Kota News: Politics heats up over Mahant’s murder, BJP hits back at Congress – ‘On a sensitive issue…’

After the brutal murder of Mahant Devanand of Mayapuri Akhara in Kota district of Rajasthan, the politics of the state has completely heated up. On one hand, the main opposition party Congress has launched a scathing attack on the Bhajanlal Sharma government regarding the law and order situation in the state, while on the other hand, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also strongly countered the allegations of Congress.

Mahant Devanand of Mayapuri Akhara located in Kota district was brutally murdered inside the monastery premises late on Friday night. At the time of the incident, Mahant was sleeping in his monastery when unknown miscreants attacked him with knives, due to which he died on the spot.

No clear reason for murder has been revealed

There is a huge sensation in the area after the incident. Senior police and administration officials are investigating the case, but the clear reason for the murder has not been revealed yet. This incident has raised serious questions on the security of monasteries and religious places.

Congress’s attack: ‘If saints are not safe in monasteries, then what about the common man?’

Rafiq Khan, Chief Whip of Congress in the Assembly and MLA from Adarsh Nagar, has taken the government to task over this incident.

Rafiq Khan said, “If even saints and mahatmas are not safe under the present government and a sleeping Mahant is killed by entering the monastery, then how safe will the common man be feeling? This incident is a direct challenge to law and order.”

He alleged that crimes are continuously increasing in the state and the government is claiming that the situation is better only on the basis of statistics. The MLA has demanded to make concrete arrangements for the security of saints and religious places.

BJP’s counterattack

Rajasthan BJP has given a befitting reply to these political attacks of Congress Party. Rajasthan BJP spokesperson Suresh Garg described Mahant’s murder as tragic and condemnable, but also advised Congress not to do politics on this issue.

Suresh Garg said that the Congress party has no right to do politics in such sensitive matters, because in their own government crime was at its peak and the police used to work under pressure. He claimed that the BJP government led by Bhajanlal Sharma is working on the policy of ‘zero tolerance’ regarding crime.

BJP spokesperson assured that there is no cover up in any matter in this government. The police is doing its work swiftly and soon the accused will be arrested and the entire matter will be revealed.

Rafiq Khan also spoke on Sarwar Chishti’s statement

Apart from the Mahant murder case, Congress MLA Rafiq Khan also reacted to the statement of Ajmer Dargah Committee Secretary Syed Sarwar Chishti, in which Chishti had accused Congress of ignoring the Muslim community in the Rajya Sabha election tickets.

Giving clarification, Rafiq Khan said that Congress has made Mansoor Ali Khan the Rajya Sabha candidate from Karnataka, perhaps Sarwar Chishti is not aware of it. He claimed that Congress is the only party in the country which works to give proper representation and respect to all classes and communities (including minorities) without any discrimination.
