A huge condolence meeting was organized in Gorakhpur on Sunday, March 1, on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran and Naib-e-Imam of the world Shia community.
A large number of peace loving citizens along with Shia and Sunni communities participated in this meeting organized at Shia Jama Masjid and Imambara Ashrafunnisha Khanum complex of Sheikhpur located on Geeta Press Road.
‘It is not a Hussaini tradition to bow before a tyrant’
Addressing the condolence meeting, the present Imam of Shia Jama Masjid, Maulana Shamshad Abbas said in emotional words that the entire humanity is saddened by the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei. He said, “This martyrdom was not an unknown incident, but Khamenei Sahab was repeating the tradition in which one is not taught to kneel before the oppressor. History is a witness that the number of those fighting for the rights has always been less, but victory has always been theirs.”
Comparison with the battle of Karbala
Maulana Shamshad, while comparing the current situation with the battlefield of Karbala, said that just as Imam Hussain (A.S.) had chosen martyrdom instead of bowing his head before the ‘sinful empire of Yazid’, the superpower of his times, in the same way Imam Khamenei accepted martyrdom by rejecting the slavery of today’s ‘Yazidis’. He said that martyrdom is the heritage of Hussainis and there is no other super power for us except Allah.
Anger erupted against America and Israel
During the meeting, the military action of America and Israel was termed as ‘cowardly’. The attendees raised anti-America and Israel slogans and strongly condemned the violence happening globally. Speakers said that Yazidi forces may celebrate, but they will always be disgraced in history and the ‘Husseini flag’ will always remain high.
Heavy security and peaceful event
The local police and administration remained alert on this sensitive occasion. The condolence meeting passed off completely peacefully, where people with tearful eyes paid their respects to their Rahbar (leader).
