Galifianakis says he almost canceled Clinton interview over request about emails

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Comedian and actor Zach Galifianakis revealed that he nearly scrapped his 2016 interview with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was running for president at the time against Donald Trump, because her team tried to tell the comedian he couldn’t bring up her email controversy.

Galifianakis spoke with comedian Conan O’Brien on his show, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” during which they both argued that comedy has to come first in interviews with politicians, including sitting presidents. Galifianakis said some podcasters have the president on now just to “suck up to him,” and said it was their job to make their subjects uncomfortable.

“I’m more interested in the comedy first, and whatever their motive is, fine,” Galifianakis said. “But the comedy has to come first. I remember when I interviewed Hillary Clinton and I could tell she didn’t want to be there. And I totally get that. I get it.”

“But before we had set that whole thing up, they wrote back, ‘Well, you can’t bring up those emails,'” he continued. “And I go, ‘Well, we don’t have to do the interview … That’s fine. We won’t do it.'”

The comedian said that Clinton’s team then told him they would do the interview without the precondition.

“When you tell powerful people, no, it’s crazy,” Galifianakis said. “They were like, ‘OK, we’ll do it.’ Well, you can ask, because it’s not that important to me to do it the way they want to do it. You have to, if you’re going to come in a comedy, you got to, the way we want to do it,” Galifianakis said.

Clinton’s team did not immediately return a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Galifianakis sat down with Clinton on his show “Between Two Ferns” in September 2016. He also did a show with former President Barack Obama.

The comedian said in 2016 that he wouldn’t have Trump on the show shortly after his Clinton interview, saying at the time, “I wouldn’t have somebody on that’s so mentally challenged.”

“I feel like I’d be taking advantage of him. And you can print that,” he added.

O’Brien and Galifianakis both argued that Trump would do well to let himself be “the butt of the joke.”

“And our current president would do well to understand that if he let himself be the butt of the joke,” O’Brien said, as Galifianakis added, “It’s humanizing.”

“You wouldn’t do it with him. It wouldn’t work,” Galifianakis said of Trump.

Chhattisgarh HC’s decision under Hindu Marriage Act, marriage between children of siblings illegal

0

Chhattisgarh High Court has given a big decision under the Hindu Marriage Act. The court has declared marriage between children of siblings as illegal. The High Court has accepted the appeal of a man to declare his marriage with his cousin as invalid. Because this marriage comes under prohibited relationship under Hindu Marriage Act 1955.

A bench of two judges was hearing this case. The decision of the Family Court was challenged in the court. In which it was found that his marriage falls in the category of prohibited marital relationship. This marriage was kept intact only because a custom in Patel society approves of such marriages. For this reason, it was refused to declare this marriage illegal and void.

IED blast in Kanker, Chhattisgarh, 4 DRG soldiers martyred

This argument given in the petition

It was argued on behalf of the petitioner that the practice of marriage between brother-sister, sister-daughter and maternal uncle-aunt is prevalent in the Patel community. This is called Brahma Vivah. In this, it is necessary to prove that this practice of marriage continues between different levels of prohibited relationship. They have been following this practice continuously for a long time.

When did this marriage take place?

A young man was married on 20 April 2018 as per Hindu customs. The young man’s mother and his wife’s mother were both real sisters. After March 2020, his wife left her in-laws’ house and started living with her father. Both of them got divorced in a social meeting in January 2022. Also Rs 75000 and gold Silver Jewelery was given away.

On this the husband filed a case in the court. In which he argued that his mother was the real sister of his wife’s mother and their marriage was prohibited under the Hindu Marriage Act. On January 3, 2024, the Family Court concluded that there was a custom in the Patel community in which such marriages were allowed. After this the husband’s appeal was rejected by the court.

What did Chhattisgarh High Court say on the matter?

Chhattisgarh High Court said that it was completely unfair for the Family Court to dismiss the petition seeking to declare the marriage between the parties as null and void considering that their marriage falls in the category of prohibited relationship under Section 5(iv) of the 1955 Act.

The court said in its decision that in their society, any practice or custom that allows such marriage between the two falls in the category of prohibited relationship, for which neither any argument was given nor it was proved. Due to which the decision related to the validity of the marriage was canceled and the issue of permanent alimony was kept open to be raised by the wife.

The political and legal conflict regarding the alleged liquor policy scam in Delhi High Court has now come to the fore. During the hearing on Tuesday (05 May), Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma clearly indicated that the court will not let the case stop, even if the accused leaders boycott the proceedings. The court said that it will appoint three senior lawyers as amicus curiae (friends of the justice), who will represent Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Durgesh Pathak.

Amicus curiae will be appointed for Kejriwal and Sisodia

This entire controversy intensified when these leaders recused themselves from the hearing, fearing bias against the judge. However, the court rejected this demand and clearly said that the judicial process will not be stopped by anyone’s boycott. Justice Sharma said that first the Amicus Curiae will be appointed and only then the further hearing will begin.

