Before the local elections in Rajasthan, the state government has taken a big decision. In the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the three-decade old policy was changed, under which people with more than two children could not contest civic and panchayat elections in the state.

For the first time in 1994, the BJP government of Chief Minister Bhairo Singh Shekhawat had enacted a law to promote family planning in Rajasthan. After this, the two-child policy started being implemented on different jobs also through different laws. However, now after the decline in population growth rate, Rajasthan has decided to change this rule.
