A major accident was averted during landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal. Here a tire of a Turkish Airlines plane caught fire. Police have said that the fire has been brought under control and all the passengers have been evacuated safely. There were a total of 278 passengers and 11 crew members on board this aircraft.

According to an ANI report, quoting the police, it has been said that the fire was immediately brought under control and all the passengers have been evacuated safely. This incident happened at around 6.45 am on Monday (May 11, 2026).

What did the airport security officer tell?

Airport Security SP Rajkumar Silawal told ANI over phone, ‘Turkish Airlines plane TK 726 was coming from Istanbul to Kathmandu and its tire caught fire during landing. The fire has been brought under control with the help of fire brigade personnel. All the passengers have been evacuated safely.

According to officials, there were a total of 278 passengers and 11 crew members on board the plane. Some United Nations officials were also included among the passengers. It is a matter of relief that there is no news of anyone getting injured in this incident.
