The statement of senior Congress leader Anand Sharma has got the support of Education Minister Rohit Thakur in Himachal Pradesh government. Anand Sharma had appreciated the diplomatic efforts of the Central Government regarding the ongoing conflict in West Asia, on which now the State Government Minister has also agreed.
While talking to the media, Rohit Thakur said that Anand Sharma is a senior and experienced leader of Congress, who always expresses his views on the basis of facts. He said that Anand Sharma has given this statement not from any political point of view but in view of the global circumstances.
The Education Minister clearly said that this is not an issue of any one government, rather the whole world is expecting the situation in West Asia to become normal at this time. He said that the biggest impact of this conflict is on the energy sector and developing countries are suffering direct losses due to it.
Government’s concern over declining enrollment
Rohit Thakur also expressed concern about the decreasing enrollment in the state. He told that in the year 2002, there were about 9 lakh 70 thousand students in government schools from class 1 to 8, which has now reduced to about 4 lakh 2 thousand.
In view of this decline, the government has taken a big decision. In the first phase, a plan has been made to affiliate 151 government schools with CBSE. Its objective is to improve the quality and facilities of education in government schools.
The Education Minister said that English language teaching will be started in these schools from the first class itself. Besides, new initiatives like smart dress will also be implemented for students. The government’s aim is that government schools should become a better option than private schools, so that parents turn to them again.
Hint also given on transfer policy
Rohit Thakur said that at present the ban on transfer continues in the education department. Although he is personally in favor of the transfer policy, everyone’s consent is necessary to implement it.
He said that this issue has also been discussed with the opposition in the Assembly. Transfer policy is applicable in many states of the country, hence there is a need to implement it in Himachal Pradesh also.
