)
  • Phase 2: Addressing common roadblocks that prevent a migration to NTLM through features like IAKerb and local Key Distribution Center (KDC) (pre-release), as well as updating core Windows components to prioritize Kerberos authentication (Expected in H2 2026)
  • Phase 3: Disabling NTLM in the next version of Windows Server and associated Windows client, and requiring explicit re-enablement through new policy controls

Microsoft has positioned the transition as a major step toward a passwordless, phishing-resistant future. This also requires organizations relying on NTLM to conduct audits, map dependencies, migrate to Kerberos, test NTLM-off configurations in non-production environments, and enable Kerberos upgrades.

“Disabling NTLM by default does not mean completely removing NTLM from Windows yet,” Gewida said. “Instead, it means that Windows will be delivered in a secure-by-default state where network NTLM authentication is blocked and no longer used automatically.”

“The OS will prefer modern, more secure Kerberos-based alternatives. At the same time, common legacy scenarios will be addressed through new upcoming capabilities such as Local KDC and IAKerb (pre-release).”

Doctor previously banned from complex surgery in NSW given senior clinical safety role with Queensland Health | Health

0

A cardiothoracic surgeon previously restricted from performing major heart and lung surgery by the New South Wales medical regulator has been appointed to a senior Queensland government clinical safety position.

On Tuesday the deputy director general of Clinical Excellence Queensland, Dr Helen Brown, announced Dr Michael Byrom as the inaugural surgical medical lead for the organisation, which focuses on healthcare quality, safety and efficiency.

An email from Brown to staff said: “In this new surgical lead role, Dr Byrom will lead the establishment of the Surgical Quality Assurance Committee to identify and address systemic issues contributing to preventable surgical morbidity and mortality”.

In 2020, the Medical Council of NSW imposed conditions on Byrom’s medical registration in order to protect the public, restricting him to performing only simple procedures and preventing him from supervising medical students.

He was required to undergo supervision and retraining in areas including technical skills, clinical judgment, decision-making and communication.

The conditions followed a four-year period in which regulators examined a series of clinical incidents at Royal Prince Alfred hospital in Sydney. The investigation occurred following complaints raised by former colleagues who were concerned by post-surgical deaths. Byrom said at the time that he denied the allegations and that he said were lodged by former business partners motivated by malice.

At the time, Byrom agreed to the conditions placed on him and told The Australian that complaints about patient deaths were unfounded, that his surgical results were found during a Medical Council investigation to be consistent with his surgical peers, and that the council’s assessment of his performance found no evidence of risk to the safety of his patients.

The conditions also banned him from supervising trainee surgeons for a period of time. The conditions were all met and he completed the required training, with no conditions remaining in place restricting his practising.

A Queensland Health spokesperson said on Wednesday that Byrom was appointed to Clinical Excellence Queensland “following a rigorous recruitment process that included extensive background checks and full transparency”.

Byrom no longer has any conditions placed on his practising, the spokesperson said.

“We welcome the appointment of Dr Byrom given his wealth of knowledge and experience in cardiothoracic surgery, surgical quality improvement and clinical governance,” the spokesperson said.

Dr Marie Bismark, a public health physician and health lawyer at the University of Melbourne, said many concerns about doctors are often resolved without formal regulatory action.

“So for a medical board or other regulator to impose conditions on a doctor’s practice, that would only happen if there are risks to the public, if those risks can’t be managed in any other way.”

She said while clinicians make mistakes and should be allowed to redeem themselves through education and change, “I would think that it would be reasonable for the public to want some kind of explanation about what has changed since the conditions were imposed and the reasoning behind the appointment, and to be satisfied that this practitioner is now safe”.
