Himachal Pradesh: Jairam Thakur angry over supplementary budget, said – Government has no control over expenditure

Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Assembly and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has strongly targeted the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government of the state regarding the supplementary budget. Jairam Thakur said that the supplementary budget has torn apart the financial management, discipline and foresight of the Sukhu government.

Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said that this budget has torn to pieces the three favorite words of the Chief Minister ‘Fiscal Prudence, Fiscal Management, Fiscal Discipline and System Transformation’. According to Jairam Thakur, before presenting the budget last year, CM Sukhu had said that he is the Finance Minister who reads the most.

Budget estimates proved completely wrong

Jairam Thakur said that the budget estimates proved to be completely wrong, everything is a matter of wind. The basic objective of the budget is to make realistic estimates. 70% additional expenditure shows that the government did not trust its own figures. This is a clear indication that the government failed to make its own financial plan.

Government has no control over expenditure

Jairam Thakur said that there is neither fiscal management, nor fiscal discipline and prudence nor any system in this budget. There is just chaos here. Such a huge supplementary budget shows that there is no control on expenditure and the government is spending money without planning. This supplementary budget itself is a certificate of the economic failure of the main budget government.

The Leader of Opposition said that last year’s capital expenditure was Rs 3941 crore which is 37% less than last time and is only 3.98% of the total budget. From this it is clear that development has come to a standstill in the state and the question arises where exactly Rs 98,975 crore is being spent. He said that this time the government did not even provide the documents of the supplementary budget. Because he had realized his failure.
