The picture of a mother and an innocent son clinging to each other after the cruise accident at Bargi Dam in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh has shocked everyone. This picture was of Marina, daughter of Masih family of Delhi and grandson Trishan. Six family members were present in the cruise at the time of the accident, out of which three died. When mother and son were buried together on Saturday, every eye was moist.
Hemlata told that younger son Trishant was born 10 years after the birth of eldest daughter Siya. After a lot of prayers, Trishant was able to get Marina’s lap. Recently he was admitted to Mount Carmel School Prep. His primary education had just started.

Untrained cruise team became the cause of deaths
The carelessness of the cruise team ruined our happy family. My father-in-law is an eyewitness to this. Hemlata told that life jacket should have been given as soon as she boarded the cruise but no one took care of safety. Had the team been trained, all three members of the family would have been safe today.
Hemlata told that when the boat started filling with water, my father-in-law himself tore the packet, took out the life jacket and started distributing it among the people present there. People were wearing jackets by themselves. After the boat sank, many people of the cruise team ran away to save their lives, but the passengers remained stuck there. Somehow people nearby started pulling the drowning people by throwing ropes. My father-in-law was also involved in that. Otherwise, today she would have lost her father-in-law and brother-in-law along with her mother-in-law.
According to family members, the jackets were not enough. In the end there was only one jacket left and two lives were in front, a mother and her four year old son. Then Julius gave the jacket to daughter Marina. Pradeep put both the legs of his son Trishan in Marina’s jacket and Marina hugged her son and tied the belt on top. Maybe thinking that my child would be saved and not me, but the waves were merciless and fate was even more so. Along with both of them, Marina’s mother Madhur Masih stopped breathing in the same water. The local villagers showed courage and threw ropes and saved the lives of many people. Julius, Pradeep and 14-year-old daughter Siya were evacuated safely. Kuldeep told that there was already a yellow weather alert but the tourists were not informed about it. If people had been told about the danger, no one would have boarded that boat.
Save…our boat is sinking
The calm waves of Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh were suddenly filled with screams and sobs on Thursday evening. The journey that started with laughter, celebration and memories, within a few moments turned into a tragic accident that broke an entire family of Delhi forever. Marina’s brother Kuldeep told that the family members were on the upper deck of the cruise when the weather turned bad. My sister Marina was on the video call with us. She was showing us the view and the water.
Suddenly the situation changed. She started crying in fear and saying, save me… save me… and then the phone got disconnected. My brother-in-law, Pradeep Theda, knows how to swim, and saved himself and his teenage daughter, but by the time he returned to find my sister, her children and my mother, they were trapped under the overturned boat and had disappeared. A new house was built in Jabalpur, house warming ceremony was held, daughter Siya had got good marks and there was a festive atmosphere everywhere.
