HPV vaccination campaign started, CM Sukhu said – high-end technology will be available in all medical colleges

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today launched the state level HPV vaccination campaign for the prevention of cervical cancer from IGMC Shimla. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that in the next 90 days, 65,000 girls of 14 years of age will be given this vaccine. He stressed on public awareness while appealing to parents, Panchayat representatives and health workers to make this program successful.

Expressing concern over the increasing cases of cancer in Himachal Pradesh, the Chief Minister said that the state government is paying special attention to fighting this disease. He said that the governments continued to follow the same pattern for the last 40 years. To change this system, the state government gave the slogan of changing the system. If our government had continued like this for five years, Himachal Pradesh would have gone far behind in the field of health.

‘Government is going to build state of the art cancer hospital in Hamirpur’

He said that today treatment of diseases like cancer is possible if the right treatment is given at the right time. He said that the state government is going to build a state of the art cancer hospital in Hamirpur at a cost of Rs 300 crore so that cheap and accessible treatment can be available to the patients in the state itself.

Hi-tech machines will be installed in all medical colleges including IGMS

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is going to install equipment and machines equipped with world class technology in all the medical colleges of the state including IGMC in the next eight months. In the coming three years, modern technology on the lines of AIIMS will be available in all the zonal hospitals, model health institutions, PHCs and CHCs of the state.

‘Aim to develop health tourism in the next five years’

He said that the state government has set a target to develop health tourism in the next five years, which will benefit the people of the state as well as the doctors, para medical staff and technicians associated with the health services sector. He said that the state government is going to spend Rs 3000 crore to install high-end machines and equipment.

‘Many reforms in the health sector in the last three years’

The Chief Minister said that the state government made many reforms in the health sector in the last three years. He said that along with doctors, posts of nurses and technical staff like operation theater assistants, radiographers etc. have been sanctioned, which are being filled. He said that a modern 3 Tesla MRI machine has been inaugurated in IGMC on Friday as a 19 year old machine was working here.

He said, “Understanding the suffering of the common man and taking decisions for his welfare is a change in the system.” He said that the state government is going to start robotic surgery in all five medical colleges. After starting robotic surgery in Chamiyana Hospital and Tanda Medical College, this facility will also start in IGMC on March 10.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Colonel) Dhani Ram Shandil said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is paying special attention to the field of health services and education. He said that unprecedented work is being done in the field of health which will be remembered by the coming generations. The state government is going to spend Rs 3000 crore on installing high-end machines.

‘HPV vaccination campaign will be included in the regular program’

Giving detailed information about the HPV vaccination campaign, he said that it will be included in the regular vaccination program and vaccines will be provided free of cost to girls. He said that the vaccination campaign will be conducted under the supervision of medical officers. He said that this campaign is the result of the efficient leadership and far-reaching thinking of the Chief Minister.
