Ireland won the match by 96 runs.

New Delhi. Ireland has finally kept the hopes of Super-8 alive by opening the account of victory in its third match of Group-B in T20 World Cup 2026. In the 22nd match of the tournament held in Colombo, Ireland, after setting a record score of 235 runs, bowled out Oman team for 139 runs and won by a huge margin of 96 runs. This is Oman’s third defeat. With this the Oman team was out of the tournament. At the same time, with the victory of Ireland, the Super-8 equation of this group has become exciting. Ireland has increased the tension of Australia, which had to suffer an upset at the hands of Zimbabwe yesterday. Captain Lorcan Tucker was the hero of Ireland’s victory, who played an unbeaten inning of 94 runs. This is Ireland’s third biggest win in T20 International.

Lorcan Tucker is the hero of victory
Ireland did not have a good start after losing the toss and batting first. Four wickets had fallen for his 64 runs. It seemed that the team would hardly be able to reach even 150 runs, but Lorcan Tucker, playing the captaincy innings, made a partnership of 101 runs in 56 balls with Gareth Delaney for the fifth wicket. After this, by adding 50 runs in 19 balls for the sixth wicket with George Dockrell, Ireland reached its highest total in T20 International. This is the biggest score of the season and also the second highest score in tournament history.

Ireland won the match by 96 runs.

Tucker played an unbeaten inning of 94 runs facing 51 balls. He hit 10 fours and four sixes. Apart from him, Gareth Delany also scored a half-century. He played a quick inning of 56 runs in 30 balls, which included three fours and four sixes. In the last overs, George Dockrell played a stormy innings of 35 runs in 9 balls. Shakeel Ahmed was the only successful bowler for Oman, who took three wickets.

Oman team buried under mountain score
Chasing a mountain-like target, Oman’s innings fell apart like a pack of cards. The team could not even play the entire over and were limited to 140 runs. Aamir Kaleem (50) and Hammad Mirza (46) faced the Irish bowlers bravely and batted well, but could not lead the team to victory. Ireland’s Joshua Little took the maximum of three wickets. Matthew Humphreys and Barry McCarthy took two wickets each. George Dockrell, who created a storm with the bat, also took a wicket.

Ireland’s Super-8 hopes alive
With this win, Ireland has definitely kept alive its hopes of reaching the Super-8, but it is not going to be easy. He will have to register a big win in his remaining matches, due to which his run rate will also improve along with four points. Apart from this, Ireland will have to hope that no two teams from Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe or Australia are able to go beyond four points. If this happens and Ireland’s run rate is better than other teams, then it will enter the Super-8.

What does Australia need to do to reach Super-8?
If Australia wants to make a direct place in the Super-8, then it will have to win both its remaining matches, due to which the team will reach the next round with 6 points. Even one defeat can jolt its Super-8 hopes. Australia currently has two points from two matches. Its two matches are against Sri Lanka and Oman.
