A major step has been taken to provide relief from the long-running severe traffic jam at Kalindi Kunj Junction located on the Delhi-Noida border. National Highway Authority (NHAI) has approved the proposal to build a flyover. This flyover will be two way. On completion of this project, Kalindi Kunj intersection will become signal-free, which is expected to provide relief to thousands of drivers every day. Three states, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, will benefit from this flyover.
In this regard, a meeting of Delhi Traffic Police and Noida Traffic Police officials was held with NHAI on Wednesday, in which the DPR was discussed. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta said that to make the junction signal-free, two loop roads i.e. flyovers will be built.
The flyover will take you directly to Faridabad
The first flyover under the project will take vehicles coming from Noida directly towards Faridabad and Mumbai Expressway, so that they will not have to stop at Kalindi Kunj intersection. The second flyover will directly connect vehicles coming from Faridabad and Mumbai Expressway towards Noida, which will connect to Okhla Barrage Road. In this way, traffic pressure will be reduced from both sides and the problem of jam at the junction will be significantly reduced.
According to officials, the existing intersection will also remain operational, but some parts will be widened to make it signal-free. Kalindi Kunj Junction has long been a major traffic point between Delhi, Noida and Faridabad, where there is traffic jam for hours during rush hours.
The issue was raised in the Lok Sabha
This proposal was first raised by Delhi Traffic Police in August 2025. At that time, in the letter sent to NHAI, it was told that after the opening of Mumbai Expressway, there will be no traffic from Faridabad and Badarpur. Noida There has been a huge increase in the number of vehicles going towards Kalindi Kunj, due to which the traffic pressure on Kalindi Kunj has increased manifold.
According to the report of the English newspaper Hindustan Times, NHAI has prepared the DPR for this project and is now moving forward towards its implementation.
This issue was also raised in the Lok Sabha. Then the Union Road Transport Ministry had said that projects are being prepared to improve traffic on three major corridors of Delhi including Kalindi Kunj. This flyover will not only reduce travel time but will also balance traffic.
At present, the deadline for the project has not been decided, but it is expected to be started soon after approval and preparation of DPR.
