
There was huge anger in the Shia community after the news of the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Mangalore of Roorkee area of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Thousands of people came out on the streets and demonstrated strongly in protest against the attack by America. During the demonstration, slogans were raised against America and it was described as a country with dictatorial mentality.
A crowd of people had started gathering in the Bade Imambara located in Mohalla Pathanpura since morning. Within no time this gathering turned into a huge demonstration. The special feature of this demonstration was the large participation of men as well as women. People of the community unanimously condemned the attack and said that any step taking the lives of innocent people is against humanity.

The protesters said in their address that history is witness that dictatorship never remains permanent. Referring to religious topics, he said that it is important to raise voice against injustice. The people of the community described their leader as a martyr and said that martyrdom is not an end but a symbol of continuity of an idea.
‘It is their right to raise their voice against injustice’
Local religious leaders said that they are not in favor of violence, but it is their right to raise their voice peacefully against injustice. He appealed to the Government of India to maintain peace and brotherhood in the country. He also said that everyone needs to exercise restraint so that international events do not impact the local level.
The administration remained alert during the demonstration
The administration also remained completely alert during the demonstration. Local police and administrative officials remained present at the spot and kept an eye on the situation. Officials said that at present the situation is under control and peace is maintained in the area. This demonstration held in Mangalore, Roorkee shows that global events are now deeply affecting the local society. The people of the community finally ended the protest giving the message of peace, justice and brotherhood.
