The Government of India has introduced a new EV drive technology with the aim of strengthening domestic manufacturing in the electric vehicle sector. This step has been taken towards increasing advanced power electronics capabilities in the country and reducing dependence on imports.
What is this new technology and where was it launched?
A 30 kW wide band gap (WBG) based integrated drive system (IDS) was launched at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) on Monday. This system has been specifically developed for electric vehicles and is being seen as an indigenous technological solution.
