
Police has taken major action under Kalnemi campaign in Kakrauli police station area of Muzaffarnagar district of western Uttar Pradesh. The police have arrested a young man who was begging in the guise of a monk. The accused used to wear saffron clothes and call himself a priest of Baba Guru Gorakhnath and was roaming around in Hindu localities begging. The accused used to sing bhajans and kirtans with a dupali in his hand and along with asking for donations from people, he also lured women to tell them their future.
Actually, this case is of village Jadwad, where when the activities of the young man seemed suspicious, the villagers caught him and asked for identity documents. The youth’s name was recorded as Ehsaan, father Shakeel, resident of village Jola, police station Budhana in the Aadhaar card, which revealed his real identity. After this the villagers handed him over to the police.
Police arrested the youth and started interrogation
After the video of the arrest of the youth went viral on social media, the police took the matter seriously and took immediate action. During police interrogation, it is suspected that the accused is part of some active network, which is going from village to village in Meerapur and Kakrauli police station areas and begging in disguise. According to the police, two associates of the accused are still absconding, efforts are being made to search for them.
What did the police officers say in the matter?
SP Dehat Aditya Bansal said that accused Ehsaan has been arrested and legal action is being taken against him. He said that under the Kalanemi campaign, strict steps will be taken against those who play with people’s faith. Preparations are on to send the accused to jail and efforts are on to arrest other people associated with the network.