Lower court had acquitted all 23 accused

On February 27, the Rouse Avenue Court had given relief to all the 23 accused and discharged them from the case and raised questions on the investigation. CBI has reached the High Court challenging this decision. This controversy had arisen regarding the excise policy of Delhi government for 2021-22. It is alleged that private companies were given unfair benefits through this policy. However, Aam Aadmi Party has been continuously rejecting these allegations.

While making allegations, Arvind Kejriwal had expressed fear of conflict of interest and bias against the judge. Last week, former CMs Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia had written a letter to Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma saying that they would not appear before him personally or through a lawyer, and instead they would follow the path of Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha.

Iran’s judiciary vows action against ‘enemy’s mercenaries’ amid executions | US-Israel war on Iran News

0

Tehran, Iran – Iran’s judiciary has promised to continue taking “decisive” action against people it accuses of working for foreign interests as it reports more executions and asset seizures.

Judiciary and security authorities said they will “act decisively against the enemies’ mercenaries without leniency until the very last one”, according to a state television report aired late on Monday.

list of 3 itemsend of list

The report came hours after judicial authorities executed three men who were arrested in the northeastern city of Mashhad during nationwide protests in January, which top officials have called a “coup” attempt led by the United States and Israel.

State media aired what it presented as confessions by the men, who were labelled “agents” of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad and “leaders of riots” by the authorities. The report said the men acted against the government by using knives and swords against paramilitary Basij forces and damaging public property.

An increasing number of prisoners have been hanged over recent weeks, particularly since the start of the US-Israel war on Iran on February 28. The executions are connected to the antiestablishment protests, during which thousands of people were killed amid a state-imposed internet shutdown.

In Isfahan last week, 21-year-old Sasan Azadvar was executed for “cooperation with the enemy” for acts that included, according to the judiciary, “attacking a minibus carrying security forces with stones and a club and breaking windows of public buses and private vehicles”.

The authorities maintained that while the judicial process has been significantly speeded up for those arrested in connection with the protests, the proceedings remain legal and executions are carried out after being greenlit by Supreme Court judges.

Foreign-based human rights organisations and opponents of Iran’s government have said prisoners are not given fair trials and their families are pressured into remaining silent about arrests and executions, charges Iranian authorities reject.

A number of prisoners have also been executed after being convicted of espionage for Israel and other national security charges. Security offences can lead to a conviction of moharebeh, or “waging war against God”, and other sentences that carry the death penalty.

Earlier this week, two men were hanged for allegedly sending images of military facilities to the Mossad, trying to recruit others for sabotage activities and calling security authorities with fabricated leads to divert them.

Multiple members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK), a foreign-based group considered a “terrorist” outfit by Iranian authorities, have also been executed over recent weeks.

Foreign-based human rights organisations reported that Iranian authorities have in 2025 and 2026 carried out the largest number of hangings since 1989 when political dissidents and MEK members received death sentences in large numbers.

A report by Iran Human Rights and Together Against the Death Penalty last month said at least 1,639 executions were recorded in 2025, which was 68 percent higher than the year before.

The United Nations confirmed at the end of April that since the start of this year’s war, at least 21 people have been executed and more than 4,000 arrested on national security-related charges. Iranian authorities have not commented on the figures.

Economic measures

Iranian authorities have also confiscated the private assets of Iranians inside and outside the country in response to perceived antiestablishment activities.

The latest such move was announced on Tuesday morning when the judiciary announced that authorities in Semnan province, located east of Tehran, had seized the assets of 22 “traitors to the nation and people who are linked with the Zionist regime [Israel] and hostile countries”.

During the naval blockade imposed by the US, which has exacerbated the already dire economic conditions in Iran, authorities have also warned that they will act against any disruptive measures, such as hoarding goods, and have threatened prison time of up to 20 years, lashings and fines for anyone convicted.

Judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei also warned that those hoarding, price gouging or selling expired goods will be met with “decisive” legal action.

Prices surged this week across the country, especially for food, medicine, cars and electronic devices. And there are potentially challenging times ahead with little sign of a lasting resolution to the conflict with the US and Israel despite an ongoing ceasefire.

“The current price levels are unacceptable. The price increases are due to the war tumult and sanctions,” Central Bank of Iran chief Abdolnasser Hemmati said on Tuesday. “But the people should not be worried because their resistance is working and, God willing, victory will be achieved soon.”

Florida coach Jon Sumrall’s latest comments prove he’s just as psycho as his fanbase

It takes a special kind of crazy to be a successful head coach in college football, doubly so if you want to survive in a conference like the SEC, where “it just means more.”

Nice guys and well-adjusted dudes get chewed up and spit out annually in the Southeastern Conference, and only true football psychopaths will make it very far in this league.

