Indore News: Controversy increases over protest against Vande Mataram in Indore, FIR registered against two women councilors

The controversy regarding ‘Vande Mataram’ song in Indore has now taken a legal turn. An FIR has been registered against two women councilors of Congress at MG Road police station. This whole matter is related to the protest that took place during the budget conference of the Municipal Corporation on April 8, which has heated up the politics of the city. It is being told that Congress councilor Rubina Iqbal Khan and Fauzia Sheikh Aleem had opposed the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ during the budget session of the corporation. He cited religious reasons behind this and said that worship or praise of other religions is not allowed in Islam. Controversy increased regarding this matter.

BJP lodged complaint

The BJP councilor party expressed strong protest on this issue. Calling it an insult to the nation, he first complained to the Divisional Commissioner and later lodged an FIR at MG Road police station. BJP councilors and corporation chairman Munnalal Yadav have also recorded their statements before the police. He has demanded strictest action against both the councilors.

The police called both the councilors to the police station and interrogated them separately for about four hours. According to officials, the matter is being taken seriously and every aspect is being investigated closely. During this time, statements of all concerned parties have also been recorded, so that the truth can come out and further action can be taken on the basis of solid evidence.

In this case, a case has been registered under sections 196(1) and 3(5) of the Indian Judicial Code, which are non-bailable. In such a situation, there is a possibility of arrest of both the councilors.
