Once again a situation of confusion has arisen regarding Holi (Holi 2026). A question is arising in the minds of people whether it is right to celebrate Holi on March 3 or whether it will be better on March 4. In such a situation, we collected information from different districts of Bihar as to where and on which date Holi is being celebrated. According to local reporters, one thing has come to light that Holi is being celebrated on March 4 in almost all the districts.
Holi will be celebrated in the capital Patna on March 4. Holi is celebrated in Banka also on March 4. Citing Mahavir Panchang of Kashi, Banka’s scholar Pandit Phanibhushan Pathak said that this time Bhadra and lunar eclipse will have a special impact on the auspicious time of Holi. He informed that Bhadra Nakshatra will start from 5:18 pm on March 2, which will remain in effect till 4:56 am on March 3.
Why is Holi not auspicious on March 3?
He told that according to the scriptures, there is a tradition of burning Holika in Bhadra Poonch this year by sacrificing Bhadra Mukh, for which the time has been fixed before 12:50 pm on March 2. Pandit Phanibhushan Pathak further clarified that a lunar eclipse is taking place on March 3, due to which the Sutak period will start 9 hours earlier. Due to Sutak and eclipse it will not be possible to play colors on 3rd March, hence this year Holi will be celebrated on 4th March.
On the other hand, if we talk about other districts of Bihar, Holi will be played in Madhubani on March 4. Holi will also be celebrated in Samastipur on March 4. The Bhirha Holi here is world famous. Holi is also on March 4 in Jamui, Chapra and other districts. In such a situation, you too can celebrate the festival of colors openly on March 4.