Take Kirby Smart, for example.

Any man who can rock a bowl cut and a visor and not look like a complete buffoon is clearly not a normal human being, and if you’ve heard any of his leaked halftime speeches from the locker room, you know exactly what I mean.

I’m not sure if new Florida head coach Jon Sumrall will be in Gainesville for a long time or not, but he absolutely has the kind of psychotic temperament you need to succeed in the SEC.

You may recall his choice in strength coach, a dumbbell-chomping, forehead-bleeding maniac by the name of Rusty Witt, or the fact that he postponed his anniversary trip to get a few more hours of watching film under his belt, but in a recent interview with a local Jacksonville news station, Sumrall peeled back the curtain to reveal just how unhinged he really is.

We all heard the same thing, right?

Did he just say that he was going to commit acts of self-harm if the Gators didn’t make it to a bowl game this season?

Dear Lord, he’s just like the rest of us!

Sumrall sounds like literally every unhinged Gator fan on X for the last decade and a half.

If I had a dollar for every time a fan threatened to stalk a ref to his car or used the bleach pouring GIF, I’d be able to fund the Gators’ NIL budget myself.

ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON’T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!

I know it sounds stupid, but Sumrall talking like a random fan they just happened to hand a headset will go far in endearing himself to Gator Nation.

Florida fans are tired of listening to coach speak and pleas for patience, so if the alternative is “I’ll hurl myself off of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium if we don’t go 7-5,” then you can sign me and the rest of the Rowdy Reptiles up.

A coach that talks like his fans instead of talking down to them is refreshing, and that might buy Sumrall a little extra goodwill should he stumble out of the starting gate.

Then again, it sounds like if he doesn’t meet expectations in year one, the only person Sumrall will have to worry about is himself.

VMware claims Cloud Foundation on track for world domination • The Register

VMware has announced an update to its flagship Cloud Foundation (VCF) private cloud suite and tried to make it fit the times by adding features that allow users to run with less hardware.

VCF 9.1, announced today, tries to improve on VMware’s memory tiering tech that shifts data out of RAM and onto NVMe storage, so that servers can get by with less memory. We’re told the new version includes better detection of cold memory pages so VCF can shunt more data to NVMe, more often. VMware has already argued memory tiering is the antidote to soaring hardware prices, because it means users won’t need to invest in RAM-crammed servers. Improved tiering many improve that argument.

The Broadcom biz unit has also added what it describes as “next-generation storage compression” for AI data pipelines, an addition that should mean users need less storage capacity – another potential saving. And there’s a new Kubernetes environment aimed at spinning up lightweight test and dev environments, so orgs don’t need to dedicate a full cluster to that task.

Another inclusion promises the chance to create a multi-tenant infrastructure that isolates AI workloads so they can safely run on shared infrastructure.

VMware exists to maximize hardware utilization and the high cost of AI hardware gives it a moment to point to its expertise in the field, push multi-tenant AI to demonstrate the value of its partner community, and give itself another angle from which to peddle its current argument that implementing on-prem infrastructure running VCF will mean AI-related cloud bill blowouts.

Prashanth Shenoy, marketing boss for Broadcom’s VCF division, told The Register buyers have responded to this pitch – and VMware has racked up more than 2,000 implementations of VCF 9 in the year since its release.

“We had less than 2,000-3,000 full stack private cloud customers before acquisition,” he said, and uptake of VCF 9 is the fastest VMware has recorded.

For some perspective, pre-acquisition VMware had upwards of 350,000 customers. The outfit’s vSphere server virtualization products remain on the books, but users tell The Register Broadcom does not offer license renewals for anything other than VCF. So while VMware is selling plenty of VCF, fewer than one percent of pre-acquisition customers have made the move so far.

Shenoy thinks AI will prompt more organizations to adopt VCF.

“As customers move from pilot to production, they want to bring compute closer to data,” he said. That means running LLMs on-prem. “They do it because of costs, regulations and security and IP concerns.”

For those not yet running AI anywhere, VCF 9.1 adds more automated provisioning tools to push VMs and containers to edge locations, live patching for more hosts, on-prem disaster and ransomware recovery tools, and more observability tools – including the ability to monitor AI workloads to measure token consumption, and inventory of active agents and the models they are using.

VMware also added support for AMD Instinct MI350 GPUs, and improved vMotion – the tech that non-disruptively moves workloads to different hardware – so AI workloads can hop between GPUs with zero downtime.

Shenoy told The Register VCF 9.1 customers given early access to the release rated it worthy of full VCF 10.0 release status.

That reaction is significant because VMware’s competitors often allege Broadcom intends to lock customers in, then maximize profits by slowing innovation. Shenoy thinks VCF 9.1 rebuts that argument.

But he also acknowledges that many VMware customers are yet to embrace VCF. “This is a huge mindset shift we have asked customers to take,” he said. ®
