
Agra in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh-Lucknow Once again a terrible havoc of speed has been seen on the expressway. In a horrific road accident that took place near Milestone No. 63 of the Expressway under Police Station Nagla Khangar area, two people died on the spot, while 25 passengers were rescued in seriously injured condition. The collision was so strong that the front part of the double decker sleeper bus was found completely damaged.
According to the information received, a private double-decker sleeper bus loaded with about 60 passengers was being taken from Gorakhpur towards Chandigarh. As soon as the bus was brought to Nagla Khangar area, it was suddenly seen hitting a trailer (truck) moving ahead from behind. Based on initial investigation and statements of eyewitnesses, it is believed that the bus driver suddenly dozed off while speeding, due to which he lost control of the vehicle.
Passengers evacuated after rescue operation
As soon as the information about the accident was received, the local police station and rescue teams of UPEIDA immediately reached the spot along with the ambulance and started relief work. Showing promptness by the police, the passengers trapped in the damaged debris and windows of the bus were rescued safely.
The injured were admitted to the hospital.
25 passengers injured in the accident were immediately admitted to the Joint Hospital in Shikohabad. Of these, the condition of 5 passengers was found to be very critical, due to which after first aid, they have been referred to Saifai Medical College for better treatment, where they are being treated. The condition of the remaining passengers is currently said to be stable.
Post-mortem sent to the bodies of the driver and co-driver
Giving information in this regard, Sirsaganj CO Chanchal Tyagi said that the two persons who lost their lives in the accident are the driver and co-conductor of the bus. After filling the Panchnama of both the bodies, the police have sent them to the district hospital for post-mortem. Traffic has been restored smoothly by removing the damaged vehicles from the expressway. At present, the matter is being further investigated by the police.
