New Delhi. Ishan Kishan was the biggest hero of India’s victory against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. This left-handed opener played a quick inning of 77 runs in 40 balls against Pakistan. Ishan said that this victory will boost the team’s confidence a lot. He said that he had confidence in himself. Apart from hitting 10 fours and three sixes in 40 balls on a spin-friendly pitch, Ishan established India’s dominance by adding 87 runs for the second wicket with Tilak Verma (25). He was chosen ‘Player of the Match’ for this innings.

After scoring 175 runs for seven wickets, India bowled out Pakistan for 114 runs in 18 overs and won by 61 runs. Ishan said in the awards ceremony after the match, ‘I think the wicket was not that easy in the beginning. In such a situation, it was important to have confidence in yourself and focus on your strengths. I have worked hard on my off-side game. I was just trying to keep things simple. He said that the target in his mind was to score 160-170 runs.

According to Ishan, ‘It was clear in my mind that if we score 160-170 runs, it will be a good score for us.’ He said that this victory will boost the morale of the team. He said, ‘India vs Pakistan is always a special match, not only for us but for the entire country. Winning this match against Pakistan will give us a lot of confidence and we would like to maintain this momentum in the future also. Praising Indian fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, he said, ‘When Shaheen was bowling, I did not think that the pitch was providing much help for the fast bowlers, but the way Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik bowled in those two overs was incredible.’

After Ishan Kishan’s stormy half-century, India qualified for the Super Eight stage with a one-sided 61-run win over Pakistan due to the excellent performance of the bowlers. Chasing India’s target of 176 runs, Pakistan team was reduced to 114 runs in 18 overs in front of the sharp bowling of Hardik Pandya (16/2), Varun Chakraborty (17/2), Jasprit Bumrah (17/2) and Axar Patel (29/2). Apart from Usman Khan (44), no other batsman from Pakistan could play sustainably. Apart from him, only Shaheen Shah Afridi (23 not out) could cross the 20-run mark. This is India’s eighth win against Pakistan in nine matches in the T20 World Cup, while it has faced defeat in only one match.
